Our families return with new additions

We would appreciate input concerning our upcoming trip to Disney. Our families traveled by car to WDW by car from Northern
alabama.10-12 hours approx. We have also flown That saves about a half day. Anyway our trips involved different conglommerates of people. We came more that once a year,until the next generation began to arrive.

Our first Reunion tour ,the next generation will be in Oct or Nov. two sets of grandparets, two sets of parents ans a 13 month old boy. The other baby will be18 months. He has riden
Splash Space BTMRR ToT ( wil in utero of course)For such veterans, we feel helpless when it comes to planning something so forgeign at a place we know so well.

We have always stayed offsite due to the huge difference in price. Right now we want to avoid sleeeping in the same room as the babies . Adults want at least halfway comfortable beds.

Kitchen/refrigerator area. And swimming if heated pool availabe.

We used to stay in a cheap clean Travellodge because we were never in those room unless we were asleep.

WHAT LODGING OPTIONS SHOULDWE CONSIDER?

If I were you I would either consider a suites hotel like the Residence Inn LBV, or Country Inn Suites if you want seperate rooms. Otherwise you may want to consider renting a house.

If there is anyway possible, with two toddlers, I would try to stay somewhere on site. It would give you the freedom of meeting everyone's needs better. Parents and babies could take an afternoon break or grandparents could call it an evening early. The bus service is quick and easy from the parks to the resort. We like the all star resorts and they will get you the best value on site. There is no kitchen area, but a nice food court and a big cooler helped us out there. We had done disney with our son, but not at that age. Our next trip will however include our toddler and I know it will be a whole new world. Sorry but I don't know much about off site hotels.

Last time we went to wdw (with 7 and 5 year old) we booked 2 connecting rooms at all stars. This gave us the convenience of being on site, and gave us a lot of room to spread out, and a little bit of privacy. Both kids had their own beds and we had 2 bathrooms - so if someone was taking a bath, we could still get in the shower and get ready for the day. This was the cheapest on-site option we could find (cheaper than an on-site suite). But, there is no kitchen. And there are probably off site suites at a better price.
Also - in theory WDW will not guarantee connecting rooms UNLESS you say that young children only will be in one room. And be sure you specify CONNECTING and not adjacent.

I have to second the opinion of WDWguru...DVC would be the best way to go. I would suggest a 2-bedroom and a studio for a group of 8 adults and 2 infants, and I think OKW would be the best resort as your chances of having the 2-bedroom and studio in the same building are better than trying to get 2 rooms close together at BWV, BCV, or WLV. Should the babies need down-time before the adults, you could always use Disney's transportation to get back to the resort while other members stayed in the parks. We have always advised friends with young children(under 6) to stay on-site, and given the same advice for folks with "old" kids(over 13) who might want the freedom to explore parks without the parents.
