Our Experience Using the "Refresh Method"

OP here...nope, we were a party of 3. And I've had the same success rate with a party of 5.

Agree. While party size does have impact, I don't think it's as big as we think. I've searched for 1, 2, 3, and 5 regularly and there is some difference but often it's not dramatic. Searching for 2 does not guarantee me a good outcome on difficult to get FPs. I searched for TT with my daughter tonight. Each of us looking for a party of one at the same time. No luck in about 15-20 mins on constant searching (and since there were two of us that's really more like 40).

We’ve found that searching for a group of 5 is much easier than splitting up in 2 and 3.

We also found “catch and release” to be the most effective for us.

Take the first available time for your intended attraction then refresh a few more times until a better time shows up. Keep trading up until you get the time frame that you want.

Just popping in to share my experience and to say that this is totally the way to do it. My friend and her 2 kids are at AK today. I'm slow at work today so I told her I would be her fastpass concierge. As soon as they scan at a touchpoint, she texts me and I get to looking...doing this, they've ridden KS (orig FP), Everest twice (one orig FP), Navi river once, and FOP once(orig FP) with a 2nd FOP coming up soon. I'm amazed at how many FOP FPs are available...at one point in refreshing, I had 3 different FOP FPs pop up all within the next 2 hours. We're going in June and I hope we have the same experience!

She said it's very slow at AK today. They've been there since the 9th and she said every day except MK day was pretty slow (MK is never slow LMAO)

Great job! I just got back last night and didn't have luck with FOP for my family of 4. We were at AK last Friday and Tuesday. We did rope drop it Tuesday but tried a lot to get it again. In retrospect I should have split up looking for 2. I actually think I did do that for a good 30 minutes. Did have Navi pop up here and there.

I'm so impressed everyone's had such good luck with this! We traveled this past Dec 7-14, with a party of 5, and had very little luck, even dividing into 2s/3s. Couldn't get any headliners at any park, even non-headliners were slim pickings, at all parks. And I refreshed over and over after I checked in for my 3rd FP around noon. It was busy, but not Christmas crazy. I was disappointed. I'll have to try it again when just DH and I go in late Jan/early Feb next year.

I did this for my daughter and her friends on their HS band trip last year. By the end of the trip, her friends were calling me a Disney God.

On an old thread you asked @AngiTN about use of the website over the app and to explain. I'm pretty sure what she means is she uses a browser on her phone and visits her MDE account there through the Disney website. I can take it one step further and tell you that you can view the desktop version on your phone instead of the mobile version. There should be 3 dots where the web address is. Click on that to see the drop down menu and choose desktop version. Hope I've helped!

I was doing the same thing playing with refresh today for fop and got the same results but I’m not getting my hopes up that February will be same as high season when I go end of March but fingers crossed because 30 day coming up and I know we won’t be able to get FOP that way

Wow, I got a few extra FP today at MK using refresh, but was unable to get SDMT or anything at the other parks. (Was trying to hop)
Couple of points, we started our day at noon, and were done with first three FP at 3pm.

Not sure how others are doing it, but the earlier you start your day the better the success rate

The prime time to grab seems to be 10-3 or so and then near the top of the hour 4-6. That's the pattern we noticed. Once you get past 6 or 7 they are hard to come by
