Our experience at National car rental

We booked our car with National last week with the Emerald Isle Club. We arrived at the isle with the Emerald cars and saw two cars there. The first one looked like it had a flat tire and the hood was opened. So we walk over to the next car. We open the door and another family is walking towards it and said "they told US to take that car". The mom headed back to National window. We waited before putting our stuff in the car. While waiting we notice there is no keys in the ignition. So DH heads over to the National window also. While I was waiting, the lights on the car flash. I figured it was DH with the keys. But it was another family. I said oh you have the keys and laughed. I was trying to be funny but this family just got rude and said "we have the keys its ours". I said yes I understand I just thought it was funny that is the 3rd family trying to get the car. (I really did think it was funny, but they kept on with their attitude of that it's theirs) So anyways I see DH walking over with a rep. from National. In the meantime he has no idea about the rude family. I hear him talking to the lady and saying I guess that car is gone. (as it drives away) he is also laughing about it. So then the lady tells us will have to wait till they can get another car for us. This is when DH and another guy complaining about no cars gets upset. My DH says no we are not going to wait. You have a few cars over here at the Emerald Excutive Isle. He says I reserved a car with Emerald Isle so we did not have to wait. She then signs our paper saying it was ok to take one from that isle.

Some people are too uptight on vacation, eh? Maybe they had a stressful flight So what kind of car did you end up with and what was your rate?

I am not even sure. I do know it was a full size Buick. It had a few scratches on it. We did get what we paid for. Our price with all taxes came out to $183.00 ish. We had it for 6 nights 7 days.

Decent rate considering what they have been as of late. I guess I may never find as good a deal I had in May. 7 nights Alamo SUV for $123 all tax included. That was such a bargain!

At Alamo once I got out to my car and another family was in it. I said "Hmmm...did they give us both the same car?" and they said, "no , they gave us this car but we don't like it, we're changing to another one" and I said "okay" and I waited. And waited. And waited! They didn't budge! I asked them if someone had gone to get the other car and they said "yes, they gave us another car, my brother is driving it around here to pick up our stuff". And I waited. And I am a very patient person. And I waited some more. And finally I said "well, I'm sorry, but I really have to get moving." I mean, it had been like TEN MINUTES now! "Maybe you could take your things out of the trunk and get ready, or just move over there a bit and wait for the other car....I really need to take this car and go". They were Asian and one of them was translating what I'd said to the others. AND THEY JUST ALL SAT THERE IN THE CAR AND STARED OUT THE WINDOWS LIKE THEY WEREN'T GOING TO BUDGE!

I wasn't going to take on 4 karate kids and their grandma so I walked back to the counter and said "someone else has this car, please give me another one." Then the damn printer went out and they couldn't print me my new document or whatever the heck was going on, so I waited another five minutes. Finally I got another car and walked BACK out to the cars and got in my car which was RIGHT NEXT to the other car. AND THEY WERE STILL IN IT! I put my car in reverse and YOU GUESSED IT. Brother finally showed up with their new car and he was BLOCKING ME IN. I tooted my horn ever so lightly and he got out of the car and they all started their shuffle and slow. I opened my window and said to the girl who spoke English, "please, would you ask him to move ahead just a little, I'm sorry but I don't have time to wait for you to move all your bags". She got an incensed look on her face and SCREAMED at me "WHY ARE YOU BEING SUCH A BIT***!!!"

oh well, i guess they'd had a long overseas flight or something! I didn't let it ruin my day!
