01/26/07 ~ Dinner ~POR Riverside Mill Food Court

We had originally planned on dining at Raglan Road but were too tired to head over there so we decided to just walk around the resort, check it out and eat at the food court.

We arrived at Riverside Mill Food Court and it did not seem all that busy. Some food stations were more crowded than others so DH and I split up to get everything and met back up at the checkout. They took our Disney Dining Experience card which I didn’t think they were on the list but hey 20% off!! Whoo hoo…

I had the Cheeseburger platter with fries. It hit the spot. It wasn’t overly great but a cafeteria style burger and fries and I was hungry. DH had the Chicken Ptarmigan plate and he said they pretty much used a can of tomato paste for the sauce. He was so hungry and such a believer in not wasting food that he ate his as well. DD had the chicken nugget child’s platter with fries and applesauce. She loved it. Youngest DD shared our French fries. DH and I had soft drinks and we bought DD a “juicey box” as she refers to the drink boxes.

01/27/07 ~ Breakfast ~ lovely window side seat at table 2527 in Alligator Bayou

We usually bring breakfast snacks for the room or we eat at the resort food court. I have found that breakfast at the fast food type food courts to pretty much be the same no matter which WDW resort you are staying in. We really didn’t want to waste time and money on eating out – much rather have TS lunch and dinner so I planned for us to eat in the room.

DH and I had mini bagels from Publix and gasp coffee! (I never drink this, it’s for grownups!) DD had mini bagels, banana and dry Cheerios and other DD had bananas and dry Cheerios! Now one thing I forgot was a knife to spread the cream cheese…so here I sit bending a coffee stirrer in half using it as a knife. McGuyver would have been proud!

Yummy, can’t go wrong to hit the spot. DH and then decided we were on vacation so we would start the Expedition with a nice Mike’s Hard Lemonade…I’ll never tell if we really drank one or not.

Lunch ~ Flame Tree BBQ in Animal Kingdom

Love this place. The only TS in AK is the RFC and we are not overly impressed with that joint so we planned to eat at FTB. I had the Pulled Pork Sandwich with beans and corn on the cob, DH had the rib basket with beans and corn on the cob, an order of onion rings and fries, two cokes, two beers and one $6.79 sprite in a kids cup. DH loved his ribs and I got one onion ring….DD ate both of our corns and a few ribs, she may have gotten a few more onion rings than I. I loved the pulled pork sand…it was so awesome the bread was nice and soft and I needed no sauce whatsoever….they take the dining card as well…so 20% off here. The atmosphere is a little chaotic in line but we headed down to a section of seats over the little brook and you can see Everest in the background. Very relaxing and beautiful. Lots of bougainvilleas and birds and ducks to watch.

Dinner ~ Concourse Steakhouse

My original itinerary had us at Spoodles but they could not accommodate an extra person so we decided to try the Concourse Steakhouse. We had a 7:30 reservation, we arrived, valet parked and went upstairs to check in. We received our pager and went to shop, within 5 minutes they were paging us. We had a nice large round table but were pretty close to others around us. It was pretty darn noisy and everytime Chef Mickey’s did the napkin waving you could see the shadows as well as hear pretty much everything. Not a big deal to us as we had to little girls with us and they love making noise. But it’s not a quiet romantic type restaurant.

For some reason we didn’t order an appetizer for everyone but DD got shrimp cocktail, she ate it all. DH had a Bud, I had a Riesling, Dsis had Sprite and the girls had water. My sister ordered the Filet with mashed potatoes, I had the 16 oz prime rib with mashed potatoes, DH had the sirloin, DD had the tie dye grilled cheese with fries. The grilled cheese went uneaten except for the fries. She wanted steak so she ate most of mine. I ordered it rare but it came out pretty done, I understand that certain points of the night certain cuts may be gone but I would rather the waiter come and say “hey – we only have xx left would you rather have something else?” The mashed potatoes were good. DH was disappointed that there was no big steak – no T bone, etc. Once again he’ll eat pretty much anything and he was the only one in the clean plate club that night. I wanted dessert here because I wanted to order a 50th celebration dessert…the waiter informed me that was not on the menu anymore. Well I ordered no dessert. They also take the DDE card so we enjoyed 20% off our meal.

I am glad we went, we probably won’t be back, DH likes Le Cellier better. And if we are coming to the Contemporary it will be for California Grill or Chef Mickey’s.

We rounded out the night by tailgaitin’ at Alligator Bayou, no one was around and no porch to sit on so we pretty much dangled our feet over the edge of the bed and let our imagination run away with us.

01/28/06 ~ Breakfast ~ lovely window side seat at table 2527 in Alligator Bayou

Same deal today for breakfast.

Now my original plan called for lunch at Biergarten….but we decided to go to MGM…thanks guys. I called last minute to get a lunch reservation at 50’s Prime Time…done!

Lunch ~ 50’s Prime Time Café

We had a 12:20pm reservation but since the first stunt show was canceled they had given us a FP to come back to the 1 something showing and we decided to hit the PTC early to see if we could get in. The lady in front of us had issues…her reservation had been lost! SO after a 5 minute dealing with her, they went to check me in…they couldn’t find my reservation and at this point they were telling people if you don’t have a ressie they were booked until after 1pm. She gave us a buzzer and we were seated within 5 minutes. We were seated at a table for 4 right next to a table for 2 and we were almost on top of the couple. We didn’t care but I am sure they didn’t like it. I loved the campy theme in this place. Our server was totally not in to it at all. We did hear Little Bunny Foo Foo, I’m a Little Teapot and the whole elbows off the table from others and it seemed like loads of fun. We started off with drinks. DD and Dsis got the Mickey BeBop light up cherry sprite, DH had Dad’s Electric Lemonade and I had Grandma’s Picnic Punch. They were yummy!!!

DH had the chicken pot pie, I had the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans, Dsis had the turkey sandwich and DD had the chicken nuggets with fries. Everyone liked theirs but Dsis…she first asked for no mayo and it came smothered in mayo…then it was on rye which seemed kind of stale and the chips were as well. DH ate his pot pie so fast no one got a bite! My fried chicken was awesome! The green beans were great as well and I had ordered an extra plate of them for the baby, she loved them. The mashed potatoes were great!! I loved the food! DH decided to have a strawberry shake, DD had the make your own Sundae, Dsis and the baby had nothing and I tried Dad’s Electric Lemonade….yummm!! The shake was awesome! The Sundae was fun because it had all the little sprinkles to do yourself.

PTC also takes the DDE card so we enjoyed 20% off here as well. We loved this place. The food is pretty heavy for lunch, I would rather go back for dinner. We will definitely be back here and hopefully our waiter/waitress will be more in to the antics.

Dinner ~ Boatwright’s POR

Of course we were off track from my already planned and scheduled itinerary. We had ADR’s fpr Coral Reef, but I didn’t feel like lugging everyone into Epcot…(we have a double stroller, diaper bag and two princesses!) So we called to see if we could switch to Boatwright’s…wow she asked if we could be there in 10 minutes, yep! So my sister decides to eat with her boyfriend and they went to Macaroni Grill. We got the girls ready and trekked on over to the restaurant. We spotted several bunnies on the way and kept a watchful eye out for those Gators….J We were given a pager and went to check out the arcade…we were there probably 15 minutes before being paged. We were seated at a corner table for 4 but once again there was a family right next to us. I am particular to not dining on top of others. I started out with the Southern Belle and DH had some concoction with Jack in it….DD had Sprite and the baby had water. The drinks were yummy but I was dismayed when the waiter took the drink menu away after we ordered them. He didn’t know who he was dealing with here. So for dinner I thought I would try the Prime Rib, our waiter informed us that nothing was really Cajun or spicy or authentic on the menu which is what we were hoping for….so I ordered prime rib, rare, DH had the BBQ Glazed Ribs, and DD had the chicken tenders…..the prime rib was way overcooked but still edible, DH brought the ribs back to the room – I think he was ribbed out from before and DD ate her fries. The food wasn’t that bad but it wasn’t anything to write home about either. We would return if we were staying here again to try something different but would not make a trip over for this restaurant alone.

They also took 20% with the DDE card! Gotta love that thing!

01/29/05 ~ ~ Breakfast ~ lovely window side seat at table 2527 in Alligator Bayou

I had planned on dining in MK but we decided to go back to AK to get a lanyard and pin for DD since she is the newest passholder in the family and we didn’t have her pass on Friday yet. And we ended up having lunch at FTB again. For some reason I was really in a meat and bbq kind of mood this weekend. It was delicious as before.

We tried a couple new places this trip and are no where that we usually dine. It seems as though after reading this we ate the same stuff over and over again, ?? who knows??!!

Now I can’t wait to make those March dining reservations!

Thanks for writing! We had a similar experience at 50's Prime Time. Loved the food, got a waiter who wasn't into playing. :sad1: But like you, we loved it and will go back! We also deviated from our well thought out dining plan too.

Thanks for the review, I also travelled to WDW and other places when my girls were that age, and they always ended up eating my food....

The burning question in my mind is....

After that first day did you get a knife from the food court to spread your cream cheese?

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:
sometimes the stupidest things stick in my mind...

Actually we did get a knife but it was from Flame Tree BBQ!! :) Believe me, spreading cream cheese with a coffee stirrer is darn hard!
