Day 4
We spent the morning on the Around the World---on a Segway tour. Lots of fun and I learned from a family who was also on the tour that there are segway guided tours in major cities all over the world. How fun is that?
By the time we finished it was nearly 11:30 and we didnt have lunch ressies until 2. Looking for a snack, we hopped into the bakery in Norway. Ive had rice cream before and remembered not enjoying it, but I ordered it again. It just looks so tempting with all of that strawberry sauce poured on top. It is cool and sweet but I think what gets me is that it isnt smooth like rice pudding
the rice is crunchy like old, cold rice from yesterdays take-out.
Shawn ordered a sweet pretzel. I think he was looking for something more like those giant pretzels at Wetzels Pretzels. This was more like the sweet, flaky dough that is used to make Danish horns formed into a giant pretzel shape and then drizzled with icing. It was good and he finished it but when hes hungry he seeks out something a bit more substantial.
We paired our snacks with an iced tea and a diet coke, sat outside and enjoyed a little conversation under the covered patio.
By 2:00, we were patiently waiting for a seat at Sci-Fi Dine-In. The theming really is fun here although it is a bit strange to be seated in a car with other families. Our car had three tables and we were smack dab in the middle.
For our appetizer we both ordered onion rings. Shawn prefers tiny straw cut onion rings and these were not those. These were thick cut, lots of batter, very tasty onion rings. Unfortunately, I have to have bbq sauce with my onion rings which I ordered when I ordered my appetizer. It took many requests to get the bbq sauce to the table.
A quick note here that I had to have a drink with the glow cube inside. I didnt have one at Prime Time a few days before but now I really wanted one. It wasnt covered on the plan and with tax and tip, it cost me $8.00 out of pocket for a soda in a keepsake glass with a glow cube inside.
Shawn had a bbq chicken sandwich with fries. It was okay, maybe not even that. As hungry as he was he didnt eat much of it. We really were here at this restaurant so he could experience it but he really just wanted to get out of there. We had some problems with the family seated in front of us but thats behind us now.
I know, I know
I should have stuck with the sandwiches when at sci-fi but I really was craving pasta and the shrimp penne called my name. It was awfully salty and did I enjoy it? No.
It was too dark for me to take pictures and as you can see with the sandwich the pix just werent coming out so I opted to skip pix of dessert. Shawn had a chocolate sundae which he enjoyed and I had an apple crumble that I didnt enjoy.
As I mentioned before the theming in this restaurant is fantastic. The food is mediocre at best and as mentioned before very, very expensive for such mediocre food. This meal came to exactly $80 after tax and tip. But what I havent heard before is how rushed you are in this restaurant. The waitress made us order all three courses in the beginning. Nowhere else were we asked to do this. The onion rings were out within minutes. We hadnt even received the bbq sauce to try the onion rings before the entrees were out. We were half way through eating those when the dessert arrived. The tables arent very big at all and we were definitely squished for room with three courses and our drinks covering every square inch of our dining table.
I have to run errands this morning but Ill get to our extremely enjoyable evening at Rose & Crown later today.
