Well it took a few tries, but I finally got a room booked at the DLH. I have a reservation at the Hojo for 5/1/04 to 5/6/04 but I was able to get a pool view room at DLH for 5/1 to 5/3.They have no more rooms available after the 3rd or before the 1st. I always wanted to go to DLR and stay at the DLH since I been a kid. My birthday is on the second and I think my family will enjoy their stay there. Will it be a downer to move to the Hojo from the DLH on the 3rd and will my kids like the pools at Hojo after staying at the DLH? We plan on doing Sea World and Universal the days we are at the Hojo and maybe one last day at DL. The question is am I crazy to do this when I have a perfectly good hotel all ready booked? The DLH is expensive compared to the Hojo and this started out to be a cheap trip to DL. I'm amazed that all of the rooms are booked at all of the Disney resorts for that week and even the 3 Disney operators that I dealt with were suprised also. Do you think the parks are going to be a madhouse that entire week? I knoe DL is closed for the 4th and I figured to go to Sea World that day. One last question. I think I should get a late night flight form Chicago on the 30th and try and find a cheap place to stay for one night so I can get a full day at the parks and at DLH? Where do you recomend to stay for one night?

The last time I went in May it was May 2nd to be exact, my b-day is on the 3rd ... and the park was really empty ... I found it odd ... maybe it was a fluke though.

And I don't think you are crazy for doing the hotel shuffle ... if that's the only way you can stay at the dlh, ... if you can't wait to stay at the dlh in the future do it now

I'm thinking about flying out Saturday night. That way I can hit the ground running Sunday and not be so burnt out from flying four hours from Chicago. Plus If I take a later flight my (2 twin boys age 7) might sleep a little on the plane, I hope! If anybody can recomend a place to stay for one night that's clean, affordable, and close to DL let me know. Thanks for the info so far.I'm sure I'm not the only one who does the hotel shuffle. It seems like a lot of hotels are booked solid for the week, I hope I can get one close by for just one night. pirate: Also how long of a park hopper should I get? I'm going to be there 5/1 to 5/6 at least. I might fly out Saturday morning instead of Friday night. Once again thank you for any help! pirate:

Don't forget that May 4th DL will be closed in preparation for the anniversary kickoff on the 5th. DCA will still be open that day. That's probably the reason DLH had no rooms left.

I don't think you are crazy for switching hotels and fullfilling a dream of staying at the Disneyland Hotel. I too had that dream when I was a child and loved every minute at the hotel when I was an adult. You have a great birthday there. :)

I agree. It does seem odd that all rooms are booked. I attempted to book a room @ the Poly, cl (WDW) for this same time period and were told that all concierge level rooms are sold out. What! the whole building, weird. So I think that it just may be a zoo for that time period. Just think of all the special stuff that Disney will have going on. It's prob. going to te packed but loads of fun. congrad's on the ressies and have a great time.

You know what, we thought we were crazy for spending extra money on a DL hotel last time we were there, but we figured what the heck, it's our vacation. We were so very not sorry!!! I can't even tell you why, but it was important to us, and now we wouldn't even dream of staying somewhere else. So I say, go for it! If you want to stay at the DLH, go for it! Part of the trip is better than none, if only so that you can fulfill a lifelong dream.

I've heard good things about the HoJo, by the way.

The parkhopper you get is up to you, but you probably won't be able to purchase it until after January, so you have time to decide. How many days you'll be at the park is a big factor, of course. :)

I bet all of the big WDW and DL rooms will be booked for the kickoff of the 50th on the 5th- I know DL has some big stuff planned and so does WDW for that day-

As for the crowd level- I havent heard how bad itll be but personally if you arn't gungho for the ceremonies I'd avoid DL the 4-5 and poss the 6th due to tremendous crowds...

May 5th 2005 is the official start date for the "Happiest Celebration on Earth" for DL . Thge other theme parks are having there own celebrations too. However it's really all about DL's 50 years (1955-2005). It'll last from what I've been told, all year long. Disney.com website just recently posted information as well as packages for rooms/tickets for that weekend and so everyone is booking there rooms as quick as possible. On that paticuliar weekend (May 5th-8th) they are having special honorary guests (Julie Andrews) as well as others to open the festivities. It's a big deal and as another person posted, DL will be closed ALL day on May 4th for last minute preparations. It's great that you actually were able to book a room. I would advise anyone interested in coming to book A.S.A.P. Because the rooms are selling out like hotcakes. This goes for all other theme parks too. Not sure if date is the same though for the other theme parks but just check there website. Me and my hubby booked one for GC for that weekened. It's going to be a wonderful event. Have a great time... ::MinnieMo
