OUR DISNEY STORE IS CLOSING!? anybody else's?

The Disney store at the Freehold Raceway Mall is re-opening in a few months in the old CVS location. If you need a disney fix try the outlet store in Jackson.

Am I the only person who doesn't miss them?

I loved this store before Children's Place took over. Now I don't even bother to go in. Thier "adult" stuff is just horrid!

Yea, the adult stuff is horrid. I will NEVER understand why Disney Stores can't offer more/better adult items. More collectible items would be nice too, I used to LOVE the Disney Gallery stores. I really miss those.

I don't care for the Disney Store as much since CP took them over either, but I still stop in when I'm at the mall. I loved Studio collection stuff and I have gotten some really good deals on some things. Plus I still have nieces that have to have their Princess and Hannah Montana fixes.

The higher ups came to the stores yesterday morning & told all the staff. Most of the mgrs had been there 10 years or more! I know several of them go to WDW several times a year & are big fans....the store is losing out there too as I know they spent lots of $ in the parks & on AP's.

I've heard of several "outlets" opening up--maybe they are going that way. I know Children's Place is having problems. I wish Disney had kept the stores & not sold out.

The store in Atlanta is out towards Suwanee....Discover Mills? maybe? My SIL went the day they opened a few weeks ago & got some great buys.

Went in there today and asked...YES sadly it is closing and I said my goodbyes..Asked if anything would be clearanced further and was told no it would just all get shipped to another store. They wondered how I knew because they just found out and I said I read it on the internet. They gave me a number to call and complain to and I will, but I am sure little ol' me will have no effect on them. I just feel bad that they really gave the employees no warning and no real time to find another job. :sad2:

oh no! How sad. It truely is a crime when a Disney store closes. *having a moment of silence* I hope that the one closest to me (40 mins) doesn't close. I would be in serious withdrawal!! Just got some great clearance deals there on Saturday!!!

We lost ours a couple of years ago. DSIL and I will not go into the store that took its place. Not their fault, but it just makes us sad.

See, I love the Children's Place...can't resist some of their clothes! And you can find some REALLY good deals there.

I can't speak for all places, but this is a very common business practice in the restaurant business .. at least in my hometown. I had a friend employed with Don Pablo's who showed up for her shift one morning to a "We're closed, sorry" sign and started trying to reach management. Turns out the company was filing bankruptcy and she might not even be receiving her last paycheck. This also happened when our mall expanded and closed one of the restaurants ... the only reason the staff found out in any amount of time was b/c they read about it in the newspaper. I don't know if this is "normal" but I always assumed it was b/c they didn't want to tell you they were closing so you would quit and leave them short staffed.

Glad to hear that. We were at Freehold Raceway Mall on Monday and were so bummed the Disney store was gone. You would think there'd be a sign posted up or something telling you that the store was reopening, but we didn't see one. Good to know though that it will be back. That was the whole reason we drove up to Freehold-for their big Disney store.

Jackson outlet...was there two weeks ago...its better than nothing, but 90% of the store was all stuff for those with little little kids...not us BIG kids! :rotfl:

I loved this store before Children's Place took over. Now I don't even bother to go in. Thier "adult" stuff is just horrid!

The first years I went to the US on vacation during summer (1998-2002), I LOVED the Disney Store. At that time, I didn't have a lot of money to spend there (all the money had gone to the flights, lol), and I was always drewling over the collectibles etc. The "adult" stuff.
Fast forward to 2005. I am finally again on vacation in the US, in San Francisco, and our first mission there was NOT to see the Golden Gate Bridge or ride the cable car, nope, first missionwas to go to the Disney Store.
OMG! It was such a disappointing experience. The only thing they had was kids stuff! Out of pure misery, I bought a CD, just for the sake of buying something!
Since then, I have ordered a couple of times from the webiste. The Disney Shopping website, is it Disney-owned or by the company that owns the Disney Stores? (Btw, that website used to be better too.)

Since Disney sold WDCC to Enesco, that went downhill too :(
It's sad....

i thought westchester closed years ago?:confused3

the one in the westchester mall closed about a year and a half ago and then there was still one in the cross county mall, yonkers that just closed

The one in the Annapolis Mall here closed in 2004...but is reopening again later this year:banana: .

Can't wait....I've been driving to the one in Columbia Md. for the past 4 years.

I AM so upset! Just got the word thru a friend that works there & they were just told TODAY they were closing March 9. Anybody else heard anything? Granted this isn't the biggest town but the mall is the biggest in our state (TN) & they always are CROWDED.

Not looking forward to any budget buys which I guess is a change for this board...more bummed than anything else....They already were putting out the spring stuff!

I know an outlet just opened in Atlanta so I don't think it's a nationwide thing.

Location is in Chattanooga btw.....mall is right on I-75!

:wave2: Hey neighbor :) I just got this same information through a YahooGroup I'm a member of with ladies here in Chattanooga (homeschoolers). It's sad :( We didn't go in there a lot but we still enjoyed having it available when we needed/wanted something from the Disney store or saw something online that we wanted to try on or see in person before buying.

I can't believe the Burlington, MA store is closing too!! They are right accross from the Rainforest Cafe so it's like a little DTD fake getaway that our family LOVES!!! I am so bummed!!

It's sad that some are closing. Our only store is 20 minutes away. They closed the one in the other mall years ago.

I like some stuff, but I wish they had more adult stuff and more traditional boys stuff. I want stuff other than Cars clothes for my DS. FFIL is a HUGE Tigger fan, and the only stuff they ever have is for way older or for girls. FMIL and I went last week, ready to spend quite a bit, but couldn't find enough to spend money on.

Also, they need more Ariel stuff. It's mostly Cindy here.

I tend to find a lot of Princess stuff in ours but I so love the DS in Wyoming. MI better.

It is suppose to open in the Summer. The Mall said that the store has not signed the contract. We drive to the new Disney Store in Arundel Mills Mall now.
