I think my report got lost in cyber space, so I am trying again.
This was our first trip to DWD. We had 2 rooms at ASSp and were on the free dining. "We" consisted of DH(who finished chemo 3 months ago and needs knee replacement, who was a trooper through our whole trip) DS14(computer geek), DS13(basketball nut), DS11(quiet, shy type) and myself(the glue that hold this all together). We left Ontario Aug 19 on a road trip to Florida.
Sun. Aug 28--arrived a t 8:30 after a 2 hour drive from Sarasota. Our room was ready so we unpacked, wiped our brow and whatever else needed wiping and got to Epcot by 10:00. We did Spaceship Earth then got FP for TT(60 min waite) After Mission Space(very close to getting sick) and Ellen's Energy(better than I thought it would be)we went back to TT. Then we got FP for Soarin. Did Honey I shrunk the Audience(DS11 vowed he wounldn't do 3D's any more), Figment, Imageworks(sent a post card from Kodac) and Circle of Life. Soarin was good and long enough for me but DH thought it should have been longer. Innovations E & W we found was for younger kids. We were tired so went to Uk. Our ressies were for Rose and Crown at 5:30. but they took us at 4:30-no prob. Our steaks were very good. We headed back to the room too tired for Illuminations.
Mon Aug 29--were at AK at 9am and did Safaris, Jungle Trek, Kali River x2. Tarzan Rocks was better than I thought because of neg. comments here, but we enjoyed it. Then to Primeval Whirl, Dinosaur x2(yes I screamed both times). The carvings on the Tree of Life were beautiful and Tough to be a Bug was the best 3D(DS11 did go in but sat at the end of the row by himself and refused to put the glasses on). We had lunch at Flame Tree BBQ--great ribs. The Festival of the Lion King is a must see. I think the best show in all DWD. We went back to the room for a swim and a beer(not the kids) and a rest. Had dinner at 5:30 at Concourse-our family's favourite dinner. Went to MK. Rode the WDW RR. Saw Pirates and Jungle Cruise(which we all hated--because it was at night? or just that the CM was bad?) Saw SpectoMagic and Wishes. We all enjoyed these. Despite all the people, the crowds moved well and no wait for the bus.
Tues Aug 30--MK at 9am opening. Went to Spash M. but it was closed due to "techniocal difficulties". Did Thunder x2 and HM then back to Splash which was open this time. Did Small world(which was truly magical)Peter Pan, PhilharMagic(DS11-remember him - refused to do this) SpaceMountain(I think I am still bruised from this one) We waisted 10 min. for Astro Orbitor which we all think was the worst ride at WDW and should be replaced. Had lunch at Cosmic Rays. (burgers were good) Then did Indy speedway (not worth it if you had to waite) before going back to ASSp. Dinner was at Whispering Canyon so we took the bus to MK then the boat to WL. The boat ride was so calming. and we fed the ducks at the dock. My kids found Whispering Canyon too noisy!?? After dinner DH and DS11 went back to room and I took DS14 7 DS13 to Disney Quest. Back to room by 11pm
Wed Aug 31--Typhoon Lagoon at 10:00. Every one did there own thing--mostly the wave pool. Had lunch at TyphoonTilley's After more time at the wave pool it started to pour rain and the attractions were closed. Not much coverage there so all our stuff was soaked so we headed back to room-about 2pm. After a rest and drying out we headed to dinner at Chef Mickeys. On the Monorail we got to ride up front with the driver(DH rode in the next car as only 4 are allowed in with the driver). The veiw wasn't that great as it was raining a bit, but still magical. We got our little cards. Dinner was good. DS11 said this was the best. He liked the characters and the dessert bar. Went aback to ASSp to swim and relax.
Thurs Sept 1--Studios at 9am opening. Did ToT(and never again-it even scared the boys-DH and DS11 did not go on)RnR x2, Sounds Dangerous-was better than I thought because you don't hear much about it. Star tours. Indiana Jones(very good), and Muppets Lunch was at ABC Commonsary. We saw the 1pm show of LMA. It was stopped part way through due to "electrical activity in the area". Started back up after about 15 min. Did Animations, but a while before the next drawing class so we went back to ASSp. Left for Studios for dinner at 4:30 but waited an hour before the bus came, so we were late for our 5:20 ressies at H & V. We only had to waite 5 min to get seated. As dinner ended we were given passes for the Fantasmic seating.(some Pixie Dust) Thought we would do something before the show, but Backlot Tours and Millionaire were closed. Got to Fantasmic around 8pm. A CM lead us in the wave-doing it slow/fast/with clapping etc Lots of fun. Fantasmic is the best night show.
Fri Sept 2--BB at 10:00 Lots more shade here than TL. Again every one did their own thing. Lunch was at Lotta Watta. After trying to find the entrance to Teamboat unsucessfully, did the lazy river. Then Storm warning came so we collected our things and went back to the room.. Didn't feel like getting caught in it again. Rested in our rooms for a bit. and left late for our ressies at Ohana's due to pouring rain and "I'm not wearing THAT"(poncho) discussion. Despite almost being an hour late we were seated almost immediatetely. Dinner was delicious and I loved the decor. I took DS13 & DS11 to Disney Quest. and the others went back to ASSp.
Sat. Sept 3(our 17th anniversarry)Afterpacking we had breakfast at EndZone(first meal here) then headed out on our 24 hour trek home(with one night stop)
The only thing that could have made this trip better was if it were cooler. We had no lines, generally nice people, great rooms and buses were good except for one time. And best of all our family was all together.
