We were at WDW 3-26 - 3-30
There were 11 of us (not always eating at the same place though)
We were on the dining plan and had ADR's for all the TS.
Boma's - I really love this place so wanted to take my sister and her family to it for our first night. But I was nervous that they wouldn't like it so it took away my enjoyment. Boma's is just one of those restaurants that is hard to describe to others. My sister and her DH loved it. It was very busy but we only had to wait about 10 minutes. The seafood gumbo soup and zebra domes were a huge hit. My BIL loved the Tiramasu. Our waiter was wonderful (I thought we would float away as he kept bringing us drinks). There were 9 of us at this dinner and our service was wonderful.
Princess Bkfst at Norway
Huge disappointment. I had taken our dd (3) last year and the service, food, princess interaction were wonderful. This year it was me, my dd, my sister and her two dd's (4&6). Our ADR's were at 10:20. We got called at 11:10. I hate that you have to stand right by the podium to hear your name. Get a mic or a bullhorn. The host was extremely rude and if you didn't hear your name right away he would go onto the next name and make you wait another 10-15 minutes. So I practically stood on top of him to hear our name. We got to meet Belle and took pics, etc. She was very nice. Our server was very nice as well but the princesses, well, they certainly were lacking disney magic. We saw Snow White, Aurora, Mary Poppins (is she really a princess??) and Jasmine. They ran to and from our table like their feet were on fire. They would not take separate pics with the girls, we had to do all three at once. DD had spilled milk and as I was trying to clean it up off the floor, Jasmine came over and I asked her to wait a minute while I cleaned it up. She looked at me like I had asked her to give me her jewelry. So I'm trying to clean up milk, the girls are squeezing in for a pic and Aurora is right behind her (I swear she was tapping her foot). It was a major disappoinment. Last year the princesses actually sat with my dd and talked with her. We thought Muluan would never leave!! Needless to say, my sister was less than impressed. The food was good but they were rushing us as they were starting the lunch rush. Not sure we will return for that one.
Concourse Steak House
This is my DH's favorite place. It was me, DH and our niece (11), nephews (11 &13). I'm not a huge fan as I don't eat red meat and there was only one pasta dish and one chicken dish offered. I had the chicken and it was good. We got onion rings, scallops, and wings as apps. They were all very good (and a lot of it). DH and the kids (I'm sorry Adults according to Disney since they are over 9) all had steaks and said they were fab. DH had the butterfinger cheesecake for desert and the rest of us had the chocolate cake. All were great. The adults (aka kids) had smoothies for their beverage (included in the DP). They were thrilled.
Crystal Palace Dinner
Me, DH, our DD, and 4 & 6 year old nieces. Service was wonderful (except for the hostess who knocked over my niece and then glared at her as if it was her fault). Server was very apologetic about it (even though he didn't do it). Character interaction was great - and they let us take separate pics of the girls. Food was ok. The mediterrian salad was wonderful as was the chipolte butter for the rolls. The girls were thrilled with the shrimp; we were less than thrilled to have to peel of them. The desserts were probably the best part - apple cobbler and tiramasu for the adults, ice cream and warm chocolate chip cookies for the girls. There was also key lime pie and peanut butter brownies but we had to show some restraint!! Will return to this one again.
Wilderness Lodge - Whispering Canyon
My sister, her DH and their older kids went to this. Per their report, they had a great time. Sounds like they got a great waiter - he did the ketchup thing, announced when they didn't eat their vegetables, had everyone make airplane noises to get my niece to eat her potatoes, etc. They said the food was good, but there was too much and they couldn't eat it all. They ordered off the menu. But apparently they were able to finish their dessert - go figure!!
Sci-Fi Dine In
This was all of us
We hadn't been there in years and knew the kids would like it. We had to wait about 20 min. past our ADR. I forgot how dark it is in there (and quiet). We got two cars right up front and we were probably making the most noise. Our car got the BLT soup (which was very good) onion rings (very yummy) and the artichoke dip which DH said was very good. We wouldn't know since he ate it before we could get a chip in it. Me and my nephew ordered the BBQ chicken sandwich and it was awful. The bun was stale and the chicken was so dry. It came with onion straws on it and they were practically burned. The fries were good though. DH got the seafood pasta dish and said it was good. For dessert I had the happiest celebration cheesecake that came with m&m's and caramel corn - talk about sugar shock!! Nephew got the hot fudge sundae and it was huge. I have no idea what DH got because he inhaled it (even though he said he was full). I don't know what the other car ordered but they said everything was good. The service was great, the food so-so. Definitely go for atmosphere (it really is a fun place). We would probably return.
Casey's
We had never been here (not sure why since we go to WDW every year). The hot dogs were as yummy as everyone says. We sat on the bleachers and watched "the game" while we ate. Definitely will return.
Captain Jacks
Me, sister, DH, three kids
We used up our last TS's here. We had never been here before. For a seafood restaurant, I wasn't impressed. I had the crabcakes for app and they were ok. Kind of dry and very thin. The crab didn't taste very fresh. I had the ceasear salad with shrimp which was average. Again, the shrimp just didn't seem very fresh. The dessert was ok - chocolate lava cake with ice cream. It was kind of dry. This place is not a keeper for us. Very overpriced average seafood. Service was so so. It wasn't very busy but our waitress took forever to wait on us and refills were only if we requested (aka yelled as she walked by us). Glad we tried it but won't return.
Cosmic Rays - one of our favs. We had the chicken and ribs combo and everything was great. It amazes me how this place can be so crowded, but the lines move fast. When my sister ordered, they gave her four desserts instead of two and she tried to return them and they told her to keep them. And who are we to turn down extra chocolate??
Backlot Express at MGM
Nothing spectacular but they did let our kids get the frozen cokes on the DP, even though it didn't have the symbol by it. They also upgraded our drinks to large (aka HUGE). Very good service, nice people and ok food. We usually eat here when at MGM.
This was our second time using the DP. We will be returning in the fall (just me, DH and dd for a nice quiet vacation - 11 people can be a handful!!) and are so happy that the free DP has returned.
