Dining Reviews 12/15 – 12/21

Rainforest Café (DTD) – Dinner – I know that many people don’t enjoy the RFC, but it’s one of our favorites. I enjoy the atmosphere, though admittedly it’s not a place for a calm, quiet meal. Our food was very tasty, as usual. I had the Bamba’s BBQ wrap with chicken and DH had the Flying Dragon Pepperoni Pizza. Both were quite good. The service was friendly, and just a little bit slow. We will happily return here. Plus, I’m happy to report that at the DTD location, Safari Club members get seated at the next available table—this saved us some serious wait time. Food: A Service: B-

Boma – Breakfast – I’m not typically a big fan of buffets, but breakfast at Boma was outstanding! There is so much food, it makes me wish I had 2 stomachs! :teeth: We loved the variety and the mix of unique dishes and old favorites. Our only complaint was the service was very slow. We look forward to another breakfast at Boma. Food: A+ Service: C

Tusker House – Lunch – This was our first trip to Tusker House, after having heard so many good things about it on this board. I had the turkey wrap with corn chowder. The turkey wrap had hummus on it, which I’m not a big fan of, so I didn’t just love the wrap. However, the corn chowder was delicious! Plus, it’s hearty enough that I didn’t even miss the wrap. DH had the fried chicken sandwich, which he enjoyed but didn’t just love. We ate a late lunch, and the restaurant was pretty calm, especially for a counter service eatery. We enjoyed our meal, but it’s not a favorite place of ours. We will eat here again when it’s convenient, but won’t rush back. I will say that this is probably one of the best counter service restaurants we’ve tried. Food: B- Service: N/A

Artist Point – Dinner – Artist Point is our favorite place to go for a nice, upscale meal where we can relax and enjoy each other’s company. We have always received wonderful service, and this time was no exception. Our server, Paul, was friendly and efficient. He made great recommendations as well. I had the Hatfield pork chop with Tillamook cheddar mac & cheese. It was superb! The marinade for the pork is delicious, and the mac & cheese has a little extra bite to it since they use a nice cheese in it. It was tender and very filling. DH had the cedar plank roasted salmon. He typically isn’t a huge salmon fan since he doesn’t like fish that tastes very “fishy,” but he thoroughly enjoyed this salmon declaring it the best he had ever had. He said it didn’t have that “fishy” taste he doesn’t care for. They bring it to the table right on the cedar plank, and it filled the room with a wonderful cedar aroma. He also really liked the béarnaise sauce it is served with. For dessert, we had the Artist Point berry cobbler. It was absolutely outstanding, as usual. This is my favorite dessert anywhere, and I wasn’t disappointed. As an FYI, they have reduced the size of the cobbler from our last visit. I believe it used to be around $12 and would easily serve 2 people. It is now $8 and serves one. Since DH and I like it so much, there is no way we were sharing! LOL! This restaurant has become our favorite, and we can hardly wait to return! Food: A+++ Service: A+++

Le Cellier – Lunch – this is another of our favorite WDW restaurants, and we enjoyed our meal here again. DH and I shared the delicious cheddar cheese soup with pretzel breadsticks. The soup is so good that it’s hard not to spoil your lunch with it! I had my favorite entrée, the grilled steak burger with cheddar cheese. This burger is really outstanding, it hardly seems fair to call it a burger! The meat is so flavorful, and the dense bun it is served on is delicious. DH had the petit filet with cream cheese mashed potatoes. He loved his meal, and even raved about the cream cheese mashed potatoes (he is not normally a mashed potatoes fan). Our server was friendly and attentive, keeping our drinks filled at all times and making recommendations. This has become a staple for every trip. Food: A+ Service: A

Olivia’s Café – Dinner – we were tired from our day at Epcot, so we ended up just coming back to Old Key West for the evening. We had a later dinner at Olivia’s, and we weren’t very hungry. We both had Caesar salads with grilled chicken. It’s not much to judge the food by a salad (it doesn’t give a restaurant much chance to shine), but we weren’t overly impressed. Our salads were just normal Caesar salads and the grilled chicken was a bit tough. The restaurant was nowhere near full, yet the service was slow. We would only eat here again if it was very convenient and we were too tired to go elsewhere. Food: C Service: C

Concourse Steakhouse – Breakfast – This restaurant used to be a favorite of ours, but our last couple of experiences there haven’t been as good as they used to be. This time our service was unbelievably slow, even though the restaurant wasn’t crowded at all. It literally took us 20 minutes before someone took our drink order, and they weren’t even friendly. Also, about 3 different servers waited on us at different points in the meal, so I’m not sure what was going on. Once we finally got our food, it was good, but nothing special. My omelette was pretty standard, and DH thought the Challah French toast was just OK. Our drinks were never refilled during our meal. We hate to say it, but we probably won’t be back here any time soon. Food: C+ Service: F

Rainforest Café (DTD) – Dinner – at this point in the trip, my husband had to go back home (he couldn’t get more time off work) and my mom drove down from Georgia to join me. So I ended up at Rainforest Café for a second time. This was fine by me though, since I have always enjoyed my meals here. Mom and I both had the Bamba’s BBQ wrap with chicken and we both liked it very much. We sat at the bar, which made the service quick and made us not have to wait for a table. Despite my Safari Club membership, it looked like the line to even get seated (after your name was called) was probably at least 20 minutes. Food: A Service: A

Liberty Tree Tavern – Lunch – we feel that this restaurant has such a relaxing atmosphere at lunch. It’s a great way to get a good meal and give your feet a rest. I had my favorite entrée—the Colony salad. It was delicious as usual. The dressing is delicious, and the apples add a nice tart flavor. It’s a very filling salad as well. My mom had the soup of the day, which I believe was a chicken tortilla soup. She enjoyed hers as well, though she kept eyeing my salad, and I think she wished she had ordered one as well. Our server was friendly and kept our drinks full. That’s always important when you’ve been in the MK all day! We will happily return here. Food: A Service: A

Earl of Sandwich – Dinner – We decided to go back to Downtown Disney for a little more shopping, so we chose to have dinner here. We think it’s the best counter service food on property. I only wish they had more tables, as it’s always busy. I had the All American, which was wonderful. I love the way the cranberries and ranch add a unique flavor to the sandwich. My mom had the Earl’s Club, which she loved as well. I always want to try one of their ice cream sandwiches (they look really tasty), but I never have the room after the yummy sandwich. Oh well, there’s always next time! Food: A+ Service: N/A

Le Cellier – Lunch – this is another restaurant that I ate at twice. My mom loves Le Cellier and really wanted to eat here. I had the grilled steak burger again, and it was just as good as earlier in the week. ;) My mom tried the Mixed Field Green salad, which she didn’t care for. She said she just didn’t like the flavor. Our waitress was so sweet and offered to get her another entrée, but we just shared my burger (my mom is a light eater, so it was plenty). Luckily, that left us with room for dessert. I had the Raspberry Sorbet, which was very good and a nice end to the meal. My mom had the apple cobbler w/ cranberries, and she very much enjoyed it. Our server was very nice and prompt. Despite not caring for her salad, we would both eat here again quite happily. Food: A- Service: A

Restaurant Marrakesh – Dinner – we wanted to try a restaurant we had never been to before, and we had heard good things about this one. We started with the Chicken Bastilla appetizer, which was very good. I loved the combination of the meat with sweet spices and powdered sugar. We both had chicken kebobs with rice as our entrée. The marinade for the chicken was quite good, and the vegetables on the kebob were good as well. The meat was cooked perfectly as well—very tender. For dessert we shared the Crepes Atlas, which I loved. They are very light, and finish the meal very nicely. My mom didn’t care for them since they are drizzled with honey (she is not a big honey fan). During our meal some musicians played music, then accompanied the belly dancer. Both were very good, especially the belly dancer who was wonderful. The music was a little bit loud (we were seated near the musicians, so that might’ve been why). I really enjoyed this meal. It’s nice to eat something that you don’t get to eat on a regular basis. However, I’m a picky eater so it’s hard to find new things that I will like. This food did just that! I look forward to eating here again and seeing what my husband thinks of it as well. Food: A+ Service: B+

Kona Café – Lunch – this was our final meal before returning home, so we wanted to return to an old favorite. Our server was really nice and the service was really fast. I had my favorite entrée—the Pan-Asian Pasta (they have renamed it a more generic name—I think it was Asian Stir Fry). It’s the same entrée though, and it was a flavorful as ever. My mom had the same entrée, and she loved it as well. She loved the stir fried vegetables, and ate them all up. Since the Pan-Asian Pasta is pretty light, we saved room for dessert (always a must at Kona!). My mom had the chocolate lava cake (I can’t remember the proper name of it, but that’s essentially what it was). It was made with a dark chocolate, and my mom absolutely loved it! I had the Passion Fruit Orange Guava Mousse, which is really light and flavorful. It has a strawberry center, which adds the perfect sweetness. Our meal was excellent, and we eagerly await eating there again! Food: A+ Service: A+

Thanks for the reviews!

I had the same confusion when looking for the Pan Asian Pasta at the Kona Cafe. I was glad to find out it was the same once it came to the table. :)
