Our Dining Plans: What Do You Think?

Zsa Zsa,
I forget to ask in my pp, but how did you get the entertainment schedule for the hotel pools? I've emailed the concierge twice, & keep getting a standard response. Basically, the same info that can be found on their site. I haven't been able to get any info specific to our stay.

Tarheelmjfan:

I just called the hotel concierge. I was calling them during the weekday at about 9 or 10 a.m. They were very helpful. Hope that helps!

One more question, how far ahead did they have the info? Thanks again :)

Zsa Zsa,
My family could definitely travel with yours. :teeth: We don't know many people we could happily travel with. None of our family & close friends think vacation's all about when your next reservation is. :confused3 I don't know what their problem is. ;)

I'm glad to see you're eating at Emeril's. It often seems to get overlooked on here. We've never been for lunch, but their dinner is by far our fav. meal at UO. If you get back from SW on Fri. in time for dinner, you should consider Latin Quarter @ CW. It's our 2nd fav. UO rest., coming in just behind Emeril's. I wish we could work it into our plans, but I'm determined to see what we missed the 1st time we ate at TC. :p Please, let us know what you think about Bice. We thought about eating there, but I couldn't find many reviews. I wish you would be able to write a review, before we get there.

I'm going to throw out a suggestion. If you don't agree, no problem. :) Obviously, you guys don't mind spending money on food, so this may work for you. :teeth: I checked & you could get a reservation @ Emeril's for 8:30pm on Wed. If it were me, I would move The Kitchen or HRC to lunch on Sat., & have dinner at Emeril's. Dinner Tue. night could be The Kitchen, as it is now, or HRC if you prefer to have dinner there rather than lunch. Both of these restaurants are good, but neither are outstanding. We prefer to have our nicer meals at dinner. That gives us a chance to shower & dress for the evening. Plus, we eat more at dinner. I know everyone isn't that way. If your family likes having some of your nicer meals for lunch, your plan sounds perfect! :)

Tarheelmjfan:

If I get a chance, I will write a review about Bice. I did a lot of online searches, and found a sparse number of reviews, but those I found were mostly quite positive. The Bice reservationist asked me if I will be celbrating a special event, and I told them it's our 25 year anniversary, so they said they will do something special for us!!

I have wanted to try the Latin Quarter. If I get out early enough from SW, will definitely try! Do you always need a reservation? Wonder if I should make one just in case.

I do like your suggestion about Emeril's. Didn't think about it before. Was primarily thinking about the logistics because I know we will be at US on the Tuesday, so will be closest to The Kitchen and HRH at that time. However, on the Friday, not sure which park we'll be at (depends on what we want to do again). So would not necessarily be at Universal to go to the Kitchen for lunch. What would you do in terms of that logistics issue? Also, do you think eating two nights in a row at an "Emeril-owned" restaurant would be too gluttonous?

Planning is really 75% of the fun! I see that you are in agreement!

I guess not, since we'll be dining at TC on the 24th & Emeril's on the 25th. :teeth:

Have you guys been to UO before? The whole resort is laid out very well, making walking from one area to another fairly easy. From US, you can get to Emeril's as fast as you can get to The Kitchen. If you were in IOA & wanted to dine at The Kitchen, it would only be about 5 minutes farther than if you were walking from US.

You should be able to get in at LQ w/o a reservation. The wait shouldn't be all that long. We've walked up & been seated immediately.

Congrats on your 25th!!! :)

No. Haven't been to the UO before. Didn't realize that the distances were so close! That's great to know. Thanks for your help. I think we'll be changing dinner to Emeril's!

That's another thing that makes Universal so great! Everything's convenient to get to. US is on one end of CW & IOA is on the other. CW isn't as big as DTD. That should give you an idea of the proximity of things.

I see you're leaving tomorrow. Have a fun & safe trip!!! Be sure to tell us all about it, when you get back. :teeth:
