For our week at WDW I chose to go to DHS on Wednesday October 21 2009. This was the only day of the week where there wasnt any Fantasmic! or EMH. Boy did I make a correct choice. Let me tell you about our day.
Our travel party consisted of me and my DFi, her best friend & husband and their two children DD4 & DS2.
We got to the bus stop at the AKV around 9:50 am and we were at DHS at around 10:15 am. The first thing I did was make a beeline over to TSM to get fastpasses for the whole group while they headed over towards Playhouse Disney. After reading everything on the DIS boards I figured the TSM return time would be around 5 to 6 PM. The return time we got was for 1:20 to 2:20. The wait time was also only 40 minutes at 10:20. I headed back over to Playhouse Disney and stood at the back wall because there would have been no way I would have been able to get up off the floor after a half an hour.
After Playhouse Disney let out the children got their pictures taken with Handy Manny, June & Quincy and JoJo & Goliath. This is the thing that took us the longest all day. This still only took about a half an hour.
After the meet & greets we went and watched the Voyage of the Little Mermaid. Next stop was lunch. We got pizza and turkey legs over by Beauty and the Beast. At this time I could get fastpasses again and walked over to the Rock & Roller Coaster and it listed the wait was only 5 minutes. I still got 2 fastpasses just in case the park got crowded later and then I went over to ToT and to see what the wait time was and it was posted as 10 minutes. Here I got 3 fastpasses for later just in case.
I met back with my party at the lunch table and the girls and children went to Beauty and the Beast and me and the husband went on ToT. I dont know where they got the 10 minute wait from but there was no wait. It maybe took us 10 minutes from the time we go to the ToT until we got off but that was it. As all good DISers know after the short movie we went to the left in the boiler room. There was no line. There were a total of 6 people in the elevator we rode. I could not believe this. It was also a great ride because we got the false ending. I never got the false ending on the ToT before. Here he decided that he would not be taking his daughter on the ToT later, not because the ride it self but because of the scariness of everything leading up to the ride.
After the ToT we went strait to the Rock & Roller Coaster. This was also a walk on. We walked into the movie room without a wait and there were only around 30 people in the Aerosmith movie room and when we were let out into the garage there were only about 30 to 40 people waiting on being loaded.
After the Rock & Roller Coaster we waited about 5 minutes for the girls to get out of Beauty and the Beast. Next stop was Pixar Place. We were going to just go on TSM but as we arrived there a cast member standing across from TSM asked us to enter the building. This is where the Buzz & Woody meet and greet is. There was nobody in line so we went in. After pictures with Buzz & Woody it was onto TSM. It was about 1:45 pm at this point. The posted wait time was 40 minutes and you could still get fastpasses for a return time between 5:30 and 6:30 PM.
After TSM we went to the 2:00 PM showing of the American Idol Experience. We arrived right before the show started and we still were able to sit center stage about half way back. After American Idol me and the husband walked onto Star Tours while the women and kids went to get a spot for the Block Party Bash. After Star Tours we met up with them to watch the parade. We stood directly to the right of the Hall of Fame (the busts of the famous TV personalities between Sounds Dangerous & American Idol). We could have shown up right as the parade started because that is what most of the people around us did and everyone could still get a spot. For the parade we were right between the Monsters Inc & Toy Story Sections of the parade when it stopped. Toy Story was to our right & Monsters Inc. was to our left. We had a trampoline right in front of us. The great thing about this area is right before the parade starts moving again some of the floats shoot out foam balls and this area is in a direct line with the cannon from the Toy Story float. Me and the husband were able to catch and collect about 15 to 20 balls in this area. He kept 6 total for his kids and then we gave the rest away to children that didnt get any.
After the parade we headed over to Muppet Vision 3-D and the previous movie hadnt let out yet so the children got their pictures take with Lightning McQueen & Mater. After the pictures it was back over to Muppet Vision 3-D. The theater was only about ¼ filled so as you entered they asked people to only move two thirds across the aisles.
During Muppet Vision 3-D the two year old started to get tired, so after the movie let out the girls went to watch High School Musical 3 while the boys sat on my favorite bench at DHS. My favorite bench is the one across from the TV personality Hall of Fame. The two year old fell asleep in the stroller while the girls were at HSM3. After HSM3 DFis Friend and her husband took the fastpasses and went on ToT & Rock & Roller Coaster. They actually went on the Rock & Roller Coaster twice because it was a walk on. DFi and the 4 year old went to the shops and me and the two year old rested and relaxed.
At about 5:30 everybody was back and the two year old had woken up. We had dinner reservations at the 50s Prime Time Café at 6:15 but we decided to see if we could get in sooner. We were told not a problem and we were seated at 5:40 PM for dinner. Dinner was great as always. The family we were traveling with is picky eaters and our waitress Mom had fun with them. I thought DFis friend was going to throw up. Mom informed her that there was to be no dessert until she finished her green beans. DFis friend said that then there was no dessert for her. Mom then said just one little bite and DFis friend agreed but then had second thoughts as Mom flew the airplane into the hanger but she was a trooper and chewed up the beans and dessert was brought out for all.
After dinner we went to see the finale of American Idol at 7:00 PM. After American Idol we to a leisurely stroll out of the park and was back at our room sometime around 8:30 PM.
If there are any questions I will answer them the best I can.
