Our budget is our budget (on site?)

Honestly, this is me too. I don't understand why the norm is to leave the parks and go to the pool. Pools are literally everywhere, why pay $200 a ticket just to leave and go to a pool?? hahaha

Probably why I don't really see the value in paying $400 for a hotel room I'm just gonna sleep in.

As someone from AZ, I have always wondered this myself. When I hear folks discuss pools at hotels, I am always a little confused. My kids would be so disappointed to go to almost any hotel pool, especially when Disneyland is right there.

I have wondered if maybe folks from other climates where pools aren’t everywhere might enjoy it more.

Yes. We live in Iowa. We only swim end of May to end of August. There are not pools everywhere. Choosing the right hotel for us includes choosing the right pool!

Being a local, going from start to finish has always been the way we visited Disneyland. However, I learned on these boards that people actually vacation at the parks, and part of the vacation is enjoying pool time. We did this when we went to WDW in '99 and my kids were 11 and 10. Enjoying the pool was something fun that we didn't get to do at home, so it was part of the enjoyment during that vacation. One evening, my daughter chose to stay at the pool with her cousin and grandparents, while my son and I went to the MK to see the Electrical Parade. Win Win :)

A lot of people go to Disneyland for multiple days and during that time it's smart to have some down time just to recharge. It can be a very enjoyable part of the vacation, and I think it's important to include rest time, especially after dealing with crowds and a lot of walking on that pavement.

I think the cool thing is that each family can spend the days as they want, whether it be to go to the parks open to close, or to take breaks in between.

Part of the enjoyment of staying on property is being close enough that you can enjoy not being in the park. Go back to the pool, relax, have dinner then go back to the parks a bit.

I personally could never figure out paying 600 plus for A deluxe room, and only being in the resort 7 hours a day?

I’m not sure what you what your budget is for hotels, but there are ways to stay on property on a budget.

maybe not during the 50th celebration the value resort at times are less than 100 a night, but be Careful check the moderates too…. I was able to get Port Orleans for less than POP or AOA for a weekend trip recently.

if you budget is slightly higher you book a DVC studio in the 225 - 300 a night range…

if you are flexible you might find a confirmed reservation that someone can’t use. You will find those in the 10 dollar a point range.

I had a renter find out 6 days before a trip that his daughter was pregnant and could not travel.

i tried everything I could do and practically gave the two bedroom away.

any way, there are ways to enjoy Disney, on property with a modest budget.
