For our May trip it will be our wedding anniversary .... any suggestions. My wife loves BOMA and I was thinking of going there, but that doesn't sound that good in terms of romance ... but I also like the food. We will have 2 kids with us ... :confused3

Any suggestions?
Thanks

Using a TA? Your TA may be able to 'leverage' some pixie dust your way--our TA somehow got us a free room upgrade to club level at GF for our 20th anniversary. Only time we ever received a room upgrade! Make sure your hotel is aware of your special day.
As to dining, I would be tempted to go to the Flying Fish--which has a kind of casual atmosphere, and killer crabcakes. Alternately, the Yachtman's Steakhouse for a steak fix.

I've booked this myself, so little chance of getting upgraded, but I like the idea! Thanks for the suggestions! I will look into them!

I definitely want to do something special for her!

Thanks
Ted

If she likes Boma, how about dinner at Jiko? It's much more upscale than Boma with the same sort of quality food and it's quieter.

How old are the kids? Could you leave them for an evening? We did Victoria and Albert's at the Grand Floridian for my birthday last year and although it wasn't cheap (not even close) it is definitely something everyone should experience once (IMHO).

Jiko is a good idea ... we have peered in the windows there. The kids are 7 and 8. I was thinking of a Disney Babysitter.

not a clue for dining, as we did 1900pf for the kids for our anny dinner. however i did surprise dh with a speciality cake for it. hes in the army and hd no groomscake for our wedding so i got him a 6 inch camo cake with mr
and mrs potato head on it. pat at the gf was great to work with i recently got ds a cars cake at chef mickeys for his third bday. take a look at the cake threads on here, theres one with all pics, my camo one is there, as is another camo one from i believe boma(copied it from here).

Find the following easier to get into and nice.

If you enjoy Indian food (it is fairly mild) Sanaa at AKV is lovely. If you book a late lunch you can watch the animals, they feed them so they can be viewed from the restaurant. (Children would be fine there). Could go to main building after and have a drink in the lounge which is nice too.

Flying Fish on the boardwalk is also nice. If timed right you could watch the high Illuminations across the water from the bridge or in front of the YC. You could also rent a surrey bike which is fun. Children ok.

Artists Point at WL is nice too. Could go down to the beach after and watch the MK fireworks or over if you are lucky book a Carriage ride at FW. Children ok here too.

If you are on the DP last two are 2TS.

There's lots of great dining opportunities to experience if you're willing to hire a sitter. I can vouch for the Victoria and Albert's experience. Expensive, but worth it. (Be prepared to nibble several small courses over 2.5-3 hours. This seems long, but most sitters have 4-hour minimum, so you might as well use it.)

As for what to do with the kids, some restaurants are better than others.
* Whispering Canyons Cafe is good for the meat-and-potatoes crowd. The setting is nice, and the kids won't seem out of place.
* Cape May Cafe is a excellent buffet, but you should temper your expecations -- the seafood probably isn't as good as what you'll find back home in Halifax.
* Disney dinner-and-show restaurants are also worth considering for an anniversary celebrations with the kids. Ohana and Biergarten are nice (if you like those kinds of food), and I've heard rave reviews of the Hoop Dee Doo Review.

Make sure you get Happy Anniversary buttons. We had them last year and every where we went we got free things like desserts, cards and even Champagne.:flower3:
