I have closely followed the thread regarding folks being relocated from the AKL due to the construction. We had concierge deluxe room ressies for the second week in October so I did not expect to get "the call" so soon, but did get called yesterday with the news that our particular room category would no longer be available. We were offered 2 savannah view rooms (connecting, as we have minor children) with access to the concierge lounge, etc for the price of our one deluxe room. We were also offered the opportunity to move to another deluxe resort but we especially wanted to stay AKL (and have Sunset and Sunrise safari ressies already made) so the 2 rooms (and 2 bathrooms) will do us fine. Not sure how many people have ressies for AKL this fall but I wanted to let people know that mid October stays are still be impacted by the construction.

Is this actually due to construction still happening at that time or could it be the room category you had reserved doesn't exist any more?

DVC took over the whole 5th and 6th floors so the room category doesn't exist anymore - all deluxe rooms were on the 5th and 6th floors. What I thought was really horrible was that up until fairly recently, they were letting you book deluxe CL rooms during September and October even though they knew they would not exist.

Catnik - that is a really great set-up you are getting. Having 2 rooms and 2 bathrooms is way better than one room. And, based on my stay in June 2007, the furnishings are upgraded a bit too - we had nice flat screen TVs in new cabinets. If you are interested, ask for one room to be a bunk bed room - my DD loves the bunks and we were able to get one with no trouble (we had 2 connecting rooms too).

Lucky you! I actually had a CL Deluxe room reserved for Dec but changed it to a 1-bedroom suite. Upon further investigation, I found that the locations of the 1bedrooms wasn't the best. I tried changing it back to the deluxe ressies (just a day later) and it was gone! I was only able to grab a CL standard room. I would have loved to have the deal you got, congrats! :thumbsup2

Yup, all deluxe rooms have been out of service for some time. 2 connecting rooms is wonderful! Lot's of space plus 2 bathroom for your family.:thumbsup2

I wish I was given that choice. I thought maybe the guy at guest services was going to let us stay in an AKV room since that is where my room is going:sad2: . He offered us a two bedroom at SSR and we said we really wanted to stick with CL so he asked where would I be interested in? I told him I would be interested in the CR or GF. The CR wasn't available so he offered SL at the GF. Then I started thinking about how I enjoy SL but I was going to miss having a view and the nice lounge and all the stuff that I love so much at the AKL.

In the end we decided that SL would always be there (sure we would have been saving an extra $50 a night over our Deluxe AKL CL room), but we thought we'd never get a chance to stay in a two bedroom and save $1,140 while doing it. It's only for 4 days, so I don't know what I would have done if it would have been longer. I like trying out new resorts anyway and I'll get my CL fix during our LVC stay at the Polynesian.

Now I'm wondering if I should call back and request two SV rooms like you got? I wouldn't be saving money, but I would get another chance to stay at my favorite resort. It probably won't matter though because we're going the 2nd week in Sept. Although I think I'll go :crazy2: if I change our plans once again.

I'm glad to hear it worked out for you. Have a great stay:)

This is a completely different situation than the moving of guests because of construction.

This guest was moved because the room category they reserved was no longer an option. And they were obviously given a choice of a different room category at AKL.

The official line from Disney is that after 9/15 (or thereabouts) AKL guests should not be further impacted from the construction.

I had a Deluxe Club Level room booked just liked the OP but I was never given the option of getting two SV rooms instead. Maybe it's because our dates are before 9/15? I was just wondering if I should pursue trying to get the two rooms? I'd hate to get there and be told we had to move. Plus I don't know if rooms are tight the second week of Sept.? I'm ok with our reservations, but it would sure be nice if we could be at the Lodge:cloud9:

I wonder what happened to the other people who had Deluxe Club Level rooms booked during our time? I'm on the lookout to see what they got.
