Our adventure in room 2612, LONG

Yes we did the eastern route and we just enjoyed the western better... the 2 days at sea where very relaxing but we were ready to get off the ship and have some fun and having been to St. Thomas and St. Martins several times prior to our disney cruise we felt, been there done that sort of...

MAYBE U ALL COULD SWITCH TO THE 10TH CRUISE LOL
I WOULD switch to 17th cruise just have to talk Jen into it
she has her heart set on another western trip

maybe i will book one earlier in the year and switch to seven day eastern lol with the rest of u all..

We will see if the list of dissers get long enough

Was a reallly neat feeling to see those lanyards and t shirts
everywhere u went and know that u kind of knew these peole sort of or u could introduce yourself and know that these people where as nutty as u was always some one to talk to or say hi..
every where we went there we where lol..... alot of people stopped and asked us where they could get them we just told them it was a group thing sorry membership has its privledges
and then gave them this web site..

actually Mitch the finance officer on the ship (MAGIC) knew of the web site and had been here... after all there where over
120 disers onboard and about 40 of the tye dye t shirts

was just a great cruise for us ...

I'm sooooo sorry about the problem! I know it must have been frustrating. I can't imagine having to repack, move and unpack all over again! It took me til about Wednesday to figure out where I had put everything!

Just for future reference, I found that our room on Deck 7 didn't make me feel any more movement than the lower decks. I actually felt worse when we were down in the common areas lower in the ship, maybe because I felt more closed in. We were all the way forward, so there was a bit more movement than below. Maybe it's just my quirk. For me, it's not the movement that bothers me, it's the closed in feeling!

I do agree that the customer service did vary, depending on who talked to you. As with anything, it's got to be very personality dependent. I tend to be nice about a problem, whereas DH tends to get testy. He's always the one that gets what he want, with a few freebies thrown in (note the cancelled fishing trip in our report). But I usually don't want to make any trouble.

Anyway, glad you had fun despite everything! Maybe we'll cruise again too! DH just wasn't interested in committing while on board.

It sounds like the newness of DCL is wearing off. The ships are starting to show their age. Staff must be hard to get, or now that they have built up a solid reputation, they don't feel the need to go "above and beyond". It's horrible to pay that much money and be treated like that!!

Isn't the Magic going into dry dock next September, not this September?

SO SORRY YOU HAD TROUBLE!! Nothing is perfect, but you seem to have gotten more than your share on that cruise.

We have cruised the MAGIC twice and Royal Caribbean MAJESTY once. Give me DISNEY ANY TIME :D

On Royal Caribbean:
1. My identity card was printed upside down. The lady who checked us in said it would not matter. The man at the end of the gangway who took my picture to add to the coded strip said it had to be fixed and told me to go to the Purser's desk. The fellow there acted as if I had done it myself on purpose just to complicate his day.
2. Our room steward did not smile except the last day.
3. People smoked in front of no-smoking signs and no staff ever pointed out the signs or directed them to the smoking areas.
4. Our room was SMALL, no couch, one straight chair. It was hard to see the TV from the bed, the bed was uncomfortable, there was no tub, only a shower stall with a short curtain so water got on the floor every time the shower was used.
5. We saw unsupervised kids all over.
6. When I asked for no potato or rice with my meal I was told that it was already on the plate, but I did not have to eat it. Meals were set, not adjusted to personal needs.

On DISNEY MAGIC
1. Any smoker in the non-smoking area is asked politely by cast members to move.
2. CMs were so friendly: even the girl picking up litter and polishing the railings said hello with a smile and asked if we were having a nice day.
3. Rooms were more comfortable and larger.
4. Children were with parents or counselors from the children's programs.
5. We noticed a problem with the sink coming loose from the counter and the repairmen were there in less than 30 minutes. Since the job would require strong smelling epoxy they asked if we were going ashore so they could fix it then.
6. I asked for no potato the first night and the rest of the cruise the waiter asked if I preferred no potato again. My dietary preferences were respected and remembered.

Yes the closet door on the MAGIC slid with the movement of the ship, but I stuck a sneaker in the way and it was fine.

I am glad you decided to give DCL another chance. I hope you are happy with that decision.

Sorry to hear about your problems. It brings back memories of our trip in Aug 2000. My M-I-L had room 2609 (inside cat. 10) and we had the adjoining room 2607. Her room had a sound problem that it took from the Sunday to the Tuesday for someone to finally come to the room and check out the problem. It really is frustrating that it took so long. M-I-L lost 3 nights sleep until they finally changed her room to a cat. 6. The problem with that is that we were seperated and we didn't have the convenience of leaving the kids in the cabin with their Oma beside them with the doors open to both cabins. I really can relate to your problem and felt very upset with Disney that it took so long to get the problem resolved.

However, last year we were on the Magic when we heard of the terrorist acts, and I can't say enough on how well Disney reacted and treated their customers. They were TOP NOTCH! So, it really just depends on who is handling the situation.

Don't give up on Disney from that one mishap, Believe in the Magic!
