I'm going to attempt to share our journey in making shirts for our Disney trip. I am going to be taking my three kids to Disney in Sept of 2013 while hubby stays home. We decided we wanted to make shirts for each day of our stay. To make things easy, each person has a color. They will wear this color every day with whatever design we have created. I have found that this really helps me to find my kids in a crowd. We chose the following:

Light pink for me, aqua for 12 year old E (girl), green for 10 year old A (boy) and hot pink for K 8 year old (girl)

We decided to do our first shirt as the Mickey tie dye. We followed the instructions found here:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1210609&highlight=tie+dye.

And yes, we did tie dye on our colored shirts. I got all of our shorts at www.cheaptees.com. We got light weight cotton shirts. Here is how they turned out:

The colors game out the best on this one :

This is on the hot pink.

We decided to not outline them in bleach and we are pretty happy with how the turned out.

For our second set of shirts we decided to go the bleach pen route. Instructions for this can be found. Here:

The only change we made was that we used a vinegar/water mixture that we sprayed right onto the shirts after we felt the bleach had set enough. Then we rinsed the shirt in cold water, replayed with the vinegar and rinsed again. It worked beautifully. We used a Mickey outline for the head and then did some free hand designs. The light pink shirt is the only one that didn't turn out as well and that is just because the color was so light. Here that are:

The light pink. Outlined in silver glitter to make it stand out.

Next up, we did button shirts. The kids loved this one. We used fabric glue and they are on there tight.

For our 4th shirt we went the route of the freezer stencils. You can find a quick tutorial here:

We found images that we liked, then cut out our stencils and ironed them on. These are two of the images:

Then we painted them black. I should say all but my oldest who decided to just outline hers and then do color.

Each child did their own thing and the results are as follows:

Aqua - she just outlined in black then painted abstract inside

Hot pink - lots of color

Next up our Halloween disney shirts!

I just realized I never finished this post. Since I'm getting ready to do our shirts for this year, I thought I'd finish this first. We did MNSSHP last year, and wanted to wear some fun Halloween shirts. I saw this and thought we would do a version of these:

I got fabric from the store that had ghosts, spiders, bats and pumpkins. I cut out the shapes and then used some fabric bonding material to bond the fabric to the t-shirt. This is how they turned out:

Pumpkin

Bat

Ghost

Spider

We outlined them with glow-in-the-dark fabric paint, but it was too bright with all of the lighting to really see them glow. We also made matching trick-or-treat bags with the same images. The kids loved these shirts.

This is an example of what the image looked like outlined in the fabric paint. For some reason, I don't have pictures of all of them

Next up are our sparkle shirts. I probably wouldn't do these again. We glued each and every rhinestone (for the girls) and stud (for the boy) individually. These took a very long time. However, we didn't really have too many fall off while we were at Disney.

These are studs and not rhinestones.

Ariel

Princess Minnie

Tink

And last but not least, we just painted these designs. These were very simple, we just used the Mickey Head Template and colored them in. Then we added bows for Minnie and buttons for Mickey

Minnie 1

Minnie 2

Minnie 3

Mickey
