Our (Abbreviated) Christmas Vacation: 12/21 - Chap. 4 - First Park/Rides of the Day

Hey Ann,

Just joining in...sorry we missed you on the trip. Sorry also to hear about Erik's Grandfather....that's never a fun thing to deal with, especially when away from home. Our prayers are with him and his family.

Glad to hear a good reveiw of La Nouba. DD6 is showing interest in seeing this. I am thinking of it as a "one time only" thing, but the + reviews I've been seeing have my interest peaked.

We went to DHS late (6 PM) on 12/13 for the Obsorne Lights - it was completely insane there! The worst crowds of the entire trip! Enjoyed the lights, though.

As far as TSM goes, I have to admit, the first time i rode it, I agreed with you...what's all the hype? But this trip, we did it, and I was firing away like mad next to DW and we both had these HUGE smiles on our face. It is so purely "fun". I didn't even care about the score, and my arm was so sore by the end. I agree I wouldn't wait more than about 30 minutes, but I would also hate to miss it on a trip. (Though we still like Buzz...it seems to me poor Buzz is doomed by TSM.)

What a nice treat to receive a free upgrade! Too bad it wasn't a renovated room but nice treat. Bluezoo definitely is a must do on our next trip! The food looks so delicious!

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. It's never fun to receive that sort of news, and of course you'd rather spend his last moments at his side, but I think being at Disney was the next best option. You guys had something to try to keep your minds light, instead of sitting at home and dwelling on reality. My prayers go out to your family and I hope your husband is able to remember the good times spent with him, instead of his recent sickness, how he would want to be remembered, probably as a strong man who served his country.

That being said...

I love butterfingers! I don't know how I've been to disneyworld without hearing about this incredible sounding cupcake. And it's so awesome that you were able to be upgraded to a one bedroom! Pixie dust is fun in any form, but especially fun if it is good for the whole trip!

I love your room! We really want to rent points next trip and stay at either BWV or VWL.

I loved this ride; you got some great shots!

Sometime during the morning, we also had a chance to use our Toy Story FastPasses and do that for the first time ever. It was a really fun and cute ride, although I'm not 100% sure what all of the hype is about. Sure, it's fun and it is MUCH better than Buzz's Space Ranger Spin (more about that later), but given the choice I'd ride lots of other things over and over before I'd ride this.

Couldn't possibly agree more!!! Sorry to any TSMM lovers out there...

I first just want to say I am sorry for your loss. What a hard way to start out your trip.

HOW COOL, though, that you got an upgrade to the 1 bedroom - score!! That layout is EXACTLY what we had a Saratoga, so looking at your pictures just took me right back there!

Hi Anne- i am here. sorry to hear about Erik's grandfather, what an awful thing to happen while you are away. Same thing happened to my sis and I on a trip to WDW- our grandmother passed away. it really put a downer on the time we were still there (how could it not). So sorry and lots of hugs!!

love the pics. i am NOT a photographer, so love all these shots. They are the kind I would take it I had a good camera and knew what I was doing.

i have heard about the cupcakes at starring rolls and they are now on my must do list for next trip. i used to walk through the backstage area of starring roles everyday on my way to work at hollywood and vine. the cast member cafeteria is located right behind there. i never once ate there though. darn the luck!

i have stayed at the dolphin and wanted to try bluezoo and everytime we pass by, it is fairly empty too. like you said, so sad, i hear great things about it.

can't wait to hear more and glad mom was having a good time!

The competitive aspect was fun. I did a lot of trash talking to Erik about how I was going to kick his butt and unfortunately, I didn't.

I feel exactly the same about TSM. I mean, it was fun, I'll enjoy riding it again, I'm sure. But maybe my expectations were too high, or something?

Hi Ann!! I'm late to the party...sorry! I would like to first say that I am sorry to hear about the loss of your husband's grandfather. I hope that things have gotten better since your trip.

Now, I am glad to see that you are off and running here! Your pictures of the GMR are great!! I too wanted to try some sort of cupcake from Starring Rolls...but by the time we got there, they were sold out for the day!!
