Our 2nd Shot at the Dream Team -TONS OF PICS. 10/28 New PTR LINK

DAY 5 PART 2

So we left the Animal Kingdom and headed back to the Animal Kingdom Lodge! You gotta love the 5 minute bus ride from AK to AKL! I went to the front desk to see about changing our ADR from Yak and Yeti to Boma, we did not want to go back to the AK! Well the earliest ADR they had was for 9pm! We decided that was too late and kept the Yak and Yeti reservation! We then headed straight upstairs and grabbed some nice cold water out of the fridge! Sidenote here: we ordered 2 cases of water from Costco for $15.90 total and we are not members of Costco. I ordered the water 5 days before our arrival and it was waiting for us! I highly recommend this service! OK we drank some cold water washed up and we were all asleep within 10 minutes!

Well about 1 hour later I woke up! Freshened up and then woke everyone else up! We were all feeling better and were STARVING! We couldn't wait to eat. We got ourselves together and headed for the bus stop to go back to the AK! Once again there was a bus waiting! (Did I mention how awesome the bus service was here!) 5 minutes later we arrived and feeling in better spirits when we saw the ratio of guests coming out compared to those going in!

We stopped for some photopass pictures!

We then made our way back to Asia and the Yak & Yeti!

IMG_2772.jpg

We got our menus.......

IMG_2768.jpg

The boys got there drinks served to them in these cups which I thought was neat because you could keep them...

IMG_2775.jpg

I ordered the sweet and sour chicken.......

IMG_2783.jpg

Bryan ordered the ribs......

IMG_2784.jpg

Our meals were OUTSTANDING! We loved the food here! It was great atmosphere too with the theming and we were seated upstairs where you can overlook the park it was so peaceful! A great redeemer for the AK!

For dessert Bryan had the mango pie which he loved! Sorry it's half eaten I had to stop him before he inhaled the whole thing!

IMG_2786.jpg

I ordered this yummy brownie ice cream concoction!

IMG_2787.jpg

This was a terrific meal and we enjoyed it immensely!

After dinner we went back to Everest to use our earlier fastpasses that we had got! BIG PROBLEM! Instead of wearing his sneakers, Eric had his crocs on! He was too short to ride!!!!!!!!!!! This caused MAJOR problems! I very slyly handed Bryan 2 fastpasses and hustled Eric into the gift shop. The poor boy was in tears! I let him pick out a new pin for his lanyard! (bribery!) After Bryan and Matthew got off Everest we left and went back over to Dinosaur to use those fastpasses as well!

This time we were in the front row!

IMG_2791.jpg

After Dinosaur we decided to call it a night and we headed back to our lovely Lodge!

We snapped this on the way out!

IMG_2789.jpg

When we got back to the AKL Matthew had been begging to go to the storytelling they have by the firepit. Eric was afraid they were going to tell scary stories (they didn't) so he and I went up to shower and get ready for the next day while Bryan and Matthew went to the storytelling!

Here are a few pics. from that........

Matthew in the big rocking chairs!

IMG_2798.jpg

Sorry his head is cut off but this is the story teller Willie!

IMG_2802.jpg

IMG_2805.jpg

Bryan also took these beautiful shots...

IMG_2800.jpg

IMG_2799.jpg

They both loved the story and said it was VERY interesting!

After Bryan and Matt came upstairs and showered the boys played with their newly purchased legos........

IMG_2808.jpg

By 10pm we were all sound asleep! We had an early morning coming up with Pooh and Friends!!!

What a great idea to order water!

Glad everyone cooled off and got some rest!
I have only been to AK in Feb so its interesting to hear all the comments about it being hot. Something to consider for our Sept trip. I keep reading how hot Orlando is in Sept!!

Yak & Yeti looks really good. Mango pie sounds interesting.

The storytelling looks like fun!

Just read your trip report and I am enjoying it very much. I was pregnant on our trip, so AK was a hot, miserable park for me. I would love to go back when I could hopefully enjoy it. Can't wait to read more.

Another terrific update... good to keep in mind that shoe issue. I actually kept Hannah's bracelet from Kings Island this weekend...in case she does not measure that big next week, we can just slip it on. (I know that some people will go crazy...).

Your dinner looks wonderful... good thing it was worth the trip back.

Again loving the AKL pictures.

I agree COSTCO is a great deal for the water.

Yak and yet looks yummy :goodvibes . I might have to move stuff around to get a ressie there, Love the pics too, hungry for that brownie sundae. Sorry :sad2: about EE, I thought that would have happened with Thomas on BTMRR because he wore crocs to MK, but he did make the 40 inches. The day before on TT we made sure he wore brand new sneakers so the tread wasn't worn off :rolleyes1 . Well at least Eric got a pin in the gift shop since he couldn't ride. Love the Dinosaur picture. Sure my kids shoudn't ride?? Kaylee is 8 but when I show her pics she says no LOL. Thomas doesn't want to ride the scary mountain with the monster inside :lmao: but he wants to ride TOT. The storytelling at AKL sounds awesome. That Lapu Lapu sounds good about now ;) .

soooo you made it back to AK:rotfl: . Glad to hear it was worth it!!
I have reservations at Boma for 10:00 am on our AK day...now that you & others have mentioned how hot the park is i'm thinking it's probably not a good idea to be spending morning hours in a restaurant!?! I'm not sure what my chances of changing reservations now but I'm thinking I should try to get into Yak & Yeti.
Your pictures are wonderful, do you get your Disney tshirts at your local store or online?

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for posting the Yak and Yeti pictures. Now I am so glad we have a resie while we are there!

Another great update!!!

Your food at Yak and yeti looks great!!!

Poor eric.....bribery is always the way to go:thumbsup2

storytelling sounds like fun:goodvibes

Great pics!!!

can't wait to hear abotu pooh and friends breakfast:goodvibes

I understand about the shoes thing. Many years back my DS was just shy of the height requirement. Before we left I bought him a pair of Sketchers sneakers. They ones with the biggest heel I could find! It took him just over the top of the height chart!
I have been trying to figure out where/how to order the costco water! Any info you have would be appreciated! Thanks!

Hurray for Yak and Yeti pictures. These are the first I've seen of there, it looks lovely.

Dana

Hi Dana! If you go to the costco website, do a search for bottled water. Then add it to your cart and they will ask if you are a costco member. If not it was a 90 cent fee and then you type the address to have it delivered to. I did ours to myself c/o the AKL for arrival on 4/20. Good Luck!:goodvibes

What a fantastic update, with so many great pictures!! I also wasn't sure about yak and yeti. Seeing your pictures and hearing how much you liked it certainly changed my mind!
You seem to have great touring plans! Very organized, yet also with enough room to make changes!! That's great!
Looking forward to more!!
I'm glad the storytelling was fun, and the bus service does sound VERY good from animal kingdom!

Great update, I love your pics at the lodge! And Yak & Yeti sounds great too! Mango pie sounds like something I would want to try!

Allyson

Great update!!! What did the kids eat at Yak and Yeti, and did they like it? that is the only thing that concerns me about our ADR there. Great Storytelliing/AKL photo's as well. That stinks about him not being able to ride EE, I need to start measuring Lauren in her crocs vs. tennis shoes.

Thanks Lesley! Eric had a cheeseburger to eat (it's called a mini burger on the menu) Matthew had lo mein noodles with broccoli. I also saw chicken nuggets at a table next to us! I really didn't think there would be that much of a difference w/ the whole croc, sneaker thing but there was :sad2: Thanks for checking in!:thumbsup2

I've been lurking on your trip report for a while and wanted to tell you how much I've been enjoying reading about your vacation! I'm glad to hear a positive review of Yak & Yeti; we'll have to try it the next time we go.

Amy (a fellow New Jerseyan!)

Hello,

I found this today and I'm caught up. Great report so far. Hoping my kids will ride EE this time. DD will be close on the height. DS wasn't too sure about it last year. All 3 of us love ToT.

Hi Amy! I was gonna send out an SOS for you:rotfl2: Just kidding! Yes Bryan sure redeemed himself with that ice cream! Wish I knew about the address thing before I went! Hey, I should get a do over right, I should go back! :rotfl2:

:rotfl: No need for the SOS--just a lot of stuff going on away from my desk this time of year! Lots of meetings. Ick--I think I'm past the worst of it now, though. I'll still keep sneaking in here when I can to catch up. :thumbsup2
Isn't it amazing how a nap can just readjust your whole attitude? I'm a big fan of naps, you know.

Yak & Yeti looked wonderful! You have hit all these restaurants I've been wanting to try so I'm really happy to hear all about these. Note to self: No to Italy. Yes to Yak & Yeti. ;)

That's a bummer about Eric missing out on EE--all due to some silly shoe mixup. I'm glad he was able to be consoled with a pin. He looks so tickled with his Legos in that picture--it really made me smile!

Great installment, as usual, Diane!:thumbsup2
