I wake up very early on the last day. While the others sleep in, I decide to go out for a walk in the chilly, early morning mist through the resorts beautiful grounds. Our trip was just after the unusual snap of freezing weather Florida had in January 2010, and you could see some of the damage the cold weather had brought. It wasnt too bad, but you could tell some of the shrubs, grass and other flora had definitely been affected. It was about 6:30 am, and it was completely peaceful. I went to the main pool area, rolled my pants up and stuck my very sore feet in for a refreshing dip. Unfortunately the hot tub had been closed at the POR pool the entire duration of our trip and I was super bummed about that. If there were anytime in my life I needed a hot tub soak at the end of the day, this first visit to WDW was it! We did make the trip over to POFQ one night to use their facilities. POFQ is so beautiful. I didnt get to have a beignet at POFQ, and that was on my must do list - but it was a must do that didnt get done!
Our room was in the Alligator Bayou section of POR, and all week long DD loved to make the joke Hey! Theres an Alligator by you! So cute. Good stuff, and I bet were not the first or last family to make that joke! We still say this every now and again. A tribute to POR! Here are some of our resort pics the grounds, the view from our room, etc.
I had reserved a water view, however I guess the small pool area counted as a water view hehe.
After everyone woke up, we packed up and said our last goodbyes to our room. So sad! Im sure well be back at POR again of course, but what are the chances well get that exact room? I know, its a weird thought, but Im that way. I will miss that room. We took our luggage with us to breakfast at Boatwrights. Then after our last taste of Mickey waffles we walked the luggage over to check it in at the hotel. What an awesome perk of staying on site! The In-Laws were there with their rental car, which was nice as we could store our carry on bags in the car while we went to our last park. We decided to go back to Epcot, so we did not do Hollywood Studios at all on this trip. (Next trip for sure though!).
At Epcot we did Mission Space! In-Laws came with me for the milder version DD & DH went on the intense version. Everyone had fun, and though Im a bit claustrophobic the ride didnt bother me at all. The mini-blow-in-your-face-fans on the ride were very helpful in this regard.
We got a FP for Soarin, which we hadnt done yet, but after we did Test Track (awesome) I realized that since the In-Laws were driving us to the airport we should probably leave very early so we wouldnt be late. I figured if we left an hour before the ME left POR we should make it on time even with circle driving on non-toll roads. As we walked out of the park, Nana and I were both crying. Nana because she was leaving her grandbaby soon and me because I was leaving Disney World.
FIL decided it would be OK to take toll roads this time, thank goodness, as he didnt want us to be late for our flight. We even had time to stop for a quick bite to eat because we made really good time. We arrived at the airport and said tearful goodbyes to Nana we wouldnt be seeing her again until summer and then we headed into the airport. The walk through the airport was completely and utterly depressing. Five days (really only 3 full days) is NOT long enough to go to Disney World. Not even close to long enough. As we boarded the plane we said more tearful goodbyes, this time to the beautiful weather. Heading back to Chicago where the temps were in the low 30s, we had our winter coats ready to go. I couldnt believe I would have to put that coat on soon!
As soon as we got back to our house, we walked in to the lovely smell of cat urine permeating every room in the house. And we dont have a cat. We had a neighbor at that time with several outdoor male, un-neutered cats who loved to come spray our doors and crawl-space vents at least weekly. Thank goodness those people moved out in May but it made for a very unpleasant winter. If you have outdoor cats, please have them neutered. Your neighbors and the feral cat population will thank you.

Or better yet, have them neutered and keep them inside if at all possible its better for the cats and much better for your neighbors gardens and mulch beds. Stepping off of the soap-box now!
I hope you enjoyed reading this TR as much as I have enjoyed writing it! The End
