First and foremost: We had a blast!!!!
Only a few disappointments, such as:
1. Never, ever, EVER AGAIN will we be there during Jersey Week! I had been reading Jersey Week-related posts here for months before our vacation and had seen so many conflicting opinions about the crowd levels and didn't know what to expect. Normally we visit DW in October except for 2 years ago when we went in June. Well, these crowds seemed like June crowds to me. Just not what we're used to for a Fall visit. Of course, there was also Super Soap weekend and the Epcot Food and Wine Festival going on, too. In fact, this past Sunday at Epcot was wall to wall people. This was my fiance's first trip to DW and I kept telling him "it's not usually like this in the Fall, I swear!". Ah well, we took advantage of early entry hours, made the best of it, and still had a magical time!
2. Soarin'- it was not for me. I suffer from motion sickness. Yes, I did read the warning outside of the ride. But, I was hoping that my experience would be like that of many others here on the Dis and that the motion sickness wouldn't be a problem. It actually wasn't until mid-way through the ride. This was probably my biggest disappointment because I was soooooo excited about this one. I wanted to love it, I really did! The scenery really was gorgeous!
3. Raglan Road- Vegetarians Beware! This restaurant does not have much to offer you. I know that Irish cuisine is pretty much all about the meat and potatoes and the fish and chips. But, usually an upscale restaurant (regardless of it's type) will offer at least one vegetarian entree. RR had a goat cheese salad appetizer. It also had a couple of side dishes (potatoes and mixed veggies). Perhaps this is something they will improve upon in the future. I sincerely hope so because the atmosphere is wonderful and the Irish perfomers were amazing!
We did have ourselves some magical moments, too!
1. Our family was picked to open the park at MGM! That was way too cool! The CM asked us "how does it feel to know that the only ones in the park right now are just you and us CM's?" Ummmm...pretty good! My DS3 got to hold up the clapper while my DD9 got to drop the top down as everyone yelled "Lights...camera....Action!"
2. My DD got to wake up Tinkerbell! Maddy really had her heart set on doing this. My niece decided to take Maddy and make a beeline for Tinkerbell's Treasures as soon as the rope dropped. I couldn't keep up, so by the time I made it there the CM was already writing up a Magical Moments Certificate for her. I missed the whole thing! But, I got to see Maddy's happy face as she described to me how Tink flew around the store!
3. We found a paintbrush on Tom Sawyer's Island! This was something that we didn't know about until this trip and we were determined to find one! We actually ended up finding 4, but left the others alone. It was just the thrill of the challenge! We would find other families nearby and ask them if they knew about the paintbrushes. We got to go to the head of the line on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
4. On our very first day we went to the Lion King Show at the AK. Timon was right over by us and turned and saw my DS3 doing his little wave. (Imagine a Queen Elizabeth wave, it's so cute!) Timon ran over and gave Liam a huge hug....and knocked him off of his seat! Timon put both of his hands over his mouth in an "uh-oh! sorry!" kind of way, it was hysterical! Liam was just fine, we pulled him up and Timon gave him all kinds of high-fives! Such a great moment
We had such a wonderful vacation! Thanks to everyone here on the Dis for all of your advice and tips!
