Our “WONDER”ful -May 10 - DCL update June 9

What an excellent day! I love the shot of Cindy's castle! It's really lovely. My brother was down the same time as you and he did say the heat was really unbearable:sad2:

May 6 - Epcot

Ahhhh today we get to sleep in. Well not really but at least we didn’t get up at 7am. Instead I got up around 8 while Patrick and Cassie lounged around another 30 before I flew open the drapes and jumped on the bed to get their butts up.

With everyone ready we headed over to Olivia’s for breakfast then a quick walk to the Castle Pool. What a great way to spend a morning. Cassie loved the slide but we wouldn’t let her go down alone and unfortunately we only got 3 or 4 slides in before we were told we had to go one at a time so sorry sweetie next time you’ll go alone.

After spending almost 3 hours in the pool (boy time flies) we head back to the room, got changed and all fell asleep (I’m telling ya the heat was killing us) Patrick woke first and decided to through some more laundry in (the one be the castle pool was great – the one by the quiet pool near us, for some reason someone always opened the door on the driers and never let the clothes get dry – I say it’s kids but it drove Patrick nuts). My alarm telling me we were missing some event at Epcot was going off which jolted me out of a really good sleep. This was actually a good thing since we had late lunch/early dinner reservations at the Rose and Crown so off we went.

This place is excellent and will most definitely be a regular stop for us from now on. Our server Garath (sp sorry) from Irland was wonderful. Of course after her long nap Cassandra took the opportunity of waiting for our table to promptly fall asleep again. This was the only restaurant we asked to bring the stroller and although it was a tight fit we squeezed it in and sat down to a very nice meal.

Patrick ordered the 5x5 beer. 5 5oz glasses of different beers from light to dark. I don’t drink beer but he said they were all good but he loved 3 of them.

100_5456.jpg

I forget what this was called but it was good – not was good as the drink I had on the ship mind you but that’s in a few days so I don’t know that yet :)

100_5457.jpg

I love how the serve the bread.

100_5458.jpg

I started with a soup that if made like my aunt makes it I knew would be wonderful and it was – and more. In fact the Leek and Potato soup was even better then my aunts and after I told Garath this he brought me 2 recipe sheets, 1 for me and 1 for my aunt (he even wrote that on the back of the sheets lol). Patrick thoroughly enjoyed his salmon appy but since I don’t eat fish I didn’t try it. Next up, our entries. I ordered the lamb and Patrick the bangers and mash. I wasn’t thrilled with the sheppard’s pie that came with my lamb so I swapped it with Patrick’s mash and enjoyed the rest. Dessert – ahhhh dessert. Being born to Scottish parents Sticky Toffee Pudding is a MUST HAVE whenever I see it (and that’s not often) and it was delicious. Patrick’s mochasomething moose was a big hit – not sure if it was the moose or the booze in it LOL

Just as we were ready to leave Cassandra woke up so we ordered her some mac & cheese and took it outside for her to eat. While she did, I nipped into the tea shop to look around and snap a few pics.

We missed out on seeing the Candy Lady the last time we were in Epcot so we were happy to see her just setting up to start her “show” when we walked by Japan. Before I begin this part just a kindly word of advice, please please please, don’t be jerks when waiting for this woman – she works fast and hard at what she does and she doesn’t need people taking advantage of it. While she was setting up she informed everyone that since there were so many of us that she would do 1 ONE candy per family so what do at least 2 families with 2 or more kids do??? Yup – they split up. Mom with one kid and dad moving over a few feet with another kid – I just had to shake my head. And 1 last thing – when she says she’ll do a candy for every family it is not necessary to tell your kid to “wave your hand to get her attention” she’ll get to you just wait your flippen tern. Ok – little rant over.

So watching her make these candies is amazing and if you’ve never seen it you must go. Even if you don’t get something just watching her is wonderful. Cassie was 3rd or 4th inline and asked for a blue dolphin. It took all of 3 minutes to finish complete with water and colours painted on the candy.

100_5557.jpg

100_5563.jpg

Our week of great timing continued as we made our way past America and noticed we were just in time to see the show there. I’ve never seen it so it was nice to see. Cassandra made fast friends with a little girl while waiting to go in. this is always the case – give her 30 seconds and she’ll be any little girls “best friend”

Up next - Hollywood Studios

May 7, - Hollywood Studios

Very late start to the day – 2 sleeping beauties didn’t get up until almost 9am this morning and yes for Patrick who gets up at 4am and Cassandra who’s usually up by 7am that’s late.

Instead of going to any table service restaurants for breakfast we choose to eat at OKW’s counter service Goods to Go and surprisingly it was pretty good. We ordered cereal for Cassie and I had the egg and cheese sandwich – it fell apart because it’s not strong enough to hold that much egg but it was pretty good. Patrick had the scrambled eggs and pancakes which was also good.

We had a few last minute things to pick up before the cruise so after breakfast we went for a swim (only 90 minutes this time) then headed over to Publix. Patrick picked up his 18 pack (ya cause we needed that much – more later) and I wanted vodka and found it next door. We also picked up this really cool fabric frizzbe thingy we thought would be fun on CC (we forgot to bring it LOL). After dropping our stuff back off in our room we headed out to Hollywood Studio’s. Tonight was Fantasmic night and we were not going to miss it. I just want to add that it totally sucks they’ve cancelled all but 2 nights for this show per week.

Quick rundown. We did the Back Lot Tour – very interesting. I’d never been on it so it was fun for Cassandra and me. Patrick had been on it before but it had changed a little so some things were new. One Man’s Dream was next. We were just in time to catch the last showing of the story of Walt and his dream. VERY INTERESTING. Since we are all Disney fans here you all should make this part of your next trip if you haven’t seen it. We didn’t actually get to see then entire collection before the movie since it was the last showing but it’s on the top of my list to go to the next trip.

We finally got to go on Toy Story – love and hate this ride. My motion sickness hates how jerky the ride flips you around but I liked they game show and would totally ride it again. The line up wasn’t that bad but still too long to go a second time so we headed over to the Movie Ride (again) and rode it 2 more times before

Late lunch was at 50’s Prime Time. We just love this place. The food is good, not fussy by any mean and “mom” is there to tell you to keep your elbows off the table and finish your veggies before you get any dessert. If you’ve never been to this place you’re missing out on a good experience.

After lunch/dinner linner :) we didn’t want to do much since we planned on lining up for Fantasmic early to get a good seat so we just wandered around doing some people watching and enjoying the last day at HS.

Before long my alarm was going off to tell me it was time to head over to the Fantasmic area and get in the crowd. It wasn’t too bad even though it was very hot. The line at the gate didn’t last long as I heard a cast member on the radio saying that the crowd in front of Fantasmic was spreading out onto the road way blocking traffic. Within a few minutes the gates opened and we were ushered up about half way or so. We managed to find a spot that was cool and Cassie and I copped a squat on the ground. Just at the time was we both were getting fidgety we caught wind that the line was going to start moving so we stood up and yes my ESP was working just great that night as the line started moving a few minutes later. Patrick parked the stroller as Cassandra and I got front row seats. We’ve never had front row before, usually prefer being further back so I don’t’ have to keep twisting my head here there and everywhere but this was good. No one in front of us to block our view and Cassie had a little room in the front to goof around.

Fantasmic was Fantastic. I love this show and so did Cassie.

Next Up – Epcot

May 8 – Packing and Epcot.

Today is the last chance we have to do all our laundry since we have 2 table service meals and MK tomorrow. We decided to stay home in the morning and do the laundry and pack everything. Patrick woke up early and started on the laundry and when I woke up I headed straight for the van. 2 weeks and it looked like a bomb hit it LOL

Around 10 we went back to Goods to go for breakfast then finished up our packing leaving only our carryon out with the stuff we’d need for tomorrow and to bring onto the ship

There you go – “the ship”. That’s the first time in this tr I’ve mentioned “the ship”

I know you guys are looking forward to hearing all about the cruise but there’s only 1 more day after this to go – be patient.

Don't know why there isn't any sound with my and Cassandra's video but it still looks cool

Epcot is my favorite park!!! Looks like you guys covered it well! Beautiful pictures! I loved Cassie's hairdo. She looked like a Fairy Princess!
I can't wait for "the ship" :woohoo:

May 9 – Magic Kingdom and our last WDW day.

We start today off with breakfast at Ohana’s. What a fun experience. We have never done this character meal before but will most definitely be doing it again. The food was ok but the atmosphere was wonderful.

We had an early time – 7.30 – have I mentioned that I man NOT a morning person lol. This is the reason we packed everything yesterday. We knew there was no time today.

So – 7.30 reservations and when we arrive they haven’t opened up yet so our time must have been the first time for this restaurant. We had our picture taken (Cassie didn’t want her done and was practically behind Patrick’s back for it), oh a side note on pictures. When you get your pictures taken for character meal they almost always take more than 1 picture. DON”T BUY MORE THEN ONE. If you have the photopass. When you upload the photo number every and all pictures taken will upload. We found this out by accident when we returned as we only chose one picture from each breakfast we did – at $30 each there’s no way we were doubling it. But when we uploaded the number to photopass what a great surprise when they all showed up. Ok back to breakfast.

The food was ok. It got cold because it came about the same time that Stitch and Lilo came out followed not long after by Pluto and finally Mickey. There’s no way any kid or anyone for that matter is going to be eating while the characters are out and coming over. Cassie was so interested in what Stitch was doing and who’s lap Pluto was laying in she couldn’t care less about breaky by the time they had gone breakfast was cold. I’m not sure if I’ve said it before but this tended to be what happens with character meals – they always seem to come out at the same time as the food and the food always gets cold. Still much better to kill 2 birds with one stone and have breakfast and see characters then wait in line in 95 degree blazing sun. so we don’t expect 5 star meals at these things.

During breakfast and after the characters left our table Mickey started a conga line – it was fun. The kids got some maracas and paraded around the restaurant.

100_5851.jpg

100_5865.jpg

After breakfast we headed over to MK where we met up with Pinocchio. I was hoping to meet Jiminy Cricket since he’s my fathers’ favourite character but no such luck. These will have to do :)

100_5885.jpg

100_5890.jpg

We headed straight back to the back of the castle. Ok well we didn’t get to go through the castle since it was blocked up until 2pm but we had a nice walk around the right side. When we emerged on the other side Patrick quickly spotted someone in blue. No not Cinderella but someone very special to her.

Cassandra got a little scolding for running up to her and promised she wouldn’t run to any other “friends” in the park in case she fell and hurt herself or ran into someone else.

100_5921.jpg

It was cute though. Nobody else spotted them and they had a lovely little conversation for a few minutes. Chalk another one up to the Disney Magic.

Cassie had been asking for a few days to go on the Merry-go-round. Well today was the day. She was so excited and picked a lovely white horse to sit upon.

100_5934.jpg

100_5936.jpg

The only other thing that we did today that was different than the other MK days was Dumbo. I hate this ride. Have I mentioned that I have motion sickness. Not a good ride to go on if you suffer from this. But here we go. We all squished our bums into poor Dumbo’s seat and up we went. I hate this ride. Round and round we went. I hate this ride. Eventually I closed my eyes – not the best thing to do but short of jumping off it was all I could do. I HATE THAT RIDE.

Cassie LOVED that ride - figures

Today was a short MK day since we had dinner reservations at the Spirit of Aloha Luau.

Up Next – the day you’ve all been waiting for - CRUISE DAY

May 10 – CRUISE DAY – Part 1

Ok people – don’t all crowd around the same screen – ITS CRUISE DAY

(Since we can only post 25 pictures or video’s per post I have to break this into part’s
)

So before we leave OKW Cassie finds the connecting door to the 1 bedroom and decides to step in and play hide and seek. Who are we to say no to viewing the 1 bedroom. Not sure if it’s a good thing we saw it or not – maybe good for Disney since now I don’t think we can stay in a studio any more LOL

Here are some pictures I took.

Not bad for a 3 year old ;)

100_6128.jpg

100_6131.jpg

After heading out we missed our exit and ended up going via 528 and decided since we were getting back on track we might as well stop for breakfast now rather then closer to the ship (and closer to lunch time). We ended up in what was called the biggest mickey d’s in Florida. I’ve never seen a mickey d’s like it. It wasn’t just burgers and fries – it was a huge corm
et menu I should have taken pictures of it but didn’t - anyone know the one I’m talking about?? Apparently there are 5 owned by the same guy.

With breakfast finished we headed out. After about an hour or so of driving we came out of the “are we there yet” section when I spotted water. Ohhhhh I got excited. I see water I see water. Here comes the hill, up we go and ohhhhh look look I see it do you see it???

I was such a child LOL – I got all giddy and silly and dh thought I was nuts and as we turned in I told him to get the camera out and start filming.

Video of ship

100_6148.jpg

100_6149.jpg

You’re not allowed to film or take pictures in the security area which is a great thing since it was a disaster. Well for us but a good laugh for the security people. In case you forgot – we over pack. And boarding was no exception. Cassie had her carryon, Patrick had his and I had everything else LOL. We checked our bags, I parked the car and we packed the stroller. I should have taken a picture of it because now looking back it was so funny to see a stroller full of bags, fan, huge purse, towels, roller cooler full of beer and vodka (which was never opened LOL) it was all too much.

So all this had to come out of the stroller and be placed on the x-ray belt and then back in the stroller. Well all I can say is that I’ll bet that video will get a lot of air play at the security guards Christmas party LOL.

So I wanted to take the escalator but do to our over loading a stroller we took the elevator. And while we missed the excitement build as we see more and more of the terminal it was just as exciting to have the doors open and BOOM we’re here.

Check was pretty fast. When we got up to the line entrance we were handed a boarding card 3. (I’ve posted before that I don’t understand how there could be only a dozen or so people ahead of us and we still receive boarding 3… moving on).

Boarding pass #3

100_6192.jpg

100_6196.jpg

We didn’t wait long at all, in fact Patrick and Cassie still hadn’t come through the line when I heard “Next”. Before I knew it we were done with the paperwork and having our photo’s taken for the kttw cards. No one in line there either.

We had heard people talk about checking in to the kids club on board and in port but since we were waiting we decided to do it now. It wasn’t open when we finished with all our checking in but we only had to wait 5 or so minutes and not much longer we were done.

Everything was so fast since we arrived early and then we had plenty of time to ourselves.

Cassie found the tv’s and started watching while I took a walk outside to grab some pictures of our home away from home.

100_6157.jpg

Beside the big fun boat – aren’t you excite for us ;)

100_6172.jpg

100_6175.jpg

When Cassie realized I wasn’t with her she asked Patrick bring her outside until she found out how hot it was lol. So back in we went but as I was moving through the door I spotted someone on the gangway.

Ohhhhhh Cassie – if you wait here a minute you’ll see someone special.

Who’s the leader of the band that’s made for you and me?

M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E

That’s right. We were standing by the gangway door when all of a sudden Mickey came bouncing through. No I am NOT one of those parents who think Mickey should have stopped and taken photo’s with us nor do I think we should hold him up because I knew he was going over to the ship model for his photo shoot but I was a little disappointed that he skipped right on through and right over Cassie and didn’t stop :( now I just laughed it over and made a joke that Cassie got run over by Mickey. It seemed like he was in such a rush that his handler didn’t even stop – just sorta gave a half attempt at an apology and rushed off to his side.

Cassie was ok and had forgotten all about the big rodent and his big feet stepping on her little toes by the time we got to the end of the line.

100_6190.jpg

100_6188.jpg

100_6187.jpg

It wasn’t too much longer before all of a sudden the terminal was full and an announcement came across. All those with boarding pass 2 please make your way to the ship. We were standing at the escalator side of the terminal near the tv’s and sofa’s so when I heard that announcement I turned to dh and said “according to dis it shouldn’t be too long so….. I never did get to finish my sentence because an announcement cut me off by saying “all those with boarding passes 2 or 3 please make your way to the ship”

Guess I didn’t need a boarding pass 2 after all :)

I introduced myself to a few DISers along the way and we headed to the big yellow ears. Smooth sailing as they say. We stepped up for our “official” first photo and headed across the gangway. Welcome aboard (boy I miss that)

Part 2

I LOVE the lobby of the Wonder (I’m sure the Magic is just as nice). It was decorated with pink, white, green and blue balloons and a very nice mother’s day table setting. We took a few photos and headed back to Parrot Cay for lunch.

100_6199.jpg

Over all I didn’t take as many food photos as I had thought I would but here’s the beginning of it.

Lunch was very nice but I didn’t eat that much. I don’t eat much when I get excited and I’m sure you guys know how exciting it is to be on the ship. After lunch we made our way over to the kids club to give Cassie her first look at where we hoped she would be spending a lot of time.

It turns out we had just as much fun as she did LOL -

Before we knew it the rooms were open so we made our way down to our cabin 2015. It wasn’t too bad at all except one thing which in all that time I forget to take a picture of however you can see it a little bit in this picture.

100_6520.jpg

The stroller doesn’t fit LOL. Of course we had to bring the BIG super condo stroller which wouldn’t fit through the door so we had to fold it up, bring it in, shut the door, turn it round and shove it in the closet. And as you can see…… it sticks out – at least we didn’t have any problems with banging closet doors HAHAHAHA.

At any rate, our room was small but for the amount of time we were going to be in it we didn’t care – for our 10th anniversary we are planning a balcony cabin on a 7 night but I think for 4 nights we’ll stick with cat 12’s

Our room – 2015

100_6224.jpg

Our luggage came about 15 minutes after we arrived at the cabin – far earlier then the 4.30 they told us at the port, so we started unpacking and managed to get 2 out of the 3 cases done before room service arrived with our petty little cheese tray and our mickey bars.

I don’t know if I was supposed to order something specific but what we got wasn’t anything at all what I’ve read in tr’s where people say – you MUST order the cheese tray if you love cheese.

What I asked for was “the cheese tray” what came was dinner for ratatouille and his brother but not the rest of his family. Plus we seem to be missing the room service menu which didn’t end up being an issue since we only ordered that and breakfast the next day then nothing more.

We finished unpacking and managed to join the ship tour at 2.30 but ended up bailing on it after Palo since it all seemed soooooo familiar to me and I told dh we’d figure it out by tonight so we went exploring on our own before heading back for the every fashionable fire drill.

Finally out of those hideous I mean life saving formal wear we headed up for our very first Sail Away Party – which apparently isn’t called that anymore but darn you dis board it’s what I know it as.

(take note of the kids club bracelet you’ll never see it again. Cassie didn’t think they were all that princessey and never every kept them on – she must have gone through 2 dozen while there – sorry kids club)
100_6283.jpg

Before long we were on our way – I didn’t take a lot of pictures because I had the camera on video most of the time and unfortunately they are all too big to upload but when I finish our final video I’ll post them on youtube and then here :)

Golden Mickey’s – what can I say about this show. We loved it. What a great way to start the cruise. It was very well done and held Cassandra attention throughout the entire show. I have an interesting story about the women how played Cruella Devil which I’ll get to after dinner

By now you all know I suffer from pretty bad motion sickness which is why I started taking ginger pills at breakfast. Well apparently that wasn’t long enough and by dinner time I wasn’t feeling very well. This was our first cruise however and I didn’t really want to miss out so I did my best and after the Golden Mickey’s we headed to Tritons. While sitting on the front steps I could feel myself starting to feel the effects of the motion so I took another pill and started talking to a daddy who’s daughter Cassandra had befriended.

It wasn’t until he left to go catch his little princess who thought taking off right about now would be a good thing that I realized (ok my blackberry alarm went off telling me we were in the wrong place) that we were having dinner at Animators Pallet tonight – doh!

Good thing it is on the same floor and off we went to the right restaurant.

100_6338.jpg

100_6339.jpg

100_6344.jpg

This is a fun restaurant that I didn’t have time to enjoy. By the time my soup had come I was really feeling sick. By the time I finished I was finished. Cassandra wouldn’t stop asking to go to the kids club and Patrick wouldn’t stop asking me to go get some shot or patch or whatever else he had heard about (points for trying to be helpful but I didn’t want to hear it) so after soup I jumped up and dragged Cassie off to the kids club and took my time walking back outside taking lots of breaths of fresh air – note to all sea sick people – FRESH AIR WORKS.

I was feeling bad that I up and left Patrick so I headed back to dinner. But that didn’t last long. When I returned my main course was waiting for me but I wasn’t hungry anymore and with regrets sent it back. Before long I was back up on deck and didn’t return until I was sure Patrick was finished dinner to find he had ordered dessert for me :) thanks honey.

Patrick’s dessert

100_6345.jpg

My dessert

100_6346.jpg

After Patrick finished dessert we headed out the deck for some fresh air. It became very apparent that fresh air is the BEST way to combat motion sickness (which is something I forgot the last night) and within 30 minutes I was back to normal so we decided to go for a walk and ended up in the adults section on deck 9.

Relaxing on the deck

100_6355.jpg

100_6358.jpg

When we saw that it was practically empty I thought it would be great to go for a swim so we went back and got changed. We arrived in our cabin and encountered our first animal.

Our first towel animal – a swan

We headed back up to the pool but Patrick bowed out from swimming since the water was a little cooler then he likes and there was a nice but very cool breeze blowing around but I went in. what a funny feeling it is to be in the pool feeling all nice and calm (I love the water) leaning at the edge and watching a wave of water coming towards you. It’s a good thing I was in the pool and not inside. After spending about half an hour bobbing around I started to get a bit chilled so I hopped out and into the hot tub.

It wasn’t long before I was joined by a nice lady who had left her dh and kids sleeping in their cabin. We had a nice chat and there were joined by a cm. She was one of the ones who wear the red blue and white shirts during the sail away party. Soon after that we were joined by the women who plays Cruella Davil during the Golden Mickey’s

What an interesting conversation we had including the reason we were staying in Nassau until 2am the next day. Turns out that when they (the cm’s) receive over a specific number of positive comment card they are entitled to a night out in Nassau. They are notified a few weeks in advance and can make plans to stay until about 2am. They were saying that on other cruises it might happen once every 5-8 months but on Disney they have stayed out late once a month since one of them came on board 6 months ago. It isn’t because Disney’s standards are lower infact it’s the opposite – they are higher than other ships. It’s because they all do their jobs above and beyond and receive far more complement cards then other ships.

Before too long I heard my pager going off with a message that the kids club was going to close in 15 so I had to rush up and pick Cassandra up who by the way was ruling the roost. There were about a dozen or so kids still there and guess who was the only one still awake bouncing all over the place – yup that’s right. Cassandra was running around, playing on the slide and HATED that I came to get her.

After about 10 minutes of chasing her around we finally got her cornered like a stray dog lol and off we went to our cabin where we all tucked into bed for a good night sleep.

cornered like a stray dog:lmao:
I love all of your pictures!!! It's great that Cassie had so much fun!
I am so sorry that your tummy was diagreable:sad2: I have that same issue and I had to leave the table more than once myself.:guilty:
I really wanted to eat all of that beautiful food too!
Can't wait to hear more!

Missing pictures from day 1

I just uploaded these today so I’ll post them before I continue with day 2.

May 11 – Nassau Day

Knock Knock Knock…. Room Service.
Dam I forgot we put out the breakfast card. Oh well guess we’ll have to get up now. Ring Ring – “quote Mickey” thanks Mickey.
Ok – time to get up. Last night we ordered a light breakfast to nibble on while we get dressed and Ring Ring “quote Mickey” Thanks Mickey – got it.

So we start enjoying our cold toast (I know it can’t be hot), cereal, coffee and Ring Ring – “quote Mickey” alright Mickey – we’re up we’re up so says Cassandra.

Today is a very exciting day – We’re not getting off the ship but we have brunch with all the other DISers at 11 so we have to get dressed and get Cassandra up to have a proper breakfast before we can head up to Palo’s . So that’s exactly what we start to do when RING RING RING – Dammit Mickey enough already. Just how many times does the mouse call to wake you up anyways??? We never found out because I didn’t put the phone back on the hook.

Before breakfast we have a very important meeting with 3 very VIP’s but while waiting in line I nipped up to the 4th floor to get some video of us arriving in Nassau

Cassie was once again thrilled with meeting the Princesses and this time she was all dressed in her best Princess dress

When we finishes with the Princesses and Prince we walked around to the side entrance of Triton’s to have a proper breakfast for Cassie. Don’t forget that we have brunch today at Palo so both Patrick and I just order a very yummy strawberry granola yogurt. Although we aren’t rushing, breakfast is at 10 we still need to get Cassandra checked into the kids club before heading up to Palo’s.

Everything runs smoothly as we check Little Miss into the club and casually stroll up to deck 10 where we have a very nice walk around the deck before entering Palo’s for our brunch.

There is a little wait as others are being seated but now it’s our turn. Everything looks very nice but what’s this???? Our name isn’t on the list??? But I got an email from Tracy saying that it was all confirmed. Wait, what??? It’s tomorrow?? At 11?????? Oh crap…….. Oops, sorry honey. With all our emails back and forth and us being away from home 3 weeks before the cruise it looks like I posted my calendar with the wrong date.

Good thing we didn’t make plans around brunch today. Well hungry and a little embarrassed we headed down to deck 9 to get some breakfast at the Beach Blanket Buffet. Actually it was pretty nice but after having Triton’s tomorrow I was wishing we had paid attention ok I had paid attention since it was a very very nice breakfast ….. but that’s tomorrow – so today we get some things at the buffet and head out to sit beside the rail, enjoy the view and our meal.

It was all very nice and we took our time (since we didn’t have anywhere else to go LOL). After breakfast/lunch we wondered around exploring all the decks before heading up to the kids club to see if Cassie wanted to go for a swim.

Well kicking and screaming we drag her away from the club. Ok not exactly but not far off either. Boy what do they do in there that makes the kids never want to leave? We finally convinced her that yes she could go down the Mickey slide and it would be fun. Off we went and had a blast. I didn’t take that many photos or video today – too busy having fun but here are a few from the pool

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKGtuZa9NjA

As you can see Cassie had a blast in the pool. I only wish they made that slide for adults too – hope the new ships have adult slides.

May 11 – Part 2

Tonight we are having dinner at Palo’s so we have to get Cassandra dinner before the show so we can take her right to the kids club right after the show then head up to deck 10.

The show tonight was Toy Story. I’d like to say I LOVED it but I didn’t. it was good – not great. I think I was expecting more though. It was basically the movie (from the toy’s point of view) on stage. They had a few new songs as seen in my video’s but nothing that I remember as being that “great song” The only one I can even slightly remember is the one the neighbour boy sings about blowing up stuff. The dr of destruction the master of malicious or something like that. (fyi the “boy” is actually played by a girl and it’s the one who is Cruella DeVille. At least it was on our cruise. Oh and they boy (another girl) who plays “Andy” is the main girl in Disney Dreams.

So, the show was good and after we took Cassie up to the kids club then took a stroll before heading up to Palo for our 8pm dinner reservation.

100_6445.jpg

What can I say about Palo – Everything you’ve heard about this place is true. 5 star restaurant floating in the middle of the ocean.

018.jpg

Ok so do I get points for taking the strangest location picture???

100_6449.jpg

Any guesses.

We were asked to wait a few minutes which turned into a few more but it was well worth the wait. The host told us that he was waiting for a table near the window to clear so he could seat us there instead of in the middle – very nice thank you.

I forgot our servers name but she was very nice. She told us that her and her dh were working on the ship and that they had planned on getting married but did it sooner so that they could share a room (Disney rules). They work different shifts so they aren’t seeing too much of each other which makes it nice when they are together.

Anyways we were told the specials and asked what we wanted to drink. When she brought our drinks back we were ready to order.

We were brought an antipasto plate and bread which was very tasty

100_6450.jpg

Patrick started with a shrimp and asparagus appetizer which I can’t find on the menu but he remembers it being very nice

100_6451.jpg

While I started with the Grilled Portobello Mushroom and Polenta with a Roasted Shallot Sauce. Now normally I don’t like polenta, but mmmmmm this was good

100_6452.jpg

We shared a Margherita Pizza. Another tasty appetizer but glad we shared it.

100_6453.jpg

When we were told the specials the shrimp pasta sounded good but I didn’t think I wanted an entire plate full so I ordered something and asked for a side plate of the shrimp pasta (fyi I was really glad I didn’t make a meal of the pasta because it didn’t really have much flavor and the pasta was too aldenti – our server asked why I didn’t say anything and I would have it if was the main course but being a small sample I didn’t see the need – it looks good though).

100_6456.jpg

Our main courses – Patrick ordered the Pan Fried Tuna ordered med/rare

100_6454.jpg

And I ordered the Garlic Roasted Rack of Lamb (another fyi – it’s a LOT of food. 3 bones would have been enough but I received 5)

100_6455.jpg

We were asked right at the beginning if we would be ordering the chocolate soufflé since it takes 20-30 minutes to prepare and of course being a DISer I said YES I’ve heard so much about it. BUT I we also wanted to try another chocolate dish so what to do – that’s right – order both. And Patrick did the same LOL so we got 4 desserts.

100_6460.jpg

Chocolate Amaretto Indulgence

100_6461.jpg

This – which we can’t remember what’s it’s called so if anyone knows please let me know and I’ll add it here.

100_6462.jpg

And of course Palo’s Homemade Tiramisu (oh and by the way I saw a post form someone a week or so ago who got very upset with people using the ‘s at the end of Palo. She said it was Italian for pole not a name and shouldn’t have the ‘ but Palo’s very own menu uses the ‘ so I don’t see a problem)

100_6463.jpg

Dinner lasted pretty close to 3 hours (good thing too or we would have been rolling out the door) and when we were finished we went for a walk on the pier. It was the only time we got off the ship because I wanted to see the ship at night with all the pretty lights.

No sooner were we at the end of the ship when I got a page. “Cassandra would like to be picked up from the kids club” aggrrr no she doesn’t – I’ll bet you another cruise honey that if we go back now she’ll be dancing around the floor again.

So I decided that I was going to take my pictures and video and then go get her.

100_6467.jpg

100_6473.jpg

On our way back to the ship we had thought it would be fun to bring Cassie out to see the ship at night and as predicted, she was the life of the party by the time we got there but had raised such a fuss we decided it was time for bed. Off we went back down to your cabin for a good night sleep.

We were sound asleep by the time the ship left port at 2am and didn’t feel a thing. Tomorrow we are at Castaway Cay and have our Palo Brunch with the DISers – for real this time. So we need our sleep.

I was trying to decide which of your pictures I liked the best...until I got to this last one! Wow is that a beautiful shot! Great update Karen! And what a lovely picture of the ship at night:thumbsup2

thank you - it's great reliving the days on the ship - makes me want to plan another cruise because there was so much we didn't do or i didn't tak pictures of

I felt the same way!!! I went on another and there are STILL things I want to do!! We are doing a 3 day bounce back in Nov and I am convinced that there can't possibly be enough time to accomplish anything then either so I am busily sweet talking DH into a 7 day on one of the new ships in 2010 ( and working LOTS of overtime) :rotfl:

May 12 – Castaway Day and Palo Brunch

Right, so today is the day we are having brunch with some other DISers at Palo. Got it now. Once again we have to get Cassandra breakfast and out to the kids club only this time it’s not on the ship it’s on the island but we aren’t going to rush.

We decided that after our first morning (yesterday) and 4 calls from Mickey telling us to wake up that we weren’t going to set any alarms and just let ourselves wake up. This actually worked pretty well as Cassandra is an early riser and would not let us sleep in past 8am.

100_6476.jpg

100_6482.jpg

100_6487.jpg

100_6507.jpg

100_6511.jpg

We got up and dressed then headed up to deck 9 for breakfast at Beach Blanket Buffet. This was pretty good since we weren’t rushed to get off we had an enjoyable breakfast sitting out looking at the island while a lot of others who had woken up earlier were already going about their activities on the island and getting into boats to take them ….. wherever their excursion would take them.

We saw a few boats being loaded up with passengers and their bags presumably (and hopefully loaded down with classes, hats and sunscreen) others at the post office, some waiting for the tram and others already taking up their coveted spot on the beaches.

After breakfast we headed out to the dock. It was nice not feeling rushed or crowded since most people had already gotten off it was just a nice leisurely walk off – no lines

By now it was starting to get warm (I don’t do well in the heat) and I just wanted to get Cassandra who was not beginning to ask the million dollar question “are we there yet” to the kids club so we could get back on the ship for our brunch. We just missed the tram so we had to wait. I’m not so sure we would have made it with Cassie but I wish at some point we had walked it so that I could have gotten some more great pics. I got some but we were moving and couldn’t really enjoy the moment if you know what I mean.

Anyways we got her all checked in and got another wrist band hand printed this time (did I mention that she hated those things and always took them off) and back on the tram to the ship. We were the only ones on board going back and it was fun to hear the audio they have playing.

100_6525.jpg

100_6528.jpg

100_6526.jpg

100_6515.jpg

We were early so we took another little stroll around the deck (which became a mistake since it wasted time) and when we got up to Palo Partick, although dressed in a casual business shirt and dressy shorts was told he’d have to change into pants. (kinda wish that 1 they told us that yesterday when they saw him in the same outfit and 2 I had paid attention to the dress code but I really did think the brunch was less formal then the dinner being brunch and all and that they would allow dressy shorts and business top but nope)

So while I was waiting for Patrick to return all dressed proper, I met some of my DISer mates. My brain just will not allow me to remember names so I apologize for that. As it turned out they became our table mates. Those who were there will remember that there were no double tables – they were all (I think at least) 6 or more settings.

I missed meeting Pete since he came around the table while I was still waiting for Patrick – sorry I missed you guys. When Patrick arrived we were escorted to our table and immediately headed over to the buffet for our “briefing” It was really fun and a good meal. Great conversation and some laughs at one of our “antisocial” table mates – and yes he called himself that I’m not being mean.

After brunch we headed down to the cabin, changed and headed back off the ship and head over to Scuttles Cove to pick Cassandra up and take her swimming.

100_6533.jpg

100_6536.jpg

100_6540.jpg

100_6542.jpg

100_6545.jpg

Did you guys know the ocean tastes HORRIBLE. Well I had forgotten that, and Cassandra just learned that as we both forgot to shut our mouths as someone was splashing and eeeewwweee ocean water in the mouth. YUCK!!!!!

Cassie wanted to leave then and there but I convinced her just to keep her mouth shut and we played for aver an hour. During all this fun in the sun (oh and yes I did remember to sunscreen us all and double on me) I took our water camera and took a bunch of pictures that we still have not taken to be developed yet.

After a little while (lost track of time) we headed back to the ship. Cassie was getting cranky (me to actually) and I thought it would be a good idea for her (and me) to take a nap before pirate night. Use your imagination and look who came to say good bye to us as I waited in line to see Captain Hook.

100_6548.jpg

100_6549.jpg

100_6552.jpg

100_6554.jpg

100_6555.jpg

When we got back on the ship the two of us fell asleep almost instantly and Patrick who wasn’t tired went to the pool.

Some internal clock woke me up and I realized I was going to miss saying good bye to the island if I didn’t get my butt in gear and get top side. I didn’t have the heart to wake Cassandra so for the first time since getting on the ship I dragged out the stroller, placed a “dead to the world” 3 year old inside and headed up.

When we arrived at the back of deck 10 we were all alone. For a moment I thought maybe I saw the clock wrong and it wasn’t 5pm. But no I was correct and mere minutes went by then the water started churning. The last of the little boats speed off with the final island crew leaving the island and then the ever popular sound was heard in the distance.

And for those who missed it the first time, the captain played it a second time. (oh how I miss that sound now that we’re home)

Cassandra still sleeping and Patrick no where to be found I stayed at the back gazing out as the island became smaller and smaller, knowing that it would be a few years before we would be able to return to her sandy beaches. Ok cry for me if you please.

100_6557.jpg

100_6559.jpg

100_6562.jpg

100_6566.jpg

Now with Castaway Cay a mere memory, I left the back and started walking towards Quiet Cove to take the elevator down and get ready for Pirate night, the movie and dinner. As I passed the adult pool I spotted someone. Someone laying out on one of the lounging chairs, someone who should have come wake me up to see the island off but instead decided to get WAY too much sun. someone who I swore I’d slap if he mentioned being in pain because he didn’t put sunscreen on and lay face down for the sun to smack his back. Yes you guessed it. Patrick.

I asked him why he didn’t come and wake me up and he said he didn’t want to disturb me – agrrr good thing I woke on my own. I’d have been p.o’d. at any rate, we all headed back down to deck 2 and by the time we reached the door Cassie had woken up and what do you think the first words out of her mouth was????? “Mummy, can I go to the kids club.” Dam that place LOL No honey, tonight is pirate night. Party time.

We get all dressed up in our pirate costumes and popped by customer service. “can you tell me where Captain Jack is going to be, please” her response. “he was on the island ma’ am. Hummm could have sworn that I’ve seen pictures from the ship where people were dressed up and met him. Off we went to wander around and guess who we ran into – yup you guessed it. Ok maybe you didn’t but we ran into Christian. He thought Cassandra’s outfit was “adorable” and asked if we had seen Jack yet. When we told him that the lady at guest services said he wasn’t on the ship he informed us that Jack was indeed on the ship and that he would be there for only another 10 minutes but if we missed him to come get Christian and he’ll make arrangements for us to meet him. Turned out that although we were the last in line we did make it and had our pictures taken with him. Jack also made fun of Patrick’s boots – ok they aren’t authentic pirate boots (actually they weren’t boots at all they were covers attached to the very baggy pants lol) but hey Jack, you can’t even see straight how would you know? LOL

After our little adventure with Jack we headed into see the movie which none of us actually liked so we left and ran into another pirate (a little boy) who wanted to play with Cassie so they had fun being pirates together. We let them play for a little while, entertaining both sets of parents and those who happened by.

Heading over to Parrot Cay we found we were very early and took the opportunity to take a whole bunch of pictures. Cassie did a good job taking some on her own.

100_6646.jpg

While dinner was good it ran late and we missed the start of pirate night but lets start with dinner first.

Being pirate night we had the special rolled up Pirate Scroll menu’s . So fun. We all ordered our meals and half way through they did a limbo line. I asked Cassie if she wanted to go and at first she said no but after Patrick took off (boys will be boys) she decided she wanted to join in. while she was too late to catch up to Patrick we cut through the tables and met him just before he was to go under the limbo.

It was all good fun and when we finished dessert we rushed up to deck 10 only to find out we’ve missed the start of the party.

Only a few minutes later Mickey appeared on the stack and swooped into rescue us for Captain Hook’s abuse. Or at least that’s what I think happened, as I couldn’t really see anything more then Mickey swinging from a rope.

Fireworks video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jpyWgMLKtKs

Now – I know some of you will flame me for saying this and I know they can’t do the same as they do on land but I was a little disappointed with the fireworks. While it was fun to see them off the side of the ship they were…. Well…. Kinda ….. boring.

There I said it. They were all the same type of firework and there wasn’t any “production” with them. They were just sent up one after the other until the final 5 or 6 which came in rapid succession. And then it was over. Within a couple of minutes after the fireworks finished nearly half the crowd vanished (personally I think Hook had something to do with it).

We weren’t far behind those who left since it had been a long day and even though we had a nap we were still all tired so off to be we went to get a good night sleep for tomorrow’s adventure.
