Hi, folks. Based upon advice from this board I've requested a woods view room overlooking the otter pond. I'm thinking this is going to be a great choice.

I found a pretty good map online. Can someone tell me just where on this map the otter pond would be found?

I'll try Mrs Pete: If you look at the WL layout as if it were an "U" , the otter pond is on the left side of the U about half way down. It's a great loation, we had this area our first visit to the WL on the 5th floor, fabulous woods view room.

Okay look at the number 9, go from that side of that inner side of the building to the outer side of that same area. Then a little to the right and thats about where the otter pond is. It's not illustrated on the map. I hope this isn't terribly confusing.

Number 9 represents ROARING FORKS, if you continue to walk toward the number 10 which is where the laundry is & across from there are elevators.

If you were to continue walking past the 10 into the woods that's where the otter pond is. We had a great view of it however never saw an otter and we were out on the balcony a lot. I would recommend the "higher" rooms except for the ones that have the dormer balconies.

The only thing I didn't like about this location was the noise that came from the elevators all times of the day. Kids came off screaming, running down the hall, adults came off yelling and laughing loudly. The ice and vending machines were to the right of the elevator so that also had some traffic. I have a 4 year old and don't allow her to scream & run down the hallways because I feel it is rude. Unfortunately many other parents didn't seem to share this consideration (nor did they share it themselves). I would especially try to keep it down past a room that had a "privacy please" sign on the door.

Although the room was convenient I would much rather prefer a room further down the hall.

jwfla is correct. Nice location, and I would also request 3rd floor or higher. Have a great trip!

My Dw and I had a 1st floor room right past RF and out of our patio was a little pond ....That is not the otter pond? Man I need to take WL vet off my user name  I am such a loser:jester:

We requested a view of the Otter Pond-we received 3rd floor rooms, not too far down from the elevator. I wouldn't say the view was beautiful-We thought the Pond was a little "swampy". It had a covering of "muck". We did however, see 5 otters in it at various times of the day. We also saw a turtle from time to time. At night, the noise of the insects (don't know what kind they were-don't think I want to know) was very loud and very "different". We could also see the castle in the distance. It was okay, but I don't think I would go out of my way to request it again.

I just got back from the WL. I was in room 3024 which had bunk beds and I could see the castle and mono rail through the trees. I do have to agree about the noise. People are just rude to let the kids run up and down the halls. It sounds like they are right in the room with you. I did like the location because it was so close to go and refill your mug.

Also a suggestion, if you decide to feed the birds that hand around the pond don't throw them a whole order of fries or a loaf of bread. Twice people through so much food and it just sat their and looked nasty.
