Ottawa

Hi there,

We live in Ottawa South and are taking a Disney cruise in January (8-15th). We are adding 3 days at the Port Orleans hotel afterwards. Haven't booked flights yet - I'm shocked at the prices this year. We went to WDW in January 2009 and paid $1200 for the four of us, including taxes. I haven't seen anything approaching that. I am desperately hoping that WestJet runs a seat sale soon otherwise, we will be flying out of Syracuse. Unfortunately, we can't use Air Transat or other charters because they only offer 7 or 14 days, and we need 11 days.

I applaud the brave souls who drive to Florida. My kids would lose their minds :)

I just booked our depart flight this morning. Cheapest I've seen it in a bit. 188 direct from YOW to MCO. Taking a chance cause it might go down, but I've been unimpressed with WestJet deals to MCO so far as well. Our return flight was 113 though. I found it cheaper to do 2 one ways instead of roundtrip in order to access the cheaper return fare. It was a tip from a friend that seemed to work well this year. Just a thought to check today if you havent already. :)

Not sure if you've thought about doing a bit of a drive. There have been some deals out of Platsburgh, NY just south of Montreal.

We are actually flying out of Buffalo this year. It may seem like a bit of drive but there are some serious savings there - there is also a new airline flying out of the niagra region .. Spirit.

It might be worth a look. It's only about a 5 hour drive or so.

If you check Delta in January from SYR you can get flights for $200- $215 incl taxes or $800.00 range for 4 tickets.

My wife and I vacation at Disney World at least once a year. We own a Disney Vacation Club timeshare. Disney is a great place for family vacations and for couples.

We actually flew out of Plattsburgh on Allegiant just 4 weeks ago and highly recommend it. I just checked and the prices for January are about $300 per person. A couple pros/cons though:
Cons:
- they don't fly every day so you need to be flexible with your dates
- they fly into Sanford instead of MCO (which could be a pro because of the minimal wait time at the smaller airport, or a con because there's no Disney transportation)
Pros:
- free parking at Plattsburgh airport
- it's actually only a 3 hour drive from Ottawa (not 5).

Hi. We're from the Greely area and are just back from 10 days at WDW. Great weather - warm and almost no rain at all --- for the whole vacation. We had a great time.

I think our next family Disney trip might be to Disneyland but I may have to do a solo trip to WDW again before that happens.

Leaving in 10 days. Hope the weather is better than it was today although heading south in a snow storm does have its advantages. We drive every year at spring break.

Hello from across the river:wave2: I have a trip plan in August 14 nights at Pop Century:woohoo:.

I leave in 9 days! So excited to have a break from the cold.

LOL. Yes, every March Break for at least the last 10 years. I see you leave Friday. The tree houses look fun. We fly out of Montreal. I only moved to Ottawa this summer so was surprised at the lack of direct flights out of Ottawa!

Have an awesome time and let's both bring back a ton of heat and sunshine.

Direct flights out of Ottawa, you must be joking! Montreal is your best option. We fly out of Syracuse or Rochester if we can. Otherwise, we drive.

I can picture it now. Sitting at Raglan Road with a green beer on St. Patrick's day. .....sigh....

Hey Sheribo and Mtmbyk,

We'll be there at the same time too! Our regular bi-annual WDW trek. Can hardly wait; I'm more excited than the kids this time, and we've got 2 extra kids this time too (along with SIL). Will be our first time for US/IOA as well.

Flying direct from Ottawa for the first time; a bit more expensive than our usual Montreal, but easier all around. I'll see if I think it's worth the extra $$ after the trip. Our flight times are great, early down, late return; gives us most of a whole extra day to play in the sun. I won't miss facing the two hour drive when we get back home!

Let's all hope for great weather this year!
