Hi! We will be taking a weekend trip to Ottawa in June and I am sort of lost about it.

Can anyone recommend a cheap but nice (you know what I mean!) hotel that is within walking distance of Parliament and also the train station? Is that possible?

Thank you

I did name your price on priceline for Ottawa and got the 4* Ottawa Marriott for $65. Prices on their website for the same dates were $229 and up. It is in a great location. You may want to explore that option.

The train station in Ottawa is not downtown. You'll have to take a cab to your hotel.
I would recommend the Courtyard Mariott which is in the Byward Market area. It's within walking distance of the Parliement & Museums.

I'm going to Ottawa in 2 weeks. I just looked up the hotel I booked on Tripadvisor and it got REALLY bad reviews.

Does anyone know anything about the Best Western Jacques Cartier in Gatineau?

skywalker, our family spend 5 nights at the Lord Elgin last summer and found the price to be reasonable. Location was walking distance to Parliament Hill, Byward Market, and a a lot of other major attractions. We only used our car once from this location to get to the Science and Technology Museum.

Perfect timing for this post. Also planning trip to Ottawa. Maybe Hetsell can help me on this. I just booked through priceline for first time, and got a good price for 4* in TO. How were you able to bid on 4* and they accepted your bid, and told you the hotel without actually taking it, or am I mistaken and you did book it? Can anyone shed some tips and experiences on using priceline.

Stayed at the Lord Elgin in February. Walking distance to the Parliament, Rideau, etc. Reasonable price. Good value.

I did book and pay for my Ottawa hotel. When you use name your price there is no way to find out which hotel it is until it is booked and paid for. I did some research the Marriott comes up for 4* about 90% of the time. There are only a few 4* listings for Ottawa on priceline.

It looks like all the downtown hotels charge for parking....in the $20 per day range.

That's right, I forgot about those charges. It does add up but you are allowed to bring your car in / out as many times as you like for the one charge.
