We had a great trip, 4 days/3 nights. I would not take kids. Stayed at the Flamingo, good moderate hotel. I would return there. Did Anthony Kools-Hypnotist, 250,000 game show, Price is right, Mama Mia & Menopause.

Enjoy the first three shows and would do again.
The last two have raving reviews but not for me but maybe I am not a musical show girl :)

Enjoy Your trip

We're going in May during the Victoria Day long weekend. This would be our second time in Vegas. We're going to stay at the MGM Signature in a Jr Suite. This place has great reviews on Tripadvisor. My SIL's sister stayed there and told me it was a fabulous place. I got this place for $143 (includes taxes, resort fee, and housekeeping fee) through a realtor in LV who manages about 90 suites in the MGM Signature 3 towers.

Like the previous poster, we had very good luck gambling at Bally's. Recommend watching Cirque du Soleil's "Mystere". Really good show. And don't forget to stroll through the Venetian hotel -- breathtaking!

We LOVE Vegas!!! We're going on our 8th trip this July for and adult only getaway for 3 nights. We're making it up to our girls by taking them to DisneyWorld in August. I always visit Trip Advisor travel forums for great information: goto TRIPADVISOR.COM and find the links to the LV forums

I also like to read trip reports on: LASVEGASTRIPREPORT.COM

(sorry, I can't post links yet as I don't have enough posts!)

I don't know what your budget is in terms of hotels, but if you are going Sun -Thurs, Bellagio has a great spring rate of $179 for their deluxe rooms. Use the code: SP1791. We always stay at Bellagio as it is even cheaper in the summer. They just refurbished all their rooms in the main tower, and it is in a great central location. They say the Cirque show at Bellagio, O, is the best. I would agree with this too. Have fun planning your trip to Vegas. End of March will be a good time to go, weather wise too.

I was in Vegas the first week of March last year for my first trip. Here is what we did that I really enjoyed:

1) We rented a car for one day (less than $30, plus gas) and drive out to Red Rock Canyon National Park (about 30 minutes). It was SO nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of the Strip, and the park was just gorgeous (being from the Maritimes, the lack of trees in the desert fascinated me!). We also popped into some outlet malls as wel as Target (a must-do for me on any trip to the US).

2) The bus system- I believe it's called the Deuce- is an EXCELLENT value. For $5, we got a day pass that gave us unlimited access to practically the whole Vegas bus system. We stayed at the MGM Grand, and took the bus from there to Freemont Street and a mall, and then did a bit of touring...well worth the money.

3) The lunch buffet at the Golden Nugget was the best Vegas food I ate all week, and by far the best value. It was under $10, and the food was very fresh and delicious. If you go, I suggest either an early (before noon) or late (after 2pm) lunch; we got there at about 11:30 and the place got really packed with conventioneers a little after noon.

4) It's really fun to gamble, but if you have the time, just take a day and stroll along the strip and through the resorts/casinos. They are so beautiful; since the Strip is constantly changing, it's neat to look back at your pictures from years past and see how much the Strip has changed.

If you haven't decided where you're staying, I can definitely reccommend the MGM Grand. My friend found it for $69/night, and it was honestly one of the nicest rooms I've ever stayed in- well worth the money. Here is a pic (sory it's so big!):

Here's one of Red Rock Canyon:

And one of the fountain near the Mirage (I love this one!):

I hope you have fun whatever you decide to do!

Curious why wouldn't you bring kids?? When we plan our next trip in 2 years it is going to be Vegas. My girlfriend just returned with her 2 kids and stayed at the Venetian and said it was great and the kids loved it. There is tons of things the kids can do!! Just walking the strip and looking at all the shops will be fun. Were taking the kids to Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon. My kids will love the pools and live in them all day:rotfl: . The buffets they say are out of this world and good prices too. I'm glad I found this thread because I too was wondering if there was a board for Las Vegas.:woohoo:

We are planning our fourth trip to Vegas, and I'm so excited. We always go the August long weekend because we absolutely love the heat. But, if you don't like very warm weather, summer is not the time to go. It's a different heat than we're used to (so dry that when you get out of the pool, you shiver for about a minute because the water is evaporating off your skin so fast, and then you're bone dry). We've stayed at the Luxor, Treasure Island and Venetian and will be booking the Venetian again this time. The rooms were gorgeous and totally worth it for the slightly higher cost compared to TI/Mirage (where we were originally thinking of going). Plus, they're all suites, which is kinda nice. My husband liked the TV in the bathroom, too. Oh, and the fact that the curtains were remote controlled.

My advice if you're staying in the summer - don't try to do your sightseeing during the middle of the day. Sleep in, spend the afternoon by the pool, then head out of the hotel/casino around 5 pm. We made the mistake of trying to get out during the day the first time we were there, and both ended up with sunstroke. On the same lines, it helps picking a hotel around the middle of the strip so you're never too far from the hotel and it doesn't take a long time to get everywhere.

One more hint is to check the Las Vegas Convention Bureau website periodically for the time of year you're going. Since I can't post links, add the regular beginning and end to visitlasvegas and you'll get there. It can be helful in figuring out if there are any big things going on. The one time we went, there was a huge Star Trek convention - we're not fans, but some of the people we saw made the vacation so much fun. We've also been there during the Shoe Convention, and there was lots of interesting footwear. Also everything was incredibly busy. You can also check on that website who may be coming to perform. Our last visit, we ended up finding out fairly early that Jay Leno was going to be there, so we booked tickets for that.

Hope that helps!

We took our kids to Vegas a couple of years ago as well. It was my niece's (their cousin's) wedding. The kids were 7 and 9 (although closer to 8 and 10) at the time. They had a blast. We stayed at the Luxor (I wanted something really different - kind of like Disney I suppose) and at that time (may still be the case), kids under 18 stayed for free in their parents' room. My niece had her wedding next door at Mandalay Bay. I was really worried taking kids but I was all wrong. I got a travel book called Las Vegas with kids which really helped. Went with the kids to see Penn & Teller at the Rio, Tournament of Kings at the Excalabur, The Secret Garden/zoo at the Mirage, the Star Trek Experience at the Convention Centre, to the Atomic Testing Museum at the university and just plain sight seeing with all the wonderfully themed hotels. They loved the pool, food - well just all of it. The service couldn't have been better no matter where we went. They really went out of their way to do special things for the kids - like pulling us out of a HUGE lineup at the Rio after the Penn & Teller show. They grabbed us a taxi right away so that a couple of tired kids didn't have to wait around to get back to their hotel room. Well, I could go on and on (it seems as though I have  ) but I know if we couldn't got to Disney World the kids would be thrilled with Vegas.

I went to Vegas for free (won a FAN590 contest) last July for 3 nights.

I was disappointed. Maybe because I am allergic to cigars and there was smoke everywhere. Other than the good shows, everything else is around the casinos.

The best advice I can give you was what I did on one of the days: rented a car, woke up at 4:00 AM and drove to Anaheim, to spend a day at Disneyland. Hosnestly, this was the highlight of the trip for me :)

We LOVE Vegas and hopefully going back in June for dh bday. We stayed at the flamingo the last time and will not return, it was too old and outdated but the pool area is nice. DH wants to stay at the Wynn (he is a huge fan of the tv show Las Vegas......LOL...that is teh hotel they show). We did a bunch of shows and we did the Hummer ride through the desert.
I can't wait to go back!!!!
