Anyone know of any digital camera other than the Fisher Price one that would be suitable for my 7 year old?? I don't want to spend a fortune.

I think it all depends on your 7 year old. Is he/she responsible? Doesn't drop things, etc.? If so, you can find tons of cheap digitals for less than $100. I worry about my son breaking a real camera, so I bought him the Fisher Price. My 7 year old nephew has one and loves it. He sent me a cute slide show he made of his Lego knights. The pics aren't the clearest, but for what he is going to be taking pics of, the clarity isn't really that important.

I think the FP camera is too big & pobbibly baby-ish for a 7 y/o. Have you seen the Disney cameras? Toysrus has this one on sale today & tomorrow in stores. If it is for a girl, they have a pink princess version (couldn't find a picture). There is also a $19.99 lesser version of the Disney cameras (look at bestbuy.com).

I also saw one in the Lillian Vernon catalog. It also came with a carrying case that was personalized!

We got my twin nephews (age 7) the Disney POC cameras. They were 49.99 at Best Buy. They seem like good starter cameras for rough and tumble little boys. They love using ours but they're still a bit too likely to drop or bang the expensive ones. They plug directly into the computer with a usb cord and have editing software included. I think they are only a 3 mp or less but if you are just printing out small photos like 3x5 or 4x6 you only need about that much, and truthfully we just print the boys pictures out on plain paper since they like to cut and glue their photos.

I bought the Cars Disney Click 49.99 from Best Buy. I think my DS will LOVE it. I didn't like the FP one. The Disney Click has cool disney software included. :cool1:

Just a quick note ~ after searching the threads here I think the info was FP w 1/3 mb & I believe Disney w/ ½, however the deciding factor for us w/DDs 5 & 3 was that there was Not a viewing screen on the Disney ones. :confused3 I’m not sure about age 7, or w/other little photographers, but around here that’s what it’s all about!

The new Disney ones have a viewing screen.

The 19.99 (the pix ones)ones are the tiny ones with no screen and .5 mp. The 49.99 (pix&click) ones do have a small viewing screen and a flash. I know it has a 2x zoom but I never did find a mp rating on the larger one. I just remember someone mentioning 3 mp.

Yea-there's definately a preview screen on the Disney Click that I just bought.

My 6yo ds has a Kodak EasyShare CD33. It's great for his age and it takes videos.

Last year I bought a used Kodak camera on ebay for my 6 year old daughter. I paid about 100 for it with an extra memory card and case. It came in the original box, so she had no idea it was used. Has worked out great for us.

I am getting my DD (9) the Kodak easyshare C530... it is going on sale today at Office Depot for only $49.99. I though that was a great deal

can you post a link to the camera? i found only a brief mention on slickdeals...you would think this would be hot.

Eckerd has a real digital camera on sale for 39.99 after rebate. It is 4.1 megapixels, 4x zoom, has a viewing screen and you can crop photos. I am buying this for my 4 year old after Santa brought a really expensive Batman digital camera last year that is the biggest piece of junk ever made. :rolleyes1 I would not waste my money on a kid's camera again. This camera is cheaper and much better. It is not a fancy brand but I don't care. My ds will love it and he will even get to bring it to WDW in the future! princess:

This is the link from kodak http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuer.../32/7496&pq-locale=en_US&CMP=KNC-8P3E53373771

You cant view the deal on Officedepot.com... it was in their flyer and it is In-store only. I called the one near me last night to make sure they had it in stock (there is no rainchecks or substitutions, quantities limited) and they have 10 in stock, so I will go get one this morning.
another good deal, imo, is at Shoprite, on Fri & Sat, is/will be Fuji Finepix 5mp for 129.99 and (must buy both) accessory kit 19.99, use your price plus card, get 49.99 off for total of 99.99

There is a 5mp polaroid camera (in pink) for $99 it is nice, takes AAA batteries. Real camera...but inexpensive enough not to worry. Great prints too!!!
