Last night my DF and I went to a pub with some of his co-workers and most of them are from Europe and older people.... so we were talking and they mentioned the wedding .. which I guess my DF hasn't really talked about much at work....

They asked me if we had chosen a place to get married and I told them Yes, Walt Disney World.

They all kinda went .. "oooh" and one woman said 'Oh, so you haven't grown up yet?"....

I just ignored her and didn't let it get to me. What do they know? Maybe she's never even been to WDW and has no idea what it's like....

I like the fact that I love WDW enough to get married there.. to me it means I'm a kid at heart, I have a great imagination, I believe there is still magic in the world, and I love learning and having a great time!

so boo on them and anyone else who has a problem with where we're getting married! :cheer2:

Wow... she sounds like a barrel of laughs! I say boo too! Don't let anyone bring you down about your choices for your wedding! I bet secretly inside she wishes she was adventurous enough to do something like you are!

I haven't had anyone make any comments like that to me but then again everyone who knows me knows I am a Disney freak! Thankfully I am marrying one as well and nothing we have planned for the wedding is a surprise to anyone.

i cant tell you how many times people asked my in a sarcastic way "did Mickey Mouse marry you".............& all I would say is "yeah" & smile

its sad how all some people want to do in life is bring other people down or try & make themselves look good by making fun of others.....well dont play into....

they have no idea & they dont realize how incredible it is!!

Sad, but dont let the spoil the thunder...kill em with pixie dust kindness:rotfl:

I had the same thing - when i said to everyone i was getting married there they all said Oh your having a mickey mouse wedding! They all thought it would be cheap and tacky! Well everyone who went to the wedding said it was the best wedding they have ever been too. And everyone who has seen the video has said the same things.

I had the "you haven't grown up" comment too. I would rather be a kid at heart than an old stingy adult. I just look at it as everyone has their own opinion. You just need to be happy with your choices and forget their negative opinions. Also, if anyone was to ask if I got married by Mickey Mouse; I would just respond with, "Well at least it isn't a drive thru in Vegas with Elvis!".

I know exactly what you mean.

My finacee's parents have now decided they don't want to come to the wedding as "Disney" is not their thing. I have sarcastic remarks like "Mickey Mouse wedding" and "Are Mickey and Minnie going to take part", when I snap back with Mickey and Minnie are too busy but they are coming to the reception, they have this horror look on their faces.

I much rather be a kid at heart then take life too seriously.

Wonder what they'd have to say to my forty-something self to learn that I want to do a 20th anniversary vow renewal at WDW...

Life is too precious to worry about what others think about you and your plans. If I get affected over every catty comment about getting married at Walt Disney World, I'd be a train wreck. I'm less than two months away and the anxiety can increase exponentially, so it's important not to let things like that bother me. Phew, must keep taking deep breaths!

What gives other the right to be so judgemental :sad2: I have gotten responses like this too. Just try not to let them bother you. You are so lucky... you are marrying the man of your dreams in the happiest place on Earth :wizard: Does it get any better than that ;)

I encounted a ton of snarky comments before my wedding. But then afterwards, everyone ate their words because they said that it was THE best wedding that they'd ever been to. HA! I knew it would be. ;)

luckily for us, our families both knew that we had each wanted a disney wedding for pretty much our whole lives. It was no surprise to anyone that we had a disney wedding, although I think they were suprised at how elegant everything was (and how amazing the food was!).

To those people who think they can judge your choice of a WDW wedding, forget them! They're just jealous... ;)

Ahh..... People are nice to my face about it, but behind my back they're talking about it as if it's the most pathetic thing they've ever heard of. Do I care? Do I heck! I'm going to WDW! Woo-hoo! Don't like it? Don't come! I'm going to enjoy my non-stuffy, non-pretentious, fun-filled, pixie-dust fuelled wedding!!!

Perfectly said!

Hee hee! I'm so tired of defending my choice, why should I? Why should anyone? Mickey rocks! :hippie:

i agree too

why have the SAME OLD BORING wedding that EVERYONE else has....NO FUN!!!

I personally dont get excited about going to weddings anymore unless I hear about them doing something interesting or unique

youve seen one youve seen them all.;)

Not with Disney Weddings

I've been fortunate that I haven't had any negative comments about having a Disney wedding. Everyone I tell says "oh, that is so you!". Other people I usually just say I'm getting married in Florida and when they say where I say Disney world and then they are very interested to hear about it... I can't believe that people would be so rude and say such cruddy comments! Disney weddings rock! (or will rock soon, I haven't had mine yet :lmao: )

When my fiance told his parents that we were getting married in WDW, the first thing that came out of their mouth's was "What are we going to do with the dog?"

Umm...how about a kennel? Or bring him down and stay at a hotel that allows pets! It was pretty much their way of making excuses why it shouldn't be in Florida.

My family however, is absolutely thrilled! :woohoo: We cannot wait!

But the dogs is family:laughing:

I love my dog, but your right, there are dog sitters in this day & age

thats too funny.......parents just dont understand

Umm ok it's not childish at all. Nobody has said anything to me about it and if they do I will just laugh.

I chose Disney because it is our favorite place to go and everybody who knows me knows that I love Disney.
