What other message boards do you guys go on? Im looking for ones that I can make more online friends with. I dont really know anyone on here..this place is HUGE! lol.

Since Im medically disabled I dont go out of the house much and thus i dont really have any friends.

Can someone help? thanks

Well I've tried to post more on here but omg there are so many posts and many so many pages long its hard for a newcomer to come in. *sigh* ahha

It does seem hard here at first, but if you post enough you will get to know some folks.

We are a big board...that's probably why there are so many 'clique' threads.

I go on there sometimes since I have those illnesses. I love dis! I guess I'll just try to post more and see if I can "fit in" somethere. Im just really shy and dont want to jump in the middle of a 20 page thread lol

I really like mousebuzz.com. It is a much smaller board. The people on there are very friendly. They rarely have rude or mean-spirited posts. I think it's a great board.

I like to come to the DIS because I enjoy this board too. There are such a wide variety of people and posts, that there's always something interesting going on. Although it took awhile to get used to reading rude posts, in general, most of the posters are very friendly and I really enjoy it here.

I'm fairly new like you. I just kind of jump in and post.

Welcome to the DIS. Don't let the size of the board get you down. A minority of the members post on the community board on a regular basis. A few weeks here and you will have some definite insights into the regular posters.

Sometimes, it seems a little brutal here, and don't get upset if your posts are not always acknowledged. Just when I get to the point where I think I must be invisible, one of my many friends on the DIS will acknowledge me in such a nice way. People may not always agree with your opinions and not everyone here is big on tact, but that doesn't mean they are not nice people and have really big hearts. I've yet to find a message board that I enjoy more.

The DIS is like a family...a little disfunctional at times, but they've always got your back.

most of my posts were about when I was planning my first trip. Now that its over and not a new one til 2008 I decided to come check the community board because I still seem to log on DIS numerous times a day. Its addicting LOL

It took me a while before I got to know people here. Just keep posting on various threads and before you know it you'll be like everyone else, you can't get away from this place! LOL

Head over to some of the clique-like threads and see if any seem like a comfortable fit. As another poster once put it they are more like a neighborhood than a clique.

I meandered over to the pms thread long after they started and they were very welcoming.

Go read various ones and see if any "click" with you based on their personalities.

But above all just post post post an before long you'll feel right at home!

I like the boards at Beliefnet.com There's a ton of boards to choose from, you can talk to other people who share your faith, your political views, etc.

Also iVillage has a ton of boards.

This community board is HUGE. I participate occasionally, but not very often. I hang with the DVC boards, much smaller and the Budget board. I think the Budget board has the friendliest people. And I love budget tips!

So poke around and look out for the nice posters. There are many. Occasionally I have PM'd people because they said something that I wanted to comment on personally and vioala! A new friend. I have never been in a clique on these boards, but there are many people that I care about.
