We all talk about going to Orlando and the parks, but what about what we like to do on other Holidays? Be it weekends or weeks away lets have a couple of pics to see. I am going to post a couple from a walking weekend in Wales and one from a day out, i love getting out on the hill it makes me feel re-vitalised.

First pic is a rest for dinner on top of Elidir Fawr near Snowdon, look at how low the cloud cover is, Anglesey is just over the Straits in the background.

Second on the way up Elidir Fawr, the first ridge in the background above me is the route for the Snowdon Mountain Railway

Lastly, start of a walk up Pendle Hill from Downham, I am on the right with my Dad on the left and Uncle in the middle

Haven't fathomed out how to post pics as yet! We like cruises with P&O, do at least one a year, have done the Caribbean many times, South America and the a Voyage to Venice next May. We also LOVE luxury beach holidays, the best of which were at Grenada 2003 and The Maldives 2004.

Lovely Photos Gill,
We have a motorhome and when we can go for weekend to sites in North wales. You don't need to go far for nice scenery and a break.
Longer holidays we take in various parts of the U.K. This summer we are off to lake District,Hadrian's Wall , Scarborough and near Fountains Abbey Yorks. for our main fortnight.
How did you get your pictures on without posting them onthe net?

Berwyn

I love ALL holidays, be it a weekend in london, or wales, Rob, love that too, also cruises, have done P&O, royal caribbean, love city breaks, but favourite has to be luxury safaris, love the atmosphere of luxury tents out in the bush with wild animals all around hmmmm, must book another! :cool1:

I'm with you there Carol! Two of our favourites places have been Spain for the sunshine and relaxation and Scotland for the scenery. I don't think we have one particular favourite type of activity but we aren't really ones for just sunbathing we like to explore and frequently use the public transport in Spain (it's actually much easier then trying to find your way in a hire car! :teeth: ).

We are trying to book a trip to Dubai in August, but are a bit overwhelmed with the huge choice of hotels and different areas. Its not entirely a leisure break (though the kids are staying at home with Nanny Sylvie:) )as DH is thinking of getting a job there.

Has anyone been who can recommend a hotel or good area to stay?

HOLIDAYS are FAB! Although I wish we were going to New York instead of some place in the middle of a desert!

Beware Dubai at the mo, major major building works all over jumeirah beach area, due to palm island resort, research very carefully before making a commitment, I'm a travel agent and we have ongoing probs with companies refusing to switch client bookings due to what they see as 'well advertised building works' - not trying to put you off, its a great place but please be careful! :flower:

When we're not holidaying in Florida, or having shopping weekends in Manchester, we have a touring caravan. We used to use it all the time for a quick and cheap break when the kids were younger, but due to our recent trip to WDW we haven't been able to afford to use it over the Bank Holiday weekends. Well today DH has booked us into a site in the New Forest (where we go every year) for two weeks - so lets hope for some nice weather. :sunny:

Cool pics!

When I fathom how to post photos, I'll put some ones of my fave holidays up here. I love going to Kos in Greece - it's a gorgoeus island and I've been there every year for the past 8 years. I know so many people out there now it's like having a second family!

I also love the caribbean. My family like staying in hotels belonging to the Iberostar chain because their standards are so high and they always give us a fatastic holiday. Hotels with 6 bars and 6 restaurants what's not to like?! :teeth: I love doing sports on holiday like scuba diving, windsurfing, surfing etc but I also love a holiday where I can just chill on a beach and drink cocktails. It's all about the Dirty Monkeys! :rotfl:

I also have a lot of family members in Northern Ireland and I love visiting them and travelling around Ireland with a tent too.

Thanks Carol. Unfortunately, we dont really have much time to wait for this trip. Ive heard about the buiding works (partly the reason DH wants to move there...plenty of business opporutnities for him!!). It wont bother us unduly, as its not our main holiday, and we arent really there for a leisure break. Thanks for the warning though, I appreciate it!

Allie have a look on www.holidaytruths.co.uk it has board on all different places thoughout the world so you might find some reviews on there if not you can always ask other users.

The only real problem with holidaytruths is that its merely peoples opinions, if you look at opinions on the food served you'll find one report saying everythings great and another saying everythings yuck! the best holiday opinions are from people you know have been there! and if you know those people don't like the same things as you then you're onto a winner. everyone has a different idea as to what is their ideal holiday, I personally didn't much like the burj al arab and its a self nominated 7 star hotel, but I have really enjoyed destinations other people didn't like!, The good thing about the Dis board is we're all like minded, open to new experience other wise we wouldn't enjoy returning to the same place year in year out.

Im a big fan of Holiday truths from which I discovered this site. Like many sites this offers personal opinions but from a British perspective, other international sites which I find very useful include trip advisor.

We tend to have two main holidays a year, one for a foirtnight and aniother for a week somewhere and take it in turns to choose the main holiday. We ususally go to the far East, but this year it was my choice and hence the visit to Disney last month. My wife has already indicated that in 2006 she would like to go back to Thailand inspite of the 14 hour flights with two kids under 4.

We're trying to decided where to go for a week later in the year and have come up blank so far as it has to be in late October and I dont fancy the canaries. Sharm el sheikh is looking pricey so it may be a case of waiting to see whats around.

if time and money permits we like to go away for the odd weekend and Sicily is looking promising in August.

I like weekend breaks away :)

Did Ibiza a couple of years ago and absolutely hated it. Never again. I'd rather have not gone on holiday than go there again. Sorry to any Ibiza fans, it just wasn't our cup of tea.

I do like a nice trip to France - oh and of course, to Disneyland Paris ;)
