Other family members using Fast Pass / Magic Bands

I posted this question in the Magic Bands thread, but am not sure if that is the right place for it...

I'm travelling with my family and my in laws in September. Unfortunately, they have not been in great health recently so won't be doing some of the rides that I've set up fast passes already for all of us. In fact, they will probably just want to go back to the hotel (BLT) and relax for some of these. If they want to do this, is there any way they can leave their magic bands with us in the park so we can use their fast passes? Will they be able to get into the hotel room any other way (since the bands are the room key), and will they need the bands to be able to take the transportation back to the hotel as well?

Also if they decide to have a lie in one morning, would we have to meet them at the park entrance to give them their bands so that they can get in if we take them to use the fast passes already reserved on them? I understand you have to enter the park now for the fast passes to be valid, so can they be 'tapped in' (as we have valid park hopper tickets) or would that not work? Do we just not use these FP's or cancel them?

Thanks!

Did you post something similar to this on another Disney forum? A thread like this came up somewhere else and man, did it catch fire...

This isn't exactly smiled upon. It could be done, but this could also be seen as violating the TOS of this discussion forum as cheating the system.

If you're doing a split stay (for example) you get 2 sets of Magic Bands. They're all active for the entire trip. So in theory, they could leave the bands and use the others to have access to the room.

The biggest thing to do would be to just move the FP's around, especially if you know this ahead of time.

Again this isn't exactly smiled upon, so don't be surprised when this thread spirals out of control.

No I didn't post this anywhere else. We are not doing a split stay or have extra magic bands or anything like that!
I'm honestly just thinking about the rides we've booked a couple of FP for that my in laws won't be able to do now because of their health to be on the safe side. I thought one of our other family members could take their place and have two rides on that attraction so the FP wasn't wasted - but that wouldn't work if they left the park with their magic bands because they needed them to get back into the room / for the transport.
If this is frowned upon then I apologise. I didn't realise it would be a big deal as I've seen lots of comments on this board about people letting their family members use their bands if they didn't want to go on a ride and the staff don't care? Is that wrong?

IMHO, your family paid for a day of admission which includes FP reservations. Use them!

As to the logistics - it may be worth it to you to buy a single plain MB and activate as one of your in-law's. That person will then have two cloned MBs. One to use as a room key and one to lend to a family member for FP.

1. I used a split stay as an example.
2. I get why you're trying to do it.
3. This is one of the recent things that Disney is trying to crack down on. There's not much evidence to show they are, but yes, it's a common thing, and to some, it is abusing the system. Others will say it's being smart. This is why I said it's probably going to lose control at some point.

Again, this is a touchy subject. On the other board where this was brought up, it went every which way but straight, lol.

You don't want to do this because Disney will flag their MDE Profiles.

FPs that are used in the park must be linked to MDE Profiles where a linked ticket has been used to enter the park for that specific day.

What you are proposing causes your parents' Profiles to be flagged and could lead to locking of their MDE Profiles.

You can use their FPs if they have at least entered a park before they allow you to use their booked FPs.

This is the crack down I was referring to.

I wouldn't tap them into the park, but I don't see a reason why if you have a FP for Space Mountain and your MIL doesn't want to ride, why you can't use it! Unless they take your picture with your band like Disneyland does on your tickets, they have no way of proving you aren't "Martha" or whatever.

..... and here we go....

Read my first post in this thread.

Also, the mod answered with what is actually happening.

Your answer is completely opposite the mod and in theory would have their accounts flagged.

Probably best to trust the mod here. YMMV.

@mousehockey37 , Like honestly even Disney should agree with that. If they had one already reserved for the day for a person, why can't another person use it? Has anyone asked a CM? That's why the switch from paper to digi at DL is annoying. It was always nice to be able to walk up to a family and give them a FP for something we couldn't ride. This isn't doing that, but if that time window is booked anyways what difference should it make if I use my mom's?

Um actually it seems pretty similar to the Mod's answer. DO NOT tap in a magic band for your family member at entrance. BUT if they are there already, why can't you use their FP?

And the battle rages on...

If all parties have entered the park, anyone can use the FPs.

It's been confirmed that Disney has been flagging MDE Profiles since June 7 if FPs linked to Profiles where linked tickets have not been used to enter a park have been redeemed at Attractions.

Because fast passes are person-specific (well, ticket-specific) when pulled. If the person doesn't want to use the fast pass that was pulled, that's their call, but they can't just "let" someone else use it. And, as noted, it can't be used if the band hasn't been used for entry into the park in the first place.

Ok so stupid question...

for us I just booked all our fastpasses together (party of 7) but my mother has stated she is not riding RNR coaster and TOT! Not doing it lol... I have literally just been diagnosed with a heart arrhythmia so I am debating if I will ride (dr. says I should be "ok" but ermmm). I have no interest in changing our 2 FP+ to something else, its a pain and I don't want to do it since we would just want to sit and wait anyway. Soooo here is the stupid ?

If I can't let my daughter or son use said fast passes on the MB do we have to "tap in" just to get the fastness used so we could as a group make a 4th FP later? I mean basically stand in line and get out before getting on ride?

A booked FP can be used by others in the Party.

A booked FP can also be reassigned by utilizing "Change Party" to move the FP to another person during the park day. It is a valid function of MDE.

It's a disservice to DISers to state that a booked FP has to go unused. If a member of the party doesn't feel comfortable using someone else's MagicBand to redeem a FP even though the CMs don't care, they can use Change Party and move the FP over.

OK, but the original person (who the FP was pulled for) is not using it now, it's been assigned to someone else. I was just addressing the prospect of taking someone's magic band (with FPs attached) into a park and just using the FP relative to the question "If they had one already reserved for the day for a person, why can't another person use it?"

Let your kids use the booked FPs.

You don't need to mess with tapping out in Tiered Parks to try to book another Tier 1 when you can let your kids use the FPs.

*The only thing Disney is flagging is the use of FPs booked using "extra" tickets that were not used for park entry.
