Who here has visited other cruise boards? We are not doing DCL next year but trying RCL because of west coast. I have tried cruise critic and it just isn't the same-the people don't seem as friendly and the amount of info is lacking. From these boards I learned everything prior to our first DCL cruise--over there I am in the dark!! I wish we were cruising disney. We are booked in a royal family suite on rcl and not sure what to do the 2nd bedroom looks like a closet. Not exactly like a suite on DCL. Does anyone here have any experience with both?
thanks.

I hear ya!

DH, DD and I are sailing on the Carnival Glory spring break, (2000.00 less than DCL for that week), and it just isn't the same.:( Just the people who post on these boards seem to be a lot more fun!:sunny: (Maybe other cruise boards would say the same.)

I check cruisemates message boards ocassionally, and I just can't 'get with it.'

Honestly, I think you're better off here than you are trying to get info on other cruise message boards. (Trying to learn about other cruises here, that is.)

I've done RCCL twice, and would be happy to answer what I can...

did you try cruise-addicts.com ??? They are fairly good...

PM me if you want.

Meg

Try cruisecritic.com. They're a great website and I've learned so much for my upcoming Golden Princess cruise in October. They also have roll call threads going to you can meet others going on your cruise just like here. It took me some getting used to, after all it wasn't the DIS boards, but now I enjoy it and have met some really great people on the site. The e mails that I received after Charley were amazing from those on the site.

I'm having the same problem here..I am spoiled by these boards. We are leaving for a "girls only"weekend in October on the Carnival Fantasy. Needless to say I am panicing because it's not Disney and I can't find any good info. Hubby and I are also doing RCCL after Christmas , just the 2 of us, no kids. I wanted to go on Disney, but the cost was 1500 less to go for a balcony roomon RCCL. The money savings won out, especially right after Christmas.

My only consolation is in June 2005 we are going on Disney again.

cruisemates is also pretty good. Not as busy, but sometimes informative.

They sure seem to complain alot on those boards!! I don't get near as many responses as I do on the DIS boards. Heck I finally found someone who is going on our Jan RCCL trip this last week.:( I have been talking to several that are booked on our OCTOBER 05 cruise on Disney for months.....::MickeyMo

Some of the posters tend to look down on you if you are not traveled as much as they are....

I love how excited everyone is on the DIS boards!!! You can 't find that anywhere else!!:hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

My first cruise(8-03) was on the Carnival "Glory" and I loved it. My second was on the Disney "Wonder"(5/04) and I also loved it. I have to agree that I was well prepared for my Disney cruise because of the wonderful people on the Dis boards. Everyone here is so nice and willing to help.
My third cruse is 9/04 on RCCL "Mariner of the Seas". I have been reading on the cruise critic boards and the people over there are just not as sweet, sometimes even rude! There's also not as much info over there about the "little" things.

Thanks for all the replies. I'll try some of those links. I guess I'm too much of a DCL fan and just can't get excited for this.
The places I have looked so far just don't portray the cruises as magical.
I feel like I'll be comparing every thing to Disney.

I found cruisecritic first, so that was my home for a long time. When we decided to do disney, I found these boards, and I do love them. Very informational and a lot less flaming of people for asking newbie questions. I still visit cruisecritic on a regular basis because I have a roll call there, and you can find info on the search functions or at the ports of call boards that has been invaluable to me in planning my RC cruise for next year.

But, a month or so ago, someone on Disboards pointed me to www.cruisebuggie.com. Now, that board is much friendlier. Only problem is it is not nearly as busy as this one.

Also, now that cruisecritic has vbulletin, I sure wish the disboards would upgrade!!! Cruisecritic has some awesome features, like hovering over the thread to read the initial post w/out having to click on it to see if you want to read it or not. You can also subscribe to threads w/out having to get an email about it. I prefer that option versus 30 emails in my inbox when I get home. All I have to do is go to my usercp to see the threads where activity has occurred. You can also see all the users who are online. You can ignore a user if you don't like their comments. The only thing cruisecritic needs is pm as you can't do that right now.

Anyway, hang in there. :smooth:
