Ok, I love almost all the rides at WDW (ToT excepted:eek:) but I'm noticing as I get older that some of them don't like me so much as they used to! I found last time that even Star Tours was making me a little queasy and I can no longer do Space Mountain twice on the trot. So can anyone suggest a motion sickness remedy I can take before I go out in the morning. I have asked before on our US cousins' board but of course they all recommended things to buy over there-Doh! Whats good to buy over here? Has anyone tried the travel sickness bands and do they work?

Oh no you poor thing!! My Brother has just started to suffer with this as well.

He's even started to list the rides he probably won't go on when we go in May as he said it's not worth the hassle.

So if you get some good advise I might pinch it to try out on him as I don't want him to miss out. As the rest of the family on the trip are the kind of people who go on a ride love it and run round and go on it again straight away. So not much fun for him if he's just left holding the bags :goodvibes

Oh no you poor thing!! My Brother has just started to suffer with this as well.

Give him my sympathy-its so annoying, for years I did the rides on my own and then when I find someone to go on them with:hug:I start to feel ill and don't want to go on them. I'm hoping someone will come up with a brilliant idea. Actually your brother can be my guinea pig *** we don't go to November so he can try all the remedies out first!!

Come on folks-you have 2 of us to help now!!:goodvibes

I know how you feel, Ive tried many remedies and wristband to no avail so I would also be interested in peoples responses so that i can try these as well.

Yep same here I'm afraid but I get headachey rather than nausea....

There was a few remedies mentioned on here a while back that I made a note of:

Kwells
Sturgeon
Traveleze
and Boots own.

If you search the forum you may find the older posts that may be of help.

I can't remember if these suggestions were more to do with travel sickness or motion sickness but I think the two are pretty much the same :confused3

I have opted for Boots Joyrides, I am going to try taking 2 tablets on the days we are going to the parks and see if they help...

HTH,

Ali :goodvibes

I've used the Boots one for Sick sickness before and they were very good.

Thanks for the other info on Meds I'll get a couple of them and get him to give them a go. Fingers crossed one of them will work!! :yay:

I have heard great things about sea legs.....at the minute round my neck of the woods they are like gold dust to get hold of (I am searching everywhere as I want them for my cruise!!) May be worth a go?!

My sister takes Dramamine for motion sickness whilst over there, we usually pick some up at the start of our stay.
She took them on our cruise 2 years ago and it was pretty rough and it didn't affect her at all. (we usually pick them up at CVS).

crystalised ginger is meant to work....tastes good too, easliy found at most health food shops

DH has suffered for a number of years with motion sickness and it was spoiling his enjoyment of the parks. He has tried several remedies, but his recommendations are, as follows (he uses them all together)

Stugeron (from Boots)
Ginger tablets (from helath food shop)
Relief Band (expensive but worth the money)

Available here - but possibly cheaper elsewhere:

The Relief Band has been fantastic.

Can't believe that I had never thought of using tablets in the morning. I find Stugeron fantastic for travelling. Will definitely try them this year before the parks. Thanks:flower3:

Re Dramamine and stugeron, do either of these cause drowsiness?

I think I would feel even worse if I felt drowsy too :confused3

Thanks.

Ali :goodvibes

DH never seems affected by drowsiness with Stugeron.

He absolutely swears by the Relief Band, though. He buys fresh gel for it for each trip, switches it on while we are queuing for a ride and turns it up to the max once he's about to get on the ride. It's made a massive difference to him.

I don't suffer sooo much with sickness on the rides, but suffer quite badly with normal travel sickness.

I even get sick when I'm the one driving the car - tell me, how on earth does that happen?! :rotfl::confused3

Anyhow, I've tried pretty much everything on this thread without much luck.

Joy rides - no luck :(
Stugeron - no luck :(
Travel bands - I felt that they worked the first time for me, but then not at all afterwards. I thought it might have been all a bit psychological :confused3

Kwells (Boots have their own make of these too) - the active ingredient is hyoscine hydrobromide. I'd say these have worked the best for me. I have never felt drowsy on them, but they really dry you up and I kept needing a wee :rotfl: Just keep drinking plenty of fluids.

Somebody also mentioned dramamine above... When I was in Spain at the beginning of the year, I had to buy some travel sickness meds and purchased ones called "Biodramina" - so I assume they contain the same active ingredient as dramamine (Dimenhydrinate). I bought the ones with caffeine in so I assume that one of the side-effects could be drowsiness :confused3 These worked fantastically for me, and I really, really wish I had stocked up. I stupidly only bought a pack of four :(

So, when I head over to Florida this summer, I'm gonna dose up on Kwells and wear the travel bands just for the heck of it. I'll then stock up on dramamine while there.

Hope the OP manages to work something out :goodvibes

Edited to add: I Just read that joy-rides and Kwells contain the same active ingredient - no idea why one has worked for me and the other hasn't??

Just wanted to point out that the Relief Band that DH uses is not the magnetic travel band that sells quite cheaply. It's a battery operated device and is based on TENS technology, as used in labour for pain relief sometimes. It emits electrical impulses, which when used in combination with the conducting gel on your pulsepoints sends these impulses to the brain. It's recommended for chemotherapy patients to to help alleviate nausea.

I would recommend Stugeron as being the best. followed by Boots Travel Calm. Stugeron is the longest lasting (about 6-8 hours) whilst Travel Calm (4-6hours). Both these can cause drowsiness and dry mouth. Travel Calm is best taken at least 30 mins before nausea-inducing rides , Stugeron 2 hours before. It's also important to note that it's not a good idea to drink alcohol whilst on either of these as the drowsiness effect may be greatly enhanced.
Yes, I work in the pharmacy of a well known chemists chain!:)
If you can wait until you get there, Walgreens does an "Anti-Nausea Fluid" which is excellent but only as a treatment not a preventative.

Boots do little travel bands which you wear on your wrists (in an exact location), and contain a small plastic ball which presses into an accu-pressure point, and stops the feelings of travel sickness. They are quite cheap if I remember right.

These work for me on boats, tried and tested! I don't like taking tablets if there is an alternative solution, and anything which 'may cause drowsiness' almost puts me in a coma.

No idea if these would work for motion sickness on rides, I've never tried. But travel sickness on boats is the same as motion sickness...? I think...

I get bad travel sickness so use the boots own brand which ive found to be really good - Stugeron are good too , i didnt take them the morning i went on the simpsons ride and i sure did regret that

Kwells (Boots have their own make of these too) - the active ingredient is hyoscine hydrobromide. I'd say these have worked the best for me. I have never felt drowsy on them, but they really dry you up and I kept needing a wee :rotfl: Just keep drinking plenty of fluids.

I don't need any help in that department thank you:rotfl2:-I must have used nearly every loo (female only) in WDW. I might try the stugeron then -thanks to whoever typed it in as "sturgeon" cause that will help me remember the name of it.;)

thanks for all your help-here's to a sicky-free trip....
