OT: Would you leave your kids for 10 days?

Once in a lifetime experience. I'd miss them, but I'd go. Especially if they have your DH.
Something I recommend to people all the time when they're faced with this kind of question....if your spouse had the same opportunity, would you encourage him or her to go? Often, the answer is yes, and if it is, then I'd say GO. If not, then maybe ask a few more questions.

Thank you all! I've decided to go. I'll be gone 8 days (cut it a little bit), and my sis and I are deciding on our itinerary. We've always been very close, but in the last 5 years or so, life has taken us in different directions (and places) and we've lost some of that closeness, simply due to distance and different lives. This trip will be a great adventure for us to have together.

My DH is an involved dad, and I have 100% confidence in his ability to care for the kids. Ditto for the grandparents. The kids will be fine! I'm sure some of you are shaking your head in horror :sad2: , but hopefully most are argreeing with me :thumbsup2 ! That's what makes the DIS interesting! popcorn::

Yahooo!!! Have fun! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Yipee for you ------"Slainte"

Make sure to make her a memory book of stuff from home, you and her younger, you and your hubby and kids etc. to take with you and leave with her.....she'll enjoy turning the pages of that way after your very short trip is over:cutie:

HAVE A GREAT TIME!!!!!!

What a way to lay on a guilt trip. 10 days is not too long for children to be left with their FATHER.

To the OP, I hope you go and have a wonderful time. It's an amazing opportunity!! Yes you will miss your children, but they will be fine and waiting for you at the airport when you get home.

I don't understand the "what if something happened while you were away" scenarios....you can slip in the bathroom and hit your head on the tub tomorrow.....or get hit by a bus crossing the street.....you can't live life wondering "what if".

I have to agree. After being a SAHM for a while, just me and the kids............day in...day out, I would LOVE to go to europe and spend some time with another adult-without someone trying to make me feel guilty about it. Dont get me wrong, I love my kids, but after a while:eek:!
Go and have a BLAST!!!!!!!!

This is an age old question that nobody will ever agree on. I dont really think there is a right or wrong anyswer. I am not specifically talking about the person who asked the question. In general, this question has been on many message boards. There is always the same 2 answers, A. they could never leave their kids, or B. Yes, they could leave their kids...

Growing up,my parents would go on weekends away a couple of times of year, and we would stay with my aunt. Me and my brothers were never harmed emotionally because of this;)

However, I am in the camp of not leaving my kids. They are just so apart of my daily life, I would be really sad without them. Do I like time away from there??SSure I love time away. Its nice to get out on my own for an afternoon of seeing a movie, or going shopping with a friend..no kids in tow.

We can only afford one vacation a year. We are a one income family. We save and scrimp every penny, so we do a family vacation. For our family, that works...Everybodys family is different.

To OP you will have a great time. My sister and I waited too long to take a sister trip because life got in the way. Enjoy the trip and bring something special back for everyone and they will love you even more.
