Hello All!

TIA for any assistance.

I am 34 next month and I would like to announce that means I am no where near being a teenager. Now that that has been said, I need a bathing suit. I am a size 14 and I don't want anything popping out or making grown men cry, and not in a good way. I am curvy, 5'6. More hourglass, but bottom heavier. Where can I get a good bathing suit that will last me the summer through my Disney vacation in September?

What is your favorite brand and why? Looking for quality while not breaking the bank.

Lands End! All the moms wear them at our town's pool. The hold up well, cute prints, you can mix and match tops and bottoms. I like the swim mini bottom- the make one that helps the belly area ;)

Until Thursday they are having a friends and family sale on full price merchandise + free shipping

Last year I had to size up on a few of the tops. I recommend ordering a few styles/sizes since there is free shipping and you can return it to a Sears store.

ooo, PP beat me too it. Lands End hands down. Their suits are very flattering to many body types.

Another vote for Lands End!

They are pricey, but totally worth it. They are durable, fit well and come in styles for every body type (and maturity level!).

Sign up for Lands End email alerts - I get a new email from them almost every day with various promotions.

You pretty much described me. But instead of making grown men cry, I don't want to traumatize young children.

Thanks PP's I am gonna check out Lands End.

I vote Lands End as well, because they sell bathing suit tops with different cup sizes. I found one I liked at Kohls, but the girls were popping out of the top!

Lands end I got a tankini with a skirted bottom. I've worn it at home, in Vegas at the pool, always feel comfortable in it.

Land's End! They help hold the end of the land in place...

Seriously, fast, friendly returns at participating Sears stores. Last autumn I ordered $300.00 dollars worth of clothes and kept three items - no problems returning the rest.

P.S. - Special occasion, not something I would ordinarily do.

:)I may not be a teenager, but i still wear two piece bikini's.....

I've never worn Land's End, but my DSIL LOVES them, and they get high marks here all over the Dis.

A couple more options: I personally have good luck with Nike and Speedo.

Another vote for Lands' End!!

I bought separates a few years ago and I love them! I got a tankini top and 2 different bottoms (one is a skort) and they are great and have held up well!

Land's End is definitely wonderful, not inexpensive, but they will last a long time. I hate buying swimsuits online though, but there are usually better deals to be found that way. I suggest going to Sears and trying on some of the Land's End suits there. Once you have a good idea of which styles you prefer and what sizes are best, then order online.

That is an excellent suggestion.

I'm about the same shape as you and I wear a 16 and I bought two very cute and flattering bathing suits at Target I bought this one and this one

I bought a size XL and they fit perfect. They hold up the girls and also come with straps you can attach for more support. I love the retro look they have and they are very flattering.

I went to Sears yesterday with the plan of trying on Land's End bathing suits...and they didn't carry them in my store.
I tried on about 30 suits yesterday in Target, Kohl's,Sears and got 2 in Nordstrom Rack that actually look nice. I still want to try on a LE brand suit....

I'm 36 and curvy...picked up a CUTE swimdress from Fashion Bug this spring, have had so many compliments on it.

I also like LL Bean. If you have an outlet near you, you can get some great deals. We have a lakehouse so I'm in a bathing suit most all summer. I found they wear very well.

I am scared to try the tanktinis or whatever they are called. They look cute, but I am short legged -long torso and fear that everytime I raise my arms, my big ole belly will be exposed to the world. I have always stuck with one piece, but don't see any sytles I like since the cute ones seem to be the tank. I see Land's end has "tall" sizing, will that help with the long torso?

I have this same bathing suit except the tankini version. I got it last year and it held up okish. I am trying to decide if I want to get another one this year. My only issue with it is that it takes forever to dry. Like DAYS to dry! I just order basically the exact swimsuit from JCrew but I haven't received it yet. I have other bathing suits from JCrew that have held up really well. Their version of this tankini is a swing top so the material doesn't cling to your stomach. I am a similar size and I hate when bathings suits do that.

I'm also a fan of Lands End bathing suits. I don't think anyone has mentioned Land End's amazing return policy yet. Here is the text from their website:

The Lands' End guarantee has always been an unconditional one. It reads: "If you're not satisfied with any item, simply return it to us at any time for an exchange or refund of its purchase price." We mean every word of it. Whatever. Whenever. Always. But to make sure this is perfectly clear, we've decided to simplify it further. Guaranteed. Period.®

Keep your receipt and if you have ANY problem with the swimsuit, even if it is years from now they will refund your money or give you a replacement. I had a suit that faded horribly due to chlorine and they gave me my money back no questions asked.

I'd also suggest the Land End Inlets (outlet stores). They have a "back rack" section of the store where they sell catalog returns. Swim seperates are just $9.50 each - although it can be a challenge to find matching pieces in the right size.
