help! We are new to game systems and think that the wii would be the best choice for our family. Where (esides Future SHop and Best Buy) can we get one. Not sure if it would be cheaper to get one in the US when we go down in December, but I am open to that too.

My teenage son bought his Wii from Zellers (they only had 2 in the store) we bought the first one and the sensor bar on it was faulty, so we had to take it back and exchange it for the second one (we were lucky that they still had it available) He had the Wii for 3 weeks and then decided that it wasn't for him.

We sold it on ebay and the money he got for it went towards a Playstation 3 which he is really happy about, at this time there aren't as many games available for the PS3, but they are coming in the near future. The graphics are amazing on it.

The Wii seems good for a younger family as the games are more general (not so many M or T rated games) it is also a game system where some games have you moving a lot to participate in the game. A friend of my son's lost weight after using his Wii for 3 weeks as he was very active while gaming

I would advise against buying the Wii in the states as you may have a problem if you need to get it repaired under warranty.

Hope this helps :flower3:

How old are the kids using the system?

If they are young (5-10) Wii is the one to get with lots of kid friendly titles. My 6 and 8 YO love Mario so we've had the Gamecube for years and they are getting a Wii in a couple of months when they earn their Wii Bucks. They'll be able to play their 25 Gamecube titles on the Wii.

I see them regularly at Wal-Marts stores (1 or 2 at a time) at $279. The time to get one is ASAP as this system will be the HOT gift again this Christmas leaving them in short supply.

Our family loves our Wii we got it at Costco before x mas last year. You can find it there and at EB Games Zellers Wal Mart FS BB some video stores even sell them.

We are thinking of getting it for Christmas also. My kids are 5,7 and 10. What games and accessories would you suggest?

I believe DH got our Wii at Future Shop. We haven't had any problems and have had great fun with it. We play, DD6 plays, and we take it to visit at Grandma's. They play, nephews 9 and 12 play. One of our co-workers plays with her 80 something Grandma.

I would recommend the Wii play for sure and you get the extra controller. We went out and bought 4 controllers so more can play at once - less fighting.

My mom just got us one for this christmas as a family gift. Apparently our Walmart got 24 systems in. My aunt works there and picked it up for her. I was worried maybe it would be a hard ticket item. Now I can buy games while we are in the states next month for xmas presents.
