I see TV people say, keep up with us on Twitter but is it really that interesting? Does Oprah Twitter? Is it really Oprah? How do you know you are getting messages or info from the real people? I can see real opportunity for fraud, eh?
OK, I've read all the responses and I still don't 'get' Twitter. Do people just keep an ongoing diary of their lives-celebs, friends, companys-and you get notices that they've made an entry? I don't Facebook or MySpace or anything other than surf the net either. I have friends who IM me or text me and that seems like enough. What does it mean to have people 'follow you around?' I'm so glad I'm not the only one. I'm not "old" (at least I don't feel it), and I teach high school so I'm surrounded by the tech generation. But I have no desire to twitter, text or facebook. Many of my adult friends like Facebook and I'm starting to feel pressure to get an account, but I worry about the permanence of the internet and the access people have to me.
For those of you that have Facebook, anyone convince? I tend to agree with a PP who said that downtime is for NOT communicating. I'd rather be sitting alone by a mountain lake than finding out who Miley Cyrus' new boyfriend is...
Still, if it's really that great....
