OT Who's Snowed In? Pics?

I am so jealous of those who have lots of snow. Although we have had more snow than previous years this year, it is not nearly what I would like to see. We had freezing rain yesterday and I can do without that, but I love, love, love the snow. I would love to get about 12 + inches. The pictures are beautiful.

We don't have much snow here, but the schools have been closed for 2 days due to the cold. It was -20 here, windchill -49 yesterday, and this morning it was -13, windchill -30. Can't have the kids out waiting for buses in that. Lots of people north of us were annoyed that Denver schools didn't close today, though. They did say that if you chose not to send your child, they would consider it an excused absence. Bet the schools were pretty empty today!

No snow yesterday. We got it last week :scared: We had an ice storm instead. Just got power back after an hour and a half interuption. We woke up this morning to this:

My poor tree!

:scared1::scared1::scared1:

Do you have a back up generator in case power goes out?

Nope, no generator. We've never lost power, though. They bury the power lines out here, probably due to a combination of the wind and snow, and after 8 years of being here, we have never lost power, knock on wood! I was glad we didn't have any frozen pipes this week. I've tried to keep one dripping overnight, and we opened up all the cabinet doors under the sinks to help the warm air get under there at night. I'm actually more worried about frozen pipes than losing power!

We were supposed to have a blizzard here from 7pm yesterday through 7pm tonight. Instead we had a piddly storm with about 6 inches of snow. Very disappointing for us Michiganders who wanted a lot of snow!
I live in Michigan and you can have our snow. Lansing area we got 10-12 and are still having flurries.

General Motors closed their Lansing Michigan plants down for 3rd shift last night and day shift today due to the weather .

ETA: they are closing another shift
WILX News 10 An update for General Motors Employees. The second shift at the Lansing Delta Township Plant and Lansing Regional Stamping are cancelled and will not run.

Chicago here, we had 18 to 21 inches with 50mph winds. I have drifts in the yard over 4' high. Out on the street many cars have drifts covering their trunks. One of the worst storms we ever had when you combine the snow & wind. Wont be driving for a few days at least.

I'm about 20 miles south of Boston on the coast. Here's a pic of the chair I usually sit on when it's nice out and enjoy a cup of coffee, won't be doing that any time soon.

As soon as I saw "south, Boston and chair" I thought it was going to be a South Boston parking spot picture! LOL :rotfl2:

For those who don't know- people in South Boston put something in the street after they dig out their car to hold the spot- lawn chairs, orange cones, old furniture- you name it. If you park in a shoveled spot that is marked, it will get really, really ugly!! pirate:

The snow pictures are beautiful yall are posting cause you see we never get snow here in the south. When it sleets here, our schools shut down!! Yesterday, it was 70 degrees but today it's 40. I can't imagine haven to shovel all that snow! No wonder yall like to come down to wdw so much, to enjoy that hot weather!!!

I live in South Eastern MI, and we were very disappointed in the lack of snow. It was very over dramatized. But on the other hand, I'm glad to not have to shovel 6 ft of snow! I thought having to shovel the little foot of snow was bad enough (I say foot because the neighbors next door decided to snow blow all of their snow onto our driveway and sidewalk- not good). Plus it was pretty heavy. Still love Michigan though:lovestruc

As you can see, it wasn't that bad, but bad enough to take me 3 hours to shovel.

Central Indiana here - just north of Indianapolis. We had a mainly ice event. I've spent 3+ hours today trying to crack up the 1" of ice covering my driveway. Last night we went out and shoveled the 3" of sleet covering the 1" of ice. It's all fun, I guess, but I'd rather have snow any day over all this ice.

Northern MA here on the NH border. The 1st one is from the last storm (our backyard) the next ones are from today.

Having trouble getting to share my pictures. At this time my avatar is the best I can do. The pile has gotten taller over the last two days. The majority of the snow has come from the driveway apron.

WOW!! What one sees as terrible, I see as absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!! I know you guys up north are going stir-crazy & freezing  but I have to say your pictures are breath-taking. Sure wish we could get some of that snow down here in my part of TX. 70+ degrees over the weekend, and 12 degrees today!!!!! Talk about crazy weather! That's a 60 degree shift in less than a week. :confused3 Anyway, I just wish it would snow so it would (for once) STICK!!!

I actually don't mind snow all that much, but we have had several storms in a short period of time and now we have no where to put it all! The snow banks are taller than I am and it's a big safety issue around here. I'd be happy to send you some of mine!!!

We got about 20 inches. Our bushes are well over 5' tall

Happy Snow Day from Oak Creek WI! The entire family was home and it was a good thing. It took us 2 1/2 hours to clear the driveway and sidewalk with the snowblower and shovels. The drift at the top of the driveway was almost 4 feet tall and the gracious snowplow driver dumped a 4 1/2 feet pile at the end of the driveway. Thank goodness it wasn't sub zero temps (that's for tomorrow!):confused3
