I didn't realize it was opening so soon.
It isn't going to be in Myrtle Beach proper. It's miles from the actual coast in the area that used to be Waccamaw Pottery. Those of us driving in from the East have seen its building in progress.
This area is not built-up (though that's sure to change in future years), so you're not likely to find a condo anywhere nearby. There are hotels, but they're things like Country Inns & Suites, etc. Upscale in Myrtle Beach is rather hard to come by anyway, and it doesn't exist near the new Hard Rock park.
To get a condo you'll have to look towards Myrtle itself. The Marriott Grand Dunes is very nice and has the type of accomodations you're describing. Their pools are incredible, but they're pricey! Also, the place that used to be the FireBird Inn (it still googles under that name, and it would be my first choice) is very nice and more reasonably priced. The 3-bedroom condos (haven't seen a 2-bedroom personally) at the FireBird have kitchen and laundry facilities, and they have two pools, a wading pool, and a lazy river. However, these establishments are both 15-20 miles away from the Hard Rock site. Both of these are ocean-front and are in good areas.
If you also want to be near Broadway at the Beach -- which houses much of the newer, nicer restaurants, shopping, and entertainment -- the Hampton Inn is a good option. We stayed at the Courtyard Marriott across the street from Broadway at the Beach once, and I would not return there. It's very easy to go wrong in Myrtle Beach, which is also known as the Redneck Riviera.
It has been awhile since I've been on the Dis...but came on to see what questions people might have about Hard Rock Park. We live in MB and just went this weekend. I'll actually come back on in the morning and post photos and details on the park.
When I did a search on the park...I couldn't let this comment about MB go without a response from a local. Especially since there are some here who may be interested in the area with HRP now open. Not that we didn't have plenty to offer previously.
As for HRP not being in "Myrtle Beach proper". It may not be in the technical city limits - which end at 17 Bypass, but it IS indeed within the Myrtle Beach address and is NOT by any means "miles" from the "actual coast" as mentioned here. It is actually only a block from the waterway and a simple 3 MILES from the beach itself with only one turn along the way. The area is also far from established or "built up" as our mall (Caostal Grand) along with additional shopping and restaurants are within 1 mile of the park. Broadway at the Beach which was mentioned is also a short distance from the park.
Also, for those of you who are interested in the area and not in tearing it down, there are thousands of places to stay in MB. Out of those thousands, there are more upscale establishments then those that are not. ALL areas of the country have those that all of us would rather avoid. Even Orlando and God forbid, Charleston.

Granted, many years ago this was not the case, but today, you would be hard pressed to call this the "
redneck rivera" and be found to be true, unless those rednecks appreciate upscale accommodations, fine restaurants, high end shopping (check Market Commons in MB), multi million dollar real estate...you name it and it is here.
There is also no need to worry about staying "20 miles" from HRP either. If you drove 20 miles in any direction - you would either be out of MB entirely, or in the Atlantic Ocean. However, Highway 31 does run parallel to Highway 17 and will bring you almost to the front gate itself of the park....and this highway sees very little traffic problems if ever.
For those interested in "high end" accommodations, we have plenty. Off the top of my head while responding...here are a few to choose from. All will be within reach of the sand, surf, waterway, attractions, restaurants, and Hard Rock Park.

For those that were interested in the Holiday Inn West which is very close to HRP, here is the info on it also.

For anyone having questions about the park itself. Feel free to PM me. I plan to post tomorrow all photos and info from our visit this weekend. I wasn't one that was very excited for it to open...however we did have a great time.
For a brief overview...it's more for the big kids and grown ups than for little one's. NOT all coasters are up and running yet. We were there for a little over 4 hours and were able to ride everything that is currently open at the park with the exception of Led's coaster. DD8 is 2" too short to ride as of yet so that review will have to wait. We had a great time, but will not be spending lots of time here. DD had a great time, liked the rides, enjoyed the shows, but when I ask about an annual pass, she would much rather have a pass for the local waterpark instead.
Hope everyone had a great weekend. Sorry for the long post. Promise to keep the one with park info much more OT!
