OT - when did DC drop their AM nap?

We went to Disney with DS last month when he was 8.5 mos. We found the AM and PM naps kind of a pain to get back to the room for. DS is not a good stroller napper. We have DVC so we are going again in April. DS will then be 14 months. I was just curious when your DC started to drop their AM nap. Our Dr. said it may happen around 12 months, but in my baby book I kept it up until 20 months. It seems like such a wide variance! Just wondering what your kids did. Also, what were the signs? Not sleeping well at night, not falling asleep for their naps?

I will be sorry to see the AM nap go, but not for Disney. We will be going again next fall when he is 22 months so I imagine he would have dropped it for sure by then.

Thanks for your input! Lisa

DD dropped her 2nd nap around 11 months (kind of early). It was actually more of the afternoon nap that she dropped. Both of her naps shortened and she started to refuse to take her afternoon nap. We sort of moved up the morning nap by an hour or two (she'll go down for the nap anywhere between 11am and 1pm) and she tended to sleep for a longer block of time. Her morning and afternoon naps averaged about an 1 hour each, but her 1 nap a day was anywhere from 1.5 to 3 hours. She is almost 18 months old now and her nap has shortened to 1 to 2 hours in the last month, but she has been sleeping for a longer block of time at night.

DS was 13 months old when the daycare dropped the morning nap. The just did it for the whole class. Honestly, when he was at home with us he was already down to one nap most days, but at daycare he was use to getting up really early so still used that morning nap a little longer. He did fine with the change, but for awhile he did nap longer in the afternoon (for them, never for us :rotfl: )

Ds#1 quit his around 13 months and ds#2 quit his around 10.5-11 months. We moved up his afternoon nap to around 11:30 or noon. He will be 2 next month.

OUr DS is 14 months and he is down to 1 nap a day. He sleeps abouty 11-12 straight overnight, wakes up about 8 am and usually goes back down for a nap anywhere from 11am-2pm and usually sleeps about 2 hours at a clip (which is nice for his pregnant mommy who also gets to sleep for those 2 hours ;))

Our DS is NOT a stroller napper, but when we were in Disney in October (he was just 1 year), he would fall asleep anytime, anywhere. I don't know if it was all the stimulation or the excitment, but he would just PASS OUT!

Both DS gave up their morning nap around a year old. Daycare stopped giving them morning naps so that pushed the issue. DS4 still naps most days after lunch for an hour or so.

Both of mine gave up the morning nap around one year (daycare helped us along too!) DS 18 mos now naps 1-3pm, as does dd3.5. She's just a lot harder to get to cooperate!

When DS first switched to one nap we had a hard time keeping him awake for lunch. I guess the 3 days he spends in daycare are way more exciting than being at home with the old mom and dad!

My #3 baby actually went from taking 2 two hour naps to one 4 hour nap at around 9-10 months. It was killer because she slept from 10-2 and then usually was up until 7:30pm because of the rest of our family activities. We tried for quite some time to get her to wait until 11 to sleep, but then once we finally got there, it seems like she just slept until 2 anyway. She is now 17 months and sleeps from about 12-2:30 sometimes 3. Then she is in bed around 7:30 and sleeps until 7 am. She has been sleeping this much at night since about 2 months. I have these incredible sleepers I know. We are very lucky. However none of my kids sleep in car seats or strollers for longer than 20 minutes, so traveling has always been icky. We are a little anxious about our trip starrting 1/27, because of the nap issues. Haven't taken the other kids this young. We'll see. She's a horrible sleeper in a hotel too (almost cx this trip because of it) so we ended up getiing 2 rooms for our stay hoping that will work a little better. Either way we're going and I'd rather be sleep deprived at Disney, than getting lots of sleep at home!

Mine dropped their morning naps around 13-14 months.....my youngest started daycare at 12 months, but he was in a class where the others were 18-24 months. They daycare tried to get them all on a "one nap after lunch schedule".....mine resisted for a while.....he'd just lean against the other kids during circle time and they'd tell the teacher that he was "snoring on them again!" He managed to get in some quick 20 minute naps that way for a while; then he want to falling asleep at the lunch table, but he finally made it to nap time. Now he's 6 and is usually the last one asleep every night!
