I am planning a road trip back to the midwest this summer. I am taking my teens. We would like to go to a Cubs game at Wrigley Field. I have searched the Website.. no handi info avail., called the 800 number.. no info avail. until tickets go on sale in late February. So, I thought I shall try my DIS associates.. they know EVERYTHING!!!!!

:D  :)

So if you have any info on Wrigley field wheel chair seating and its handi parking I surely would appreciate the help.

I am going to post this on the CB also as there are many midwest dis'ers on the CB...

Thanks folks!

I took my oldest DD (she's in a wheelchair) one year to beanie baby day. A friend of mine that also has a son that is in a wheelchair bought the tickets and the parking passes. The handicap parking pass we had was for the car wash next to the stadium. Those needing handicap access were moved to the front of the line and let in the stadium first. We sat down the first base line. On the last row the end seat is missing so a wheelchair pulls up next to the other seats. (Not like a lot of places where they put you in the row behind the last row and give you a folding seat). They do have a wheelchair lift for the box seat section. Overall I thought their stadium was better then a lot of newer places. I don't remember the bathrooms so I can't give you any info on them.

Hope this helps.

THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!

I was wondering if you remembered the section you were sitting in ? Like Club, Terrace.. etc

The car wash thing has me a bit worried tho... We are planning on attending a night game..hmmm I wonder if that will work for handi parking... hope so.. Parking at Wrigley has always been difficult.

My friend is a HUGE CUBS fan.. absolutely HUGE... she is so e*cited that we will be able to attend the game with our teens.

Thank you again!
I knew Diser's would come thru!

Well, it's your lucky day because I found the ticket. It's from September 13, 1998 and I think I saved it to keep with the beanie baby we got that day. Anyway, we sat in section 228 row 23. The wheelchair box seats with the lift were probably in section 128 because they were down in front of us. However, they weren't covered and we were.

We purchased the parking pass for car wash parking when the tickets for the game were purchased. I guess they close the car wash on game days and what made it great was our vans weren't blocked in like all the other cars. The attendant said he leaves the handicap cars and van where they can get out at anytime unlike the other cars that are stuck there until the car in front of them get out.

You are tooo kind to go searching for a ticket. Wow am I impressed! The information that you gave me has helped me to be able to choose the best place for myself and others who will be attending the game with me. Now on Feb 21 when Cubs general ticket sales open up.. I can make my request with confidence!

THANK YOU SO MUCH MICHIGAN!!!

Sorry to be a downer, but this is why we don't go to Wrigley-- I am very smoke sensitive (smoke triggers severe asthma attacks) and it's open season in the bleachers. Unfortunately, some smokers are nice, but some feel it is their absolute right to smoke regardless of the effect on others who are a captive audience.

If things are different now, by all means do let me know--we haven't been for several years due to this problem. I hope you have a super time! Wrigley is so cute. I live in Chicago, and if there's anything I can help you out with, please do not hestitate to ask.

Cupcake,
Cool! So you live in C'go.. do you go to any of the Dis meets? I am originally from the Joliet/Kankakee area.

As for smoking in the bleachers..YUCK!! I find that when we travel to Illinois that non-smoking sections are hard to come by. We are spoiled here in Ca., restaurants and bars are completely Non-smoking as are all public venues. Smokers have to really work to find a place to smoke. My kids have spoken up when we are in restaurants back home when much to their amazement they find smoke inside the establishment.
Thanks so much for the offer. It is much appreciated. There has been a monkey wrench thrown into my well laid road trip plans. It has to do with the eldest ds and the Army.. I may have to delay the trip which will disappoint many.. but they are understanding.
Thanks again! Joan

Well, I can tell you that living in California -- besides the excellent non-smoking -- sounds like a really great idea because it's COLD here!!!! I don't want to know what the perceived temp is when the windchill is factored in or I wouldn't be able to get out of bed. Actual temp was 2 when I left for work.

To bring this just a little on topic, :D , guess where I'd rather be?!? We bought annual passes last Fall bc my dh's business causes him to be able to go to a lot of conferences in Orlando. There were a few possibilities in the next few months, he was going to find out if they were at WDW or just in Orlando (clearly not as convenient for me given that I will be by myself while he's working and will have an ECV).

YEEEE HAAAAA!!!

I finally got thru to a lovely woman, Jan, at Wrigley Field. She handles the w/c seating and parking.

Believe it or not.....I got 13 tickets in Section 222 rows 22 and 23
in a nice bunch! She told me she gave me handicap parking which is right next to Wrigley Field.(evidently there are several handicap parking areas) The cost for the tickets.. $20 each.. parking was $16.
I also asked Jan about refreshments at Wrigley.. She assured me that there will be plenty of Old Style Beer and Hot Dogs available!

LOL>>LOL>>LOL

I am soooo Jazzed! So look out Chicagoland.. I comin' thru in August!

Let me be the first to welcome you to Chicago.

You will love Wrigley Field, and for as old as it is, I'm sure the Cubs will go out of their way to help you and your party in anyway they can.

I hope you're going to a day game. That's the way baseball, especially CUBS baseball was ment to be played:Pinkbounc

If you are going to an evening game, as hot as it may feel outside of the park, those lake breezes get rather cool, even in August.

This is great news!! Since we live in a Suburb of Chicago this info. will be very handy!! Last year was the first time we went to Comisky Park to see the White Sox. DS 5 is a HUGE Cubs fan. Maybe we'll venture out to Wrigley this year!! Have fun at your game Mamajoan!!!

Glad you were able to get tickets. Sounds like you got the car wash for parking. It's the handicap parking next door to the stadium. I was amazed at how far away people park and walk to the stadium. If I remember right there was only one gate for handicap entrance. If you get there before the gates open you go to the the front of the line on the left side of the gate.
