OT: What do you think about Walmart...pharmacy?

I've never had much luck w/ them but I stopped using them two years ago. Our walmart is ridiculously slow. In the afternoons when you go into walmart the line runs out of the pharmacy area and wraps around the cosmetics area everyday for hours and the checkout area is not any better. I don't have anything against them and would still use them in a heart beat but the drive through at an empty walgreens is more convient than than standing in a line for 1hr to drop off and another hour to pic up and anywhere from 1-3hrs for it to actually be filled so I would rather pay full price especially since when we are gettings scripts filled we are in a hurry for them from being ill. I think its great that they can offer the 4 dollar scripts as well but I have seen other places offering that as well. We don't have a target pharmacy nearby so I can't compare on that level. The staff is friendly at both the walmart (even w/ that long of a wait) and walgreens here.

Thanks for the input everyone. It is helpful, as we have never filled a script at Walmart. It's interesting to hear the public perception.
I am a Wal-mart pharmacist and have been for nearly 7 years. I work part-time, only 1-2 days a week. I have worked in 3 different stores, so I can tell you that service does make a difference from store to store. If there is a staffing or more importantly, a managerial issue, then that store usually has a reputation. Are you a pharmacist? If you are, I assume you have a pretty good networking relationship with other pharmacists. I would ask around casually. I guarantee if it has any problems, you will find out!
If you have any other questions, please feel free to PM me.

Thanks! I worked in industry for a long time, so I don't have a lot of contacts in retail.

All Wal-Marts (except in NJ) should be able to access your scripts on their computers.
Why not in NJ? From talking to the managers, the computers are linked in other ways.

I refuse to use my Wal-Mart pharmacy ever again. The staff is rude. It always takes over an hour to get a script filled. I have had the wrong family member's name on a script. I have even been given a script for some other person entirely. After these 2 errors that I had to catch, I decided that the $4 generics were not worth it. I didn't even get an appology from them.
'm sorry to hear that. An hour is normal or short around here, unless there is an urgent need. No excuse for rudeness, though. Of the 3 stores closest to my house, 2 are great but one has rude staff (not in the pharmacy, just the store).

I'm sure it depends entirely on the employees at your local Walmart pharmacy! I love the pharmacists at our local WalMart, but the ones at Target are awful (rude, short tempered, messed up my prescription, etc...). But, I'm sure this differs from WalMart to WalMart and from Target to Target.
