My dad just emailed me wanting a list for toys that my son(2) wants this year. He doesn't really even talk that well, let alone ask for toys. What are some good toys for the two year old set this year?

My son is now 2.5, but last Christmas he got a weeble wobble set that he really enjoyed. And he just recently became very interested in Legos. But he's getting a Thomas the Train set for Christmas because he loooooves trains!

Our son is going to be 2 in Feb and this year we are getting him the BC Builders dinosaur set for Christmas. The box says 3+ but he has a friend that is his age who loves them. He is also into anything Dora or Spiderman. He really likes his Littletouch Leap-pad as well. Good luck shopping!

My son just turned 3. His favorite toys of the past year were Thomas wooden trains, big Legos, any cars, trucks or planes. Last year for Christmas he got the Playskool air-powered ball popper. He, his sister (5) and all the neighbor kids absolutely LOVE that thing. He loves the "I Love Toy Trains" series of videos as well as Thomas and SpongeBob. I think he'd absolutely love the Lego Thomas train sets, but we have soooo many trains already I just can't buy them.

His other big Christmas present last year was several of the Fisher Price GeoTrax train sets. While I think they are excellent quality, etc., I think they are too "advanced" for the typical 2-yr-old boy. I would spend half an hour making a huge layout and my son would play with it for two minutes, tear it apart and then be frustrated because he couldn't put it back together. He is just now starting to be able to snap some of the track together. DD5 loves GeoTrax, but I wouldn't clutter my house with it until my kid was at least 3.

When my son first turned 2 he loved legos- get the duplo kind. Toys R Us sells a little table that you can build on for $22 (its not that big, but perfect for the little ones) and get a big bucket of Duplo blocks to go with it (the bucket even fits under the little table to help with space issues.

He also loves anything to do with trains- Thomas, Geo Trax you name it.

For DS#1, we bought a Thomas set last year, when he was 2.5. This year, for DS#2, who will be 2 in January, we're buying a play kitchen. I know some people wouldn't buy a kitchen set for a boy, but both of mine love to play pretend with that sort of thing. I think they'll both get a lot of use out of it.

HTH.
