I think dh and I are going to take a couple of kid free day in Vegas. He has a conference so I think I might join him the last 2 days! Any suggestions on shows to see or places to eat? I love Cirque and wanted to see Love or Zumanity. Unfortunately neither is playing while we are there. We have seen both O and Mystere so Ka is really our only choice. Has anyone seen KA? Any other really great shows out there?

KA is the most technically brilliant of all Cirque shows. I have only seen LOVE in veags, which was amazing but my mother, grandmother, and aunt all saw KA and loved it. I am a theatre major and I follow Cirque quite closely and I know that this is one of their best shows!

Ka is absolutely amazing! If you liked Mystere, you will LOVE Ka. We saw it last year when we went to Vegas for my 30th birthday and everyone was raving about it. Dh is very into the techical aspects of theater and this show just blew him away. I can't say enough good things about it!

As for where to eat, we thought Harrah's had the best breakfast buffet and the food at Nine Fine Irishmen, which I think is in New York, New York, was outstanding. I love Vegas, can't wait to go back! ;)

I didn't originally notice the "eat" part of the question.

Rao's at Caesars. This is a replica of the Harlem Italian restaurant that is impossible to get a table - you can get one in Vegas.

rumjungle at Mandalay Bay. This place is great. It is a Brazilian fire pit restaurant. They have this all you can eat meal that is worth the $40. Samba at Mirage and Pampas at Planet Hollywood are similar.

n9ne at Palms has great steaks, but there are several good steakhouses - Smith and Wollensky's is where I would go if you don't care about spending $200 for 2 people.

Little Buddha at Palms has great sushi.

Guardano's at Palms has a Sunday Margarita brunch that has all of the Mexican favorites (and Margaritas if you want them) - when I finally tried it on my last trip I was mad I hadn't eaten there on every trip.

best buffets - Paris for breakfast, Wynn, Bellagio, Rio Seafood Buffet. The Aladdin used to have one of the best buffets, but I haven't been since it became Planet Hollywood so I don't know if it is still great.

Eiffel Tower at Paris restaurant has a great view of the strip.

Are the shows dark because you are going around Christmas? If so, most of the big shows will be dark at that time.

If you haven't been to Vegas before, it's fun just to walk up and down the strip and look at everything. Don't miss the fountains at the Bellagio, it is so romantic.

We stayed at Mandalay Bay which was fabulous and ate at Aureole...it has a four story wine tower where you can watch the girls pulley up and down to get bottles of wine. Super cool and incredible food. Expensive though.

OMG- I am so jealous, Vegas is my favorite (next to Disney of course!) we usually go there twice a year, but subsituted Disney in August because of my Grandson, which I'm sure we will be doing a lot more often now.

You will not have any trouble finding a nice place to eat, there problem will be in picking one! My recommendation would be "The Range" in Harrahs - great steak house, as far as Buffets go, check out the RIO - best buffet in all of Vegas, there are soooo many good places you will probably have trouble fitting them all into your schedule.

Shows- I would recommend Penn & Teller (excellent) or Blue Man Group (awesome), but again, there are sooo many - sign up for the players club cards are diff. casinos because a lot will give you free shows/buffets/ discounts.

Feel free to ask me any questions you like, I've been there so many times I feel like I could write my own book on it!! ENJOY!

There is also Le Reve at Wynn. I have seen Mystere, O and just saw Love. I loved all three but O is by far my favorite. Le Reve is similar to O but the theatre is smaller and in the round. Also make sure you go into the Bellagio to see the conservatory the floral displays are beautiful.
