We are doing a WDW trip sometime in 2009 but I would also like to drive somewhere this summer to do something different and to spend some time at a beach. I was looking into Virginia Beach...has anyone been there or can recommend somewhere no further than a 12-16 hr drive from Ontario? We fly everywhere so that would be about our limit in the car!

We usually love Disney and wanted some place to go in the summer too. I considered Virginia Beach but my husband thought it was too far.

I was able to convince him to do Mont Tremblant and we were pleasantly surprised. I rained quite a bit... but the hotels and restaurants were gorgeous and there are tons of organized activities and passes that you can get there, even for the summer!

Atlantic Beach in North Carolina is beautiful.

I love Virginia Beach and don't mind the drive. We drive to DC, stay the night, see the sites until 1pm the next day and then drive to Virginia Beach.

Summer is expensive, but it's lovely.

It took a lot of years of convincing, but dh finally convinced me that vacation in Ontario is a great option to the Atlantic Ocean USA beaches.

Grand Bend is just like the ocean! Beautiful big waves, no border, no currency exchange, not a long drive.

Not Beach but lots of water is Wisconsin Dells- check it out. We found it when driving though-so much to do and so beautiful

Wisconsin Dells may be too far a drive if they want something within 1 day's drive but it is definitely a great spot that seems to be constantly evolving. Mt. Olympus can provide days of fun.
