I got an e-mail from one of the anti-seal hunt groups. I read the info on their site and then read the CBC's info about the hunt. I am not an anti-hunting person by any stretch of the imagination. I don't hunt but do understand that sustainable hunting is fine. So my question is this, how do you feel about the seal hunt as a Canadian? Is it right? I know that it is a big industry, perhaps someone out east can answer this for me, with the price of pelts being so low is it even worth doing the hunt this year? I don't want to start a nasty debate here I'm just wondering about other Canadian opinions.

I too do not want to start a debate, however I am against the seal hunt. I'm aware that it brings in a good chunk of money for the East, and thousands of jobs created, etc. However I quite frankly don't feel this justifies killing animals that are an important part of our ecosystem. All I can say is thank goodness they don't club the babies.

I also don't want to start a debate but I'll give my opinion. I love animals. I think the pictures of seal hunting is sad. But, I also think that people in Canada are pretty civilized, so even though I don't know anything about their work, if the seal hunt is necessary then I'm certainly not going to get in a huff about it. It is clearly a difficult job, and I don't think that it would be condoned if it was just for the "fun of it". There is no question it is not done for the sport of it, so I'm ok with the reasons given for doing it.

I eat meat. I wouldn't eat it if I had to kill it myself- going to the store and picking it out and letting on that it wasn't a "real" animal that was killed just so I could enjoy it doesn't make me any better than a seal hunter, so I respect them for the tough job that it must be.

I think that we need to really spice things up and also discuss, Quebec, The Leafs, Same Sex Marriage, the CBC, a woman's right to choose The coalition that didn't succeed last December, what a nice guy Harper is, folks on Welfare, how little men do around the house, new Canadians, etc,

We all have feelng and opinions on lots of controversial topics.
I come here to discuss Disney and other lighter fare.
And no I'm not letting you know my opinions on any of the ones of listed. Since most people have chimed in about the seal hunt, I'm for giving a folks a chance to make a living as long as it doesn't wipe out the seals. I'm sure someone has statics proving and disproving the effect of the hunt.

They're cute, just don't let one take a bite out of you.

Ha ha ha, as a mom I have discovered there are two things I will NEVER give my opinion on mostly because I believe that in both circumstances there is no right or wrong and I don't mess with mom's - I'm pro-mom whatever your decision may be!! :thumbsup2

1. Breastfeeding
2. The choice to start english children in french immersion when they first start school at age 5.

Guaranteed you comment on either of those two topics and you're going to tick somebody off!!!:rotfl2:
