DD lost her 2nd tooth yesterday. She's one of those kids who let it hang their till it falls out on its own. She came to me crying last night as I was getting into the shower that she has to stay up late since she doesn't want to swallow it in her sleep. So I grabbed a piece of toilet paper and went to pull it out and it just fell out. She was standing their waiting for the pain and I was done.

So I get in the shower and I'm trying to remember what I did with her first tooth. Then I remembered, I put it in a little gold jewlery box in my draw with my other jewlery. Which is all fine and good but I just sold 2 bracelets on ebay last month and I think I used that box to ship one of them.

So someone got a nice bracelet for valentines day with my daughters first tooth as a bonus. :lmao: I feel like such a bad mommy.

What does the tooth fairy do with your kids teeth?

Right now they are in the top draw of my chest on chest, labeled as to the date & what tooth it is.

Don't ask me what I will do with a mouth full of teeth, but I just couldn't pitch them...

LOL. My kid is only 3, but he managed to lose a brand new tooth at 6 months, then had 2 teeth pulled when they started disintegrating (possible from the trauma they received when he had the accident that caused the loss of the first tooth!).

We thought we lost the first tooth forever, while on the way to or from the kid's hospital ER (we thought he swallowed it and didn't know what might happen...they sent us home, saying it wouldn't be a problem and that there were sick people at the ER so "go home!"), but I found it a month later while vacuuming up spilled potpourri. Was in the corner of the carpet; had somehow made its way home with us and fell on the floor.

The other two I put with that tooth.

And then some months later I was clumsy and managed to drop that whole container, and all three teeth were lost forever.

So now, even before he properly lost ANY teeth, I have gotten soooo over the need to keep the teeth! And I'm glad. The teeth-keeping issue was something that bugged my mom for years, and I'm glad to be done with the concept so early. :rotfl:

Plus, he lost those 3 so early he didn't even need the tooth fairy! :cheer2:

That makes me thing of a funny story, One day granddad comes to visit the family and of course gives the kids a dollar DD was 5 at the time she was so happy at the thought of a whole dollar, she trips and falls and out come her loose tooth, now this is where the story gets interesting, she can't wait until the tooth fairy comes because maybe she will get another dollar :woohoo: So DD goes to bed and I almost forget about her tooth so I go in to leave the money and get the tooth, I see a dollar under her pillow and the tooth still there, thinking DH beat me the the puch, but forgot to take the tooth I take the tooth and go back to bed. So its time for school and DD comes in screaming how the tooth fairy is a thief  because, she take her tooth and didn't leave a dollar, Well I didn't know DD would put her own dollar under her pillow, I had to concoct a story about how the tooth fairy must have gotten a little forgetful over the years and she'll come back with dollar for the tooth, so needless to say that night the tooth fairy put 2 dollars under DD pillow for all her pain and aggravation

:rotfl: Your poor DD!! :lmao:

The Tooth Fairy forgot to come last month when my son lost a tooth. Now, he's seven, so he knows the drill. However, the "Tooth Fairy" had her wisdom teeth out that very same day and was on some very strong painkillers. She passed out way before he went to bed. The Tooth Fairy's husband forgot. Child wakes up the next morning, so upset that the Tooth Fairy forgot about him. After a long discussion about how busy the Tooth Fairy is, he was okay...and he was especially okay when the Tooth Fairy slipped him a $20 the next night. :rolleyes1

$20!!! I yelled at DH for leaving DD $3 in quarters. If I knock out a couple of teeth can you send your tooth fairy my way?

Oh do I understand the $20.... My son lost his first tooth at Disney World...and got a really cool Fantasmic light up pin from the tooth fairy. His second tooth came out about a month later...I was all prepared with a tooth pillow, "fairy dust" etc...except I had the stomach flu. I had a $2 bill all prepared for the event and hubby, not wanting to "disturb" me, crept in after kiddo was sleeping and put a $50 under the pillow, thinking it was a $5! He grabbed it in the dark and just saw the $5 and forgot that he had gone to the bank that day and cashed a check for expense money for a trip he was taking.

Since then, everything else the tooth fairy leaves looks like she's being a cheapskate!

Ah welll...expensive tooth!

The tooth fairy forgot to come to our house last month too! She must have been in alot of pain from her wisdom teeth :lmao:

We actually told my son that she must have run out of money because alot of kids lost their teeth that day. I felt terrible and gave him $5 - I thought that was alot :rotfl:

Oh, man now you have me thinking about where I saved those first two teeth DD (7yo) lost! I know I saved them, but for the life of me right now, I cannot remember where!!!

DH and I were scared DD would wake up as we played tooth fairy and were glad when the job was done. DD was so happy with the $5.00 for her first tooth (special b/c it is the first so she gives a one time bonus) she wrote the tooth fairy a thank you note that we had to then pick up the next night. :scared:

She is anxiously awaiting her next tooth to come out one of her front teeth. :)

My step son just lost one of his front teeth...Tho now heth talking like thith!

He lost the tooth at his grandparents house on a sleepover night...and it seems at Grandma and Grandpa's house not only did the child receive $20...the tooth fairy also left him a stuffed dog...

The tooth fairy was SUCH a cheapskate when I was a kid...I got 25 cents...sometimes in dimes and nickels! I wasn't aware that she was a gift giving fairy...

:lmao:

;) These are great stories! Funny to hear that the Tooth Fairy 'forgets' everyones house once or twice!

DD6 lost her first tooth at the Movies this past summer. All the youth from her Sunday school went. She was sharing popcorn w/a couple other kids and next thing you know...she swallows her tooth. The 5-6 yr olds thought that was better than the movie. When her second tooth was loose , she THOUGHT she swallowed it, we found it stuck in the apple. DD was afraid that the toothfairy wouldn't believe her if she 'ate' 2 teeth.... 'she might not leave me any money if I keep swallowing them." I assured her that the tooth fairy was pretty good about those things.

I have to laugh at all the Tooth Fairy stories, because I think I have the only child ever created who does NOT want a visit. She was in complete meltdown mode a few weeks ago, and when I finally got her to tell me what was wrong, she said "I don't want to be five. I don't want the Tooth Fairy to come. I don't want my teeth to fall out!" I tried to explain to her that her bigger teeth were there waiting to come in. That was apparently even more upsetting. I have no idea how to handle this. I mentioned it to her Pre-K teacher and found out that they had read a story the day before in school about Franklin and the Tooth Fairy, because there are a few in the class who were 5 in Nov and Dec and one has a loose tooth.

Soooo...what do you do with a kid that insists on keeping her baby teeth?:rotfl2: :rolleyes1

LOL both my girls got $20 from the TF for their first teeth. Now she leaves them $5 or $3 per tooth. Lately she's been bringing them Disney Dollars...because you know she's really good friends with Tink and Tink told the TF that we have AP's for DL so she thought that Disney Dollars would be really neat. LOL And yes, the TF gets busy and she can't stop by always on the first night, occasionally it takes her 2 or 3 nights but she always makes it! LOL

These stories are hilarious, keep 'em coming

Insist on writing the Tooth Fairy a note. She can dictate and ask if she could please keep her tooth. You know I hear that Fairy can be reasoned with. :)

These stories make me feel a little better. DS who is almost seven has lost 5 teeth. DH and I have a bunch of doozies 1. I woke my husband in the middle of the night and yelled the Tooth Fairy! I had forgotten to put the dollar under DS pillow. 2. One time, I believe it was tooth number three, I made DH run to a convenient store at 11:30 a night just to buy a pack of sugarless gum and come home with a dollar. We only a hundred dollar bill DH had from the bank. No way that was going under a pillow unless it's my pillow.
3. We used my DS's allowance as Tooth Fairy money - or I should say I used it. DH was away and I couldn't leave my kids alone to get the dollar so I "borrowed" a dollar not fully realizing he was going to count it with his other money that morning. I had hoped he would do it after school. No such luck. The kids like a banker or a bookie- he knows his money. He, too, believed the Tooth Fairy was a thief. He's almost right more like a borrower. ;) I had to tell him that I forgot to mentioned I borrowed a dollar towards his lunch yesterday and will get it back to him today after school. Being 5 at the time, it worked.

So lessoned learned- keep a spare dollar hidden and I keep a pack of sugarless gum hidden just in case.

Our DD13 (then 5), lost her first tooth on her 5th bday. Her bday is 12/31, so we were all getting ready to go our for dinner and then back to our house for a party. Went to give DD a last minute wash up, ran the washcloth over her mouth and had her bloody tooth in the washcloth. First child, first tooth! Blood was everywhere! I started screaming thinking I had pulled it out, DH takes one look and takes off, my DM walks in the door to all the chaos and starts crying over the Big Event!

DH finally comes back and hands me a piece of paper! Seems he thought she was too young to lose her first tooth, so he went and looked it up on the Internet! Gotta love my engineer husband!

Not only are Tinkerbell and the Tooth Fairy friends, but did you know that they are 1st cousins too! DD had her 2nd trip to WDW right after this, so I arranged a package at Coronado Springs. We were checking in and the CM said, "oh we have a package for Miss Black". Well she takes off and DH is standing there with his mouth open and DD was thrilled! The CM returns with this huge box, all wrapped and hands it to DD. Well you should have seen all the CMs standing around wanting to see the "magic"! DD's gift was from Tinkerbell, who explained in her note that her cousin the TF and let her know how brave she had been when she lost her first tooth. The gift had SF gum, a new toothbrush and toothpaste, games and a variety of stuff! What a fun trip down memory lane!

Also, my DH (of the engineering mind) always goes outside the girl's bedrooms and shines a light around to let them know that the toothfairy is waiting for them to go to sleep!

My mother kept all of our teeth in a medicine bottle with our names on it. When we moved her and my Dad we found the teeth. We opened the bottle and took them out to look at them and they fell apart. Just crumbled. I am just getting rid of my kids teeth after that. No sense in hanging on to something that is going to fall apart.

I throw them out.

One year..I bought a box of Lego at a garage sale.
After I got home, I was looking thru the box & I found a kid's tooth just lying in there among the blocks! Kind of gross.

When my DD was little , I found a huge tooth bank that has holes all around the tooth like a birthcontrol pill pack , you add the tooth to the hole , spin the plastic around to the next spot and it has a space under the tooth to write the date when she lost it! The top of the tooth has a slit like a bank, and I`ve saved 18 of her teeth already. My sons teeth are all in a tiny treasure box he got from the Disney pirates cruise. I wonder if they will stay in tacked in either container, time will tell.
