Your prayers, the poem and for keeping us in your thoughts. It all has meant so much to me. Thank-you.
While I'm still crying a lot of the time I do feel better today. We have to go and settle up our bill today with the vet so that'll be tough. And we're having Italy cremated so when she comes home that'll be another tough day. But I know it'll be okay.
Italy's death was so sudden, tragic and such a freak accident that it really threw me. My other dog, Miranda, has had illnesses and accidents over the years and 3 of those times the vets have given up on her, saying that she wouldn't pull through. I don't know what it is but she's 16 1/2 years old now. Not as spry or as quick as she used to be but she keeps going. And that's what makes the grieving for Italy even harder -- she was only 7 years old.
And tantor, as for poem, I lost Sunshine, another dog/friend, in 1995 and I've always kept that poem in mind. It helps to think of them as happy and free. And, grab your tissues if you haven't already -- when we made the decision to take Italy off the breathing machine I told her to go find Sunshine because she'd be waiting for her. Then I kissed her and said goodbye. Maybe it's silly but I like to think that they're playing together somewhere now.
Thank you again,
Michelle
