My sons cub scout pack is doing a bake off. A silent auction with all proceeds helping needy families in our town.
I am NOT crafty and certainly cant decorate a cake very well.
AVOIDING cookies or cupcakes. I have a couple of cake ideas but looking for more options.
"Awards" for Most Unusual sport. Best Olympic Theme. Best Non Cake Dessert (got any ideas for this one?!), and a few others.

Any ideas? Something fun for my son and I to do together.

A cake cut into the Olympic rings would be cute w/colored frosting or M&Ms in each color. Or mold rice krispy treats into the rings & use different colored candies to decorate each ring. Cake shaped like a football or field w/players stuck in it, sorry I'm not that creative either!

Okay - I've done a couple sport desserts - so here goes....

baseball - take a white chocolate covered oreo (if you can't find any, just use white almond bark and cover them, make sure you get them "smooth" on the top tho), get a little tube of red decorating gel and make baseball seams on it - ta da - done! EASY EASY EASY!!!

baseball hats - take a fudge striped cookie and turn it stripe down, then use a chocolate covered marshmallow graham cookie (don't know what they're called exactly) and use it as the "top" of the hat by placing it on 2/3 of the fudge striped upside down cookie, "glue" them together by using frosting, then pipe on any "team" or logo to look like a ball cap, I've used a mini-m&M for the top "button" on the hat also

baseball bats - take a long thick pretzel and dig in chocolate and/or almond bark

football cake - Wilton has a mold out that makes "dolls", make a chocolate cake, cut it in half, lay flat with the "fat" parts in the middle and decorate to look like a football

I've boughten several chocolate molds that are fun themes also, these are really easy to do and the kids love to help, cookie cutters too, I've got a pennant shaped one that I use for lots of different sports - I've used it for the pine-wood derby winners too - very easy!

I know I've done other things - as soon as I remember them, I'll get them posted

good luck!

My son's Pack does this every year for the dessert at Blue and Gold Banquet. We get our ideas from Family Fun. They have A LOT of cakes. It is www.familyfun.com

How about a baseball field dirt pudding ..... make dirt pudding put in rectangle pan, cover with green sugar or coconut, cut vanilla wafers for bases, add a scoreboard, benches made from pretzels. Good luck!

You could make a cupcake "cake". You bake the cupcakes, then form them into whatever shape you want, then frost them all at the same time so from the top it just looks like a regular cake. So you could do a big circle and ice it like a baseball, or you could do a football shape, or the Olympic rings.

You could do chocolate pudding cups, put green sprinkles on the top like green grass, and put a flag in it like a green, then make some golf clubs out of pipe cleaners.

You could take Oreo Cookies, dunk them into food colored white chocolate (3 colors: gold, bronze, silver, I'm sure you could find those colors... somewhere? I don't bake) and make medal cookies. For an extra touch you could try to put them on ribbon.

Now, the trivia question of the day: What is special about the colors on the Olympic flag?
