Hey Everyone..

DH and I are going to do the South Beach Diet soon.... We did it in 2005 and he lost 40 lbs, me 11.

Anyone have any tips? I cannot remember what on earth I found to eat for Breakfast in phase one.

thanks Jen

My best tip - http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/

I ate a lot of breakfast ham slices, since I don't like eggs. But, I also cheated and didn't give up my lattes (just started sugar-free syrup) so I had that to fill me up. I think the new version, you don't have to give up dairy in Phase 1 though!

Do you have the books? There are some newer ones with new recipes as well.
If not, could you borrow them from the library? There is also a SB discussion forum that I found a lot of really great recipes from. It is great to see how creative others get. Other websites for inspriation include Weight Watchers...they have great soup recipes that are within SB guidelines.
Suzanne Sommers has 'Sommercizing' Diet books with great recipes that are in the SB guidelines as well.
It is a little easier to try again, it is not so new. Some things become automatic whrere you don't have to think as much about it.
I think the hardest part is just getting back on it and going for the first 2 weeks. The website (free part) and the Kraft website have really good new recipes for breakfast.
I happen to love eggs, so I do a lot of mini quiches with vegs. and egg beaters in muffin tins. I do mini mexican where I spread refried beans down on a plate, melt cheese over it with sautee'd vegs. and then fresh salsa.
I plan, shop and make a week or two worth of meals at once, because it is time consuming to prepare/cook each meal.
I have also read Dr. Oz's You on a Diet...it made me understand the SB diet and motivated me to stick with it.
Good Luck!

my best tip that has gotten me through the first 2 weeks (i'm a MAJOR sugar-holic) was the "peanut butter cup" recipie i found a few years ago.
1 sf. fudgesicle
1-2 T SF cool whip
1t peanut butter (all natural)
melt fudgesicle in the microwave for about 10 seconds (just to soften, not melt completely) mix with coolwhip and peanutbutter.. YUMM!!!

For b-fast i suffered through the eggs, although DH LOVES eggs and eats them for dinner sometimes, yuck! I did have a recipie at one time for a "cinnamon omlet" which sounds gross, but if you like cinnamon and cream cheese is very yummy... but I don't do that one very often as it does take a little time to make. PM me if you'd like the recipe

My best tip is to cook ahead of time so you're not shopping and cooking every single day -- takes some of the pressure off. Also, it's mostly water weight you lose, so my goal in the first phase is simply to get rid of the cravings, and if that means 3 helpings of chicken stew to feel full, that's fine. I always lose 5-6 lbs still which is plenty, and then 2-3 a week on Phase II. There is no need to suffer on Phase I -- make enough food that you can eat until you're full. Once your cravings are gone, in Phase II you will NOT be as hungry and can eat proper portions.

This site helped me tremendously -- not just support in the forums but tons of recipes.
